Starting in a hyped-up friendly does not constitute 'nailed'.

Alvarez is in KDB's spot so just depends when he's fit enough to start

I look forward to being ranked at 5.2m at the end of GW1 yet also only eight points off first.

What else thinks they will likely do a 'mini-WC' before GW3? 2 x FTs and a -4 points hit to make 3 x transfers.

    1. Andy_Social
      • 13 Years
      2 years, 6 months ago

No chance. I don't have a single 'scheduled' transfer before GW8, so until then I'll be fine with tinkering. I'm keeping 1m in the bank to cover unexpected developments, but I'm not going to abandon Arsenal and City assets wholesale should those clubs have a couple of poor games.

      1. LangerznMash
        • 9 Years
        2 years, 6 months ago

Not necessarily saying it is a planned mini-WC... likely will have picked a could of flops and want to swap out for unearthed gems.

Most of my squad are 'safe bets'. Otherwise, there's Jackson - but I have money to upgrade him to Nkunku, Eze - but there's a raft of 6.5 mids to move sideways to, and Joao Pedro, my main GW3 risk. 2FT should sort something out there if necessary.

          1. LangerznMash
            • 9 Years
            2 years, 6 months ago

I'd probably say the same about my squad, however I'm starting with zero Chelsea so will want to move a couple in after GW2. Also like you I have Pedro who will be upgraded once the best mid-price forward option is apparent.

It's the best time of the year to take hits. Longest chance for them to be repaid, and good to get on early bandwagons for team value

Pedro the better 5.5m punt than nketiah??

Only thing I’m thinking is Havertz looked pretty poor, therefore nketiah might get the start on the weekend

You are completely wrong here. Arteta praised his play and said he did everything he wanted him to do (be physical, win the duels). He was unlucky not to score.

Such a clear agenda here, the guy had a decent game. Can't wait until people are considering Havertz for their teams soon. Remember Granit Xhaka of all people got 14 G+A playing the same position Havertz will assume for the majority of the season.

This happened on like one or two occasions only. BrunoF was still on the edge of the opponent's box loads and unlucky not to get a goal and assist (Garrnacho missed good chance).

    Article:
    "Guiding principles":
-Focus first on nailed-on, proven assets
-Avoid going too heavy on any single team (unless the opportunity is big enough)

    Result:
-x3 Arsenal, x3 Man Utd, x3 Chelsea (not sure they're 'proven')
-Picks Onana in goal (proven in the EPL?)

    Alvarez vs. Pedro.

Alvarez played the most minutes in pre season. May get a couple of starts.
    Handy differential.
    Best attack in the league.
    Decent fixtures.

    Pedro more nailed.
    On pens.
    Good fixtures.

    Thoughts?

For the first few I feel they are. Pedro more than Alvarez.
I'm personally looking for a placeholder until GW 3 or 4 when Nkunku might return.
But with the increased extra time I feel Alvarez could also do some damage regardless.

IF (if!) Kane stays, is anyone tempted by Haaland and Kane up front?

I have this draft at present:

    Pickford
    Gabriel / Estu / Chilwell
    Eze / Rash / Saka / Mbeuno / Mitoma
    Haaland / Kane

    GK (4), DF (4), DF (4), A (4.5)

Admittedly the bench is going to be very weak but I quite like that as a starting side.

Flekken isn’t a keeper i would go for as i think Pickford and Johnstone are better keepers for the price. The defence is too weak so I would downgrade diaby to a 4.5 mid to upgrade a def but the rest looks fine.

Kane is ranked 2 I think, Salah 3. I picked Salah above Kane.

But if Haaland and Salah go first, then yeah I'd risk picking Kane.

        Thanks.

I would definitely pick Salah over Kane. Same for Saka and Rashford. But not sure where my limit is at. Trent? Watkins? Bruno? Lot's of season keepers that will tick along nicely that would be a shame to miss, if Kane leaves.

Hopefully someone else picks him before I have the cange, and then he leaves for Bayern

Has anyone on here used the "Rate my team" tool on Fantasy Football Hub? Some of the FPL guru's on Youtube have been raving about it.

I've been using it. It's all hype, just a random algorithm with no more insight than you or I.
I made a 99% squad and I thought it was rubbish. My current draft is about 92% I think, and I'm much more happy with it.

All these magical machines that can predict the future with AI & models are a load of Baldocks.

All they do is use data from last season and then the dev adds in their own opinion about how many minutes they think they'll get this season.

I honestly don't see the use of it. Most FPL managers will be looking to bring in players that have the best fixtures over 5-6 gameweeks, so deliberately picking players just to get the highest % possible for gameweek 1 is risky. Players which produce high gameweek 1 ratings may have crap fixtures for the next 3 gameweeks, whereas players that produce a lower rating for gameweek 1 may end up averaging more points over the same period because they have easier fixtures.

I can't see many draft teams with TAA in there.
8.0 for what is effectively a nailed on Liverpool midfielder + CS points.

Just cant see him being better value at that price at the moment with city, arsenal and Chelsea having better fixtures. Having 3 x 5.5m def than having TAA, 4m def & 4.5 def is much better long term.

Overrated. There are multiple 7.5-8.5 mids that will outscore him but there aren't that many 5.5-6 mids/fwds that would outscore Chilwell/Estupinan etc.

I still believe TAA could be a good pick.
        It's a basic FPL equation:
Out of Position defender + attacking potentional = potential haul

8mil for the 3rd best point scoring defender last year is a joke, shoulda been lower. I'm looking to get him in GW 9 WC, hopefully be lower by then and we actually have a defensive mid in our ranks.

    5. Piggs Boson

Liverpool's first choice holding midfielder is Curtis Jones.

This is not the Liverpool of old. They're getting out-muscled financially.

Liverpool arent going to rush a signing, losing Hendo and Fabinho was unexpected. I'm confident they'll get the right 2 in this window, Lavia will do but I'm hoping Fluminense get knocked out of the libertadores so we get the best player in Brazil right now according to their local pundits, Andre looks class from what I've seen

Ferguson gonna be competing with Wellbeck for the no.9 role mostly. Think it'll be either Pedro or Encico for the no 10 role although Enciso can play LW aswell

I would steer clear of this dilemma as they have Europe as well so i can see a lot of rotation here and throw in welbeck into the mix it could end in tears. I’m sticking to Mitoma for now until we get more info

Latest attempt at a Salah draft...

    Johnstone,
    Stones, Estu, Gabriel
    Salah, Martinelli, Saka, Eze, Bruno
    (H)aaland, Pedro

    (Areola, Mubama, Kabore, Beyer)

    0ITB

Main concern is Bruno over Rashford...

Also, do you think Eze is the best 6.5m Mid? Happy to not go Mitoma as don't want to double Brighton attack

Yeah I like this team, similar to mine above. Unsure of Martinelli atm so I would maybe look at Foden or Maddison for that last midfield spot which could allow you to upgrade to Bruno
