2pm team news: Foden a sub, Akanji absent

27 August 2023 1250 comments

avfc82

There are three Premier League games taking place on Sunday with a double-header up first at 14:00 BST.

Newcomers Burnley host Aston Villa, while Sheffield United meet Manchester City at Bramall Lane.

The champions make two changes from last week’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United, with Nathan Ake and Bernardo Silva coming in for Manuel Akanji and Phil Foden.

Akanji is missing from the matchday squad, while Foden is named among the substitutes, a bench that also includes new signing Jeremy Doku.

As for the hosts, they make just one alteration, with Max Lowe replaced by George Baldock.

Meanwhile, at Turf Moor, Burnley make two changes from Gameweek 1. Hannes Delcroix is handed a debut while Manuel Benson also makes the starting XI, with Jordan Beyer – who seemed to be struggling when coming off against Man City a fortnight ago – and Vitinho dropping out.

Aston Villa also make a couple of changes from midweek, with Robin Olsen and Matty Cash replacing the injured Emiliano Martinez and Leon Bailey, who only makes the bench.

GAMEWEEK 3 LINE-UPS

Burnley XI: Trafford, Al-Dakhil, Delcroix, O’Shea, Roberts, Berge, Cullen, Koleosho, Amdouni, Benson, Foster

Subs: Muric, Vitinho, Brownhill, Cork, Gudmundsson, Redmond, Ramsey, Larsen, Rodriguez

Aston Villa XI: Olsen, Konsa, Carlos, Torres, Digne, Cash, Kamara, Luiz, McGinn, Diaby, Watkins

Subs: Zych, Marschall, Chambers, Tielemans, Traore, Bailey, Zaniolo, Duran

Sheffield United XI: Foderingham, Ahmedhodzic, Egan, Robinson, Baldock, Norwood, Souza, Hamer, Osborn, Traore, Osula

Subs: Davies, Basham, Larouci, Trusty, Bogle, Coulibaly, Brooks, Marsh, McBurnie

Manchester City XI: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Ake, Gvardiol, Rodri, Alvarez, Kovacic, Bernardo, Grealish, Haaland

Subs: Ortega, Liews, McAtee, Bobb, Palmer, Phillips, Gomez, Foden, Doku

  Just Haaland here.

Was thinking about Salah/Rash to Foden before the price rise midweek, but saved the FT luckily.

I think I might stick with Haaland only for the rest of the season. Peps logic is too unpredictable.

Question: Have Foden owners been on blaming pep and all that?

When in fact they have nobody but themselves to blame.

Fool me once shame on pep, fool me 637484 times.....

1)Any updates on Salah, do you believe he could go to Saudi Arabia?

2)How many weeks does Gusto start?
Will James take his place or maybe he goes in central defence again

3) Is Gabriel worth the hit (-4) before he gets 4.8 if I have enough starting players for next week. He will stink the place but maybe wait until next GW and sell hil then?

  1) Update is same as before. He will go but probably next summer.
  2) Hamstrings usually mean 4-8 weeks out. Might get a bit longer because James is so injury prone.
  3) Nah, plenty of good 4.5 options.

    on 3)
I know there are good options.
My point is - should i take -4 when I have a team of Henry Estupinan and Chilwell already starting.
Take the 4.8 decrease seems more sensible and then maybe Botman comes in

Original plan is to ditch Rashford GW4. Now with Foden (illness I know), would you still remove Rashford or Foden instead? Have had them from GW1.

I want Foden on that pitch. People in my mini-leagues have Gusto or Udogie on the bench.
If I’m not getting my Udogie bench points, I don’t want anyone else getting their hands on them either.
Foden on at 88th min would do just fine thank you very much 😉

Unless Lillo is very different to Pep or isn't taking any instruction from him, chances are Foden will stay benched as Pep often makes little or no subs. Just have to accept it I'm afraid. I can't remember ever having good bench jam over the years
