Self-discipline must be hard with all the highs and lows at the top. It's a manager's job to manage that, but I guess some just get away. Shame. But happens at all aspiring levels too I suppose. It's the tough nature of competition and long may we love it.

I will only ever remember him as a moody petulant excuse of a footballer with a grossly overinflated ego who was exponentialy paid too much and rarely delivered. He is in Room 101 with Balotelli.

I'd actually feel far more sorry for Balotelli, I think he definitely had some attitude issues with a lack of focus, but also get the feeling he might have been a bit troubled and at times needed a bit more personal help than most. Pogba though always gave me the feeling of someone with an ego and endless sense of self-importance, always wanting everything tailored to his desires and needs.

The fella always seemed to want short cuts to me whether it is someone else to do the heavy lifting for him in a midfield three, only sporadic flashes of talent. No discipline, and no consistency.

From a fantasy football perspective one season early on Pogba looked that good that I wildcarded my team to get him in. Was really patchy after that.

Was that when Mourinho got sacked (clearly something Pogba was begging for)? I remember him having a brief period of a few weeks where he was excellent immediately after that. Then he reverted back to type.

I'd be very tempted by Onana to Leno. Bruno can get the Burnley game at least. Rash is back on the wing, so I'd leave him ticking along in the team for now, while monitoring the affordability of Bruno to Son for GW8, which might need Gvardiol to Udogie/Botman for funds

      1. FCSB
        • 9 Years

yes nice idea... frees up some funds too Onana >> Leno, you reckon he (Fulham) are a solid pick moving forward defensively?

          • 7 Years
          2 years, 2 months ago

Nope. I don't think Fulham is a strong defence. But that's what makes Leno a great FPL pick to me. A very good shot-stopper in a porous defence, who'll face enough pens to get a pen save in there as well

I'll hop off once the other defences in the league settle down and concede less often, especially the likes of Flekken and even Onana with fit defenders ahead of him

The three players tied top goalscorer in Euro qualifiers, so far, are contracted to Premier League clubs.

After 4 rounds of games they have a total Premier League 2023/'24 gametime of 30 minutes.

Some say the Super League wasn't needed because it already exists with EPL's TV revenue...

Another random fact: Osimhen (Nigerian) is the AFCON qualifiers' top scorer. He's got double the goals of the following 3 players tied for second with 5 each, including Mane

Join the league in the last GW so you're at the bottom (top) of the hall of shame.

Ît does not seem to be mentioned in these parts but Salah as an alternate captain Haaland aside; it must be noted Pool and Citeh play home and away fixtures at the same time. This means the slight downside on Haaland away fixtures is negated by Salah playing away at the same time. Thoughts?

it's a fair point and when most of the better picks are playing at home it's really a mix of Spurs, Villa, Man Utd or Newcastle who have tended to be the options playing away and vv.

So lots of popular picks are in the same home and away cycle which makes it a bit lopsided across the squad.

This seems to be the case. GW7 fixtures are good team vs team but many away games. Maybe a reason to go for the DGW in this case. Maybe not about total points but the gaps between good and bad,

Salah needs to get some double figure returns soon or he's not worth the price despite his consistency.

For me, there's way too much emphasis on H/A, an obsolete observation nowadays. Far more influential in predicting outcomes is the ranking of the opponent - most matches go according to form these days.
So for this GW, Wolves is far lower-ranked than West Ham, with Sheff United far below either.

I disagree and I'm pretty sure the data does too.

The home factor is a thing and always has been. It dipped in lockdown with no home fans but remained a differential and is more pronounced again, even in the top leagues.

I agree with your sentiments as mentioned above. IO do however, see the likes of Son who needs space to operate, performing against sides who press high and they are often the better sides. Burnley a case in point who do it but failing,

On paper I would agree, but I do think we've seen enough evidence over the years of certain trends between home and away games with certain teams and players to merit taking it into account (like Haaland's goal ratio at home, Liverpool's home form, etc.)

When the crowds went with Covid and crowds came back it proved what a difference home and away games were. Home crowds definitely have an effect on the home team, officials etc.
If home and away meant nothing, Forest would not be such a different side at the City Ground, and away from the City Ground.

Agree with this, Saliba is going out for me next week. Arsenal not keeping clean sheets (I don't expect one this week either) followed by Spurs, Bournemouth, City, Chelsea, Sheffield Utd and Newcastle Utd. I'd expect at best 2 clean sheets from that run

If I had Son I would go for him to be honest. I have Maddison but would not captain him, unless I knew he was on pens.

Yep currently on Son as I expect him to start up front again + imagine he’s on pens.

Not having Haaland captain is terrifying though. I missed 2 of his hatricks last season. Can’t happen again!

Been on Maddison all week. Haaland does look like he's picked up an extra layer of sharpness recently though, his finishing against Fulham was ridiculous even for him (especially that third goal). But despite getting burned on the Maddison pick last week I think I'm sticking with it again

Ouch. Going Maddison over Haaland at home was a bold move.

But Maddison with the home fixture is a shout. I’m leaning towards Son as I own both.

Likely to chicken out and go Haaland though haha

        1. Nate(U)dog(ie)

I wanted to do it the week before but was unsure if Maddison would start after him being a doubt early in the week so I chickened out, I also thought Palhinha would play v City and only after deadline read that he was actually in Bavaria trying to get the deal to Bayern done, so when I saw that and guessed he wouldn't play a day later I knew my race was run. At least I didn't bench Haaland for his hattrick like I did once last season thinking he'd get a rest 😛
