Stubborn of me to keep Gabriel?

I might be jumping the gun but I’m looking to get him out of my team immediately.

Arsenal struggled at times last season breaking down low block defenses, I think Arteta’s way to deal with it will be the formation we saw today + Jesus. And clearly between the Tomiyasu sub and Gabriel being benched, he doesn’t see Gabriel as capable of playing LCB or RCB (which is fair, Timber and White fit that profile better)

So I could see a situation where Gabriel gets rotated a ton, especially against teams Arsenal expect to play a low block. Essentially meaning he only plays the tougher fixtures, which would destroy him as an asset

I'm keeping so I'll have two transfers for GW3 but starting to think those who start in GW2 might be on to something, a week's worth of info can be very valuable

Pretty sure he plays next couple of games at least - I think this was more of an experiment for potential home games against super low block teams, won't be happening that often imo. I'm keeping for now I think

I think it was tactical to have another attacker against a low block at home. I think he'll start against Palace

It was, and the tactics were clear to see. He came on late to protect a lead by going 4 at the back. Arteta won't play that formation every match but the easier games will probably be more attacking with a Back 3. It's hard to say which way he'll go away to palace - he might start Gabriel but it's a gamble.

Home games against rank opposition Gabriel will be benched until Arteta figures out even they can score.

An excellent opportunity for around one million managers to practice their benchwankery skills next weekend. For me it'll be Beyer (c).

I guess the whole point of uberwankery (where you use your captaincy as well) is that it offers a manager a somewhat pleasant fear of this actually happening.

    Reposting from the last article:

The next template is going to be a Chelsea one, that’s my guess. Seeing a huge lack of their players across the teams in my league. I’m already eyeing slowly moving my team to something like this over the next couple of weeks:

    Turner (Areola)
    James Chilwell Estupiñan (Baldock, Beyer)
    Salah Rashford Saka Richarlison (Nakamba)
    Haaland Jackson Pedro

I didn’t put them in my team so I can see who their best assets are. Lots of people went for Chilwell but if James is on penalties, they’ll wish they could reverse that

I have Chillwell and Gusto, , if James is on Pens, that fact Chilwell is on every corner, and a lot of set pieces i am fine with that. (not enough for a knee jerk with his injury record. Chilwell had one long injury)

I'll get Colwill next week, so I can bench my City defender v Liverpool. I thought I was getting Sanchez GW3 after the window closes, but that does depend on Chelsea not bringing in another keeper as well as Caicedo bedding in and locking down the defence. Chilwell likely follows soon after - or Jackson if he surprises me.

        Colwill is a solid shout!

I think being early on Chilwell or Jackson could be huge over the course of GWs 2-4. West Ham and Luton looked horrendous defensively at times

I would go Gabriel to Saliba now, because I expect Gabriel to drop in price. I already made the move, with the theory animating that move (1) I want an Ars defender, for now; (2) Gabriel seems less nailed than Saliba; and (3) I don’t want to lose salary because I waited a bit.

I mean, it’s been one week. It’s an interesting strategy either way.

You're happy not getting more than 3 points per GW from your keeper and 2 from each defender? I'm a bit more ambitious than that.

In fact, your defenders got 2, 1 and 0 points. Embarrassing.

But my team overall, with three attackers to play, still got more points than yours.

There will be gameweeks especially when defenses are settled there will be more clean sheets. Estu should have had a cs were it not for the fluke penalty given

Come on Sheff Utd were not that bad 🙂 Their Keeper had 7 saves and 2 goals were offside.

      Thought we played well today.

We miss Olise, but Ayew loves playing under Roy.

Zaha only played 270 mins out of Roys 10 games last season, so Olise missing is making Eze do more work.

      Lerma MoM, was amazing debut

Lerma is a great signing. Big fan of your defence. Got Johnstone atm, but wouldn't be against doubling up at some point.

What are your thoughts on Chris Richards? Looked really good last season and played great for the USA in their cup win. If Anderson leaves for the Magpies, do you think he'll come in and do a good job?

          Thanks

We have a couple lined up just in case Anderson leaves.

Odilon Kossounou (on loan with an option to buy, this year anyway) and earlier in the window, Perr Schuurs, but thats getting more competitive.

I like Richards. Tomkins just came on with 3 mins + stoppage time for expeience when Guehi got cramp).

Club is doing all it can to keep Olise, who does have a release clause but like MaCallister at Brighton, is very complicated. and much higher than £35m as it either includes add ons, as Man City were quoted at bidding £50m so that maybe the fee with add ons. Also rumours that it is CL clubs only.

Reason why i mention this, is that we are supposed to be adding Lewis Hall and playing him as an inverted winger on the left.It should have been done on Thursday/Friday last week

          An OOP defender at 4.5m???

not sure why Richards isnt starting. He has been excellent, when called upon and USA, it was such a shame he picked up a bad injury just before the world cup

Rotating with Gordon, maybe Willock too. But a form Barnes is better than them.
