    If on a WC:
Would you include Porro over Udogie.?
Would you set up for Salah?
What Spurs attack would you have?
Will you prepare for the DGW?
    What keepers will you enroll?
    ManU players going forward?
    Newcastle choices?
Cheers in advance. You don't have to answer all the questions?

Unfortunately not worth taking the chance with Royal lurking

This seems to be a personal preference, personally I think Salah restricts bringing in Trent and a couple of 8s/9s in midfield

Keepers no idea. Perhaps Allison will prove worth it otherwise it seems a lottery. Anyone but Pickford seems the general consensus.

      Double on Madders and Son

No I'll only have a gander going into 7

Personally I don't want any right now despite playing Burnley next week

      Barnes, Almiron and Wilson/Isaak
I'm not keen on their defence, it might change if Hall wins a place

      Porro seems promising.
ManU too much uncertainties. Team not fluidic enough yet.
Regd Spurs why not both Madd and Son. Depends on ur other mids of course.
Doesn't hurt to have Morris for the Double.
Hesitant to pick Isak, with the fixture crunch. Defenders could be an option but will avoid a double up.
      GK's Areola and Leno

      No, prefer U
      No
      Son only
      I'd include Morris
      Leno and Areola
      Rashford only
Trippier for sure & maybe Wilson as i'd expect him to get more mins with Isak used more for champions league

Porro - tempting probably he will score one or two screamers but Royal may treat his gametime.
I have got him since the beginig of the season. Almost every week he looks like he can haul, but instead you get your customary 5 or 8 points. I would probably keep on WC.
In ideal world Son and Maddison.
      Morris
      Areola and Flekken probably.
I don't know. I would like to see them playing whole game with Hojlund.
Trippier, and see whether is any pattern in Howe's selection as regards to forward spot for example Iska starts i in PL and Wilson CL or the other way round:) That one who will play 70-75 miutes in PL may be a gold.

I never understand the price rises. Udogie has x5 the ownership since GW1 and has only risen 0.2??

price rises are suppressed so people can get on the next hottest player and don't pack it in by October.

Yes. Chilwell has x3 ownership since GW1 and has risen more. 0.3. Like EZE said, it’s bizarre there’s no transparency.

But by the same reasoning if a player has one owner in GW1 and 5 owners by GW 5, should they get a price rise?

I vaguely remember something about transfers while on a wildcard don't count towards price changes? Agree that more transparency is needed.

I don’t think complete transparency would make much difference. If the rules were documented and available you’d still rely on sites like FPL Statistics to estimate (and it can never be any more than that unless you want your current GW transfers to be visible to everyone) what it actually means in real terms.

      probably not but he might.

      he might start and score.

if he comes off the bench he'll be involved but might not score.

he's the definition of a headache player and Europa is going to mess with Brighton with the schedule and rotation so he's gotta go I think.

I'm thinking (c) punt Maddison over Haaland, already chickened out once this season not (c) Jota and ended up blaming myself...
Also, about Alvarez, would you keep him in the starting XI no matter what or, if we hear he is benched, would you do Osula to Morris?

I'd defo start Alvarez if I had him, otherwise you're second guessing Pep.

I think Haaland is a strong option for captain. Go with others where you fancy it but it's a double gamble in a way.

      1. Atimis
        • 9 Years

Even if we have a leak he won't start?

Haaland had 2 points at home vs Newcastle and I felt Jota should be (c), ofc went with Haaland, just wouldn't like to repeat this mistake again.

I would expect Raya to start the EFL Cup R3 game against Brentford, he has an agreement with Brentford that he can play in the fixture as he is on loan and not a permanent signing. Maybe the 1st UCL game against PSV but that would be harsh against Ramsdale and no indication Raya would be the UCL GK.

      1. Arteta
        • 10 Years
        2 years, 5 months ago

If Raya is meant to be only a cup keeper at the beginning, or let's go even further and say this season, he has to start in the Champions League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup. Otherwise, it's a waste of money, his qualities, and his talent. I don't understand why he would come here without any guarantees for gametime. They had to promise him something.

        1. Tonyawesome69
          • 7 Years

Raya is there to compete with Ramsdale in all games. Cup games is the easiest way to give him game time until Arteta gives him a run of league games.

The people who didn't cap Son in GW4 still got a huge rank boost

If he stays up top (and he should, imo), I think he's a level above Saka and Rashford long term. This is a very clinical lad striking for a coach who loves creating chances without really trying to defend or protect leads

Do you think there is much in choosing between Estu and Henry this week? Don't think either will keep CS, attacking return more likely from Estu vs Utd?

CS % are low for both teams. I would think Estupinan has a higher chance to get an attacking return against a United defence than Henry away to Newcastle.

      BRE: 14%

Of the two, I'd go with Estupinan.

Has created more chances than Henry, and facing a depleted Man United defence.

Both will concede imo as shown in the clean sheet odds below:

      BRE: 14%

              Chilwell v Estupiñán:

              Goals: 0 v 1
              SOT: 1 v 3
              SIB: 5 v 4
              Assists: 1 v 2
              Chances created: 9 v 12
              Crosses: 16 v 18

Think I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. Seems like Estupiñán is more attacking to me...

Value heat maps more personally. Chilwell gets into the box more often than Estu. Almost like a forward that Jackson is assisting.

Wouldn't put much weight into goals and assists for this particular question as that's more relevant to efficiency. Romero isn't more attacking than Chilwell because he has two goals.

Worth pointing out that Chilwell has been played as a left winger in some of those games - it will depend if he stays there. The fact Estu almost equals his stats from a LB role is incredible.

I haven't used just goals and assists though 😉

If it's efficiency you're looking for:

                  Goal attempts: 6 v 6
                  SOT: 1 v 3

Don't get me wrong, it's close, but for me Estupiñán beats Chilwell for attacking threat...

Just ran a comparison of their stats, and it's pretty close between them:

Estu wins it on involvement, baps, pen box touches & distribution.
Chilwell wins it on xGI, attempts, dribbles & actually defending.

They're both miles ahead of anyone else, and I think Chilwell has been particularly unlucky.

I have both and I'm playing them without question.

BRE have a good defence, quite potent attack and they'll give NEW a good game.

I'd still buy Foden over Sterling. All it's gonna take is one double digit haul and people will be reminded that Foden is a fairly nailed attacker for the best attack in the league. The fixtures are not bad for the next few either before first WC. Chelsea and Sterling are very inconsistent. It's a chance to beat the template.

If money is no issue and even those on WC at the moment can go this route, just sharing.

Do yourself a spreadsheet with a defence of Estupinan, Dunk, Cash, Udogie and Porro.

Unfortunately it means you can only have one mid from Brighton and Spurs at any given time but you will be sitting every GW from 8 to 18 picking from 5 defenders all offering attacking returns and fixtures are spot on for rotation.

There are possibilities that it works but maybe looking too far ahead. Yu made the point it can restrict you considerably from more likely moves in attack later. Also, remove 1 of the 5 and the defenders slip mightily down the scale.

Poor old Richarlson knows he is going to need to get stuck in and concentrate on his football now instead of crying on TV earning almost 200k a week and telling the whole world he needs a psychologist.

Is he the only footballer having problems in his life? I whis I was earning that kind of money. Would not know what to do with it.

I think you already indicated why I wouldn't consider defensive double up for Brighton and Spurs. I would prefer to leave the option open to double up in attacking teams. Maddison and Son are nailed but for Brighton it is difficult to call with RDZ rotating attackers depending on availability.

I think far too much emphasis is put onto XGI from content creators.
4 games with home/away, massive fixture differences and most importantly, one very good match and divided by 4 looks good, when in actual fact, the player could have had 1 good game from 4.
Eye test guys and prior season standards must surely play a bigger part?

      1. boc610

but if the big chances are continually being created then you cant ignore that. look at haaland.he's actually had some stinkers this season, i though he was really poor against burnely and sheffield united and average in other games but with those players around him he's going go get huge chances and eventually score. take awonwi at forest. aguably the best form striker in the league considering he;s getting very few what would be called big XG chances but his conversion rate is incredible. but do you go for him over jackson whose getting big chances made for him but not scoring all of them?. i still go for jackson in terms of whats sustainable over a whole season

        1. Andy_Social
          • 13 Years

I'm (up to a point) with Eze. The eye test tells you Haaland is a stallion and Jackson is a donkey. Haaland can have a quiet game, miss a couple of chances, blow a penalty, but you know the class is there and will out sooner rather than later. No matter how many chances Jackson gets, he lacks composure, and a far higher proportion of those chances will be squandered.

What xGI DOESN'T tell you is whether it means the striker is exceptional, like a Kane or Son who exceeds it with real goals, or whether he's terrible and habitually spurns easy (high xG) chances. If you just watch YouTube prattlers and not the actual games, you're missing out on the most important data - the eye test.

          1. boc610
            • 14 Years

ive never wathced to content like this and never will but in fairness my understanding of XG is its there to supplement not replace other info. so the eye test is still important. and i dont agree jacskon is a donkey, that certainly wasnt the narrative after luton or even before. And Son had been lacking composure right up until GW 4 to dont forget. so if he passed the eye test in one game -granted he's opp-do we ignore the others?

Agree 100%. Of course, most of us have to fit this in around some kind of professional and social life (or vice versa) and a few stats can help when we can't watch some games. You were being sent on a government trip to USA, right Andy?

Whenever considering xGI, I like to look at the delta too - this can give an indication of how clinical/profligate someone is.

I go next week. I fully expect my FPL season to be destroyed! I've actually set my team up for two weeks, having to ignore GW5 outcomes out of necessity. I'm not saying stats are irrelevant and I appreciate the eye-test is not accessible to all; my point is that for me, the eye-test outweighs ambiguous data.

Brutal - good luck with it! I remember hunting out an internet cafe in the Mexican jungle a couple of years ago to ensure I had my team ready for the start of the season.

Yep, I appreciate your point - the eye-test gives you some of those finer, more intangible details.

Arguably Brighton have too many FPL attacking options that it's not easy to pick a dominant points scorer. With Europa imminent there will prob be a few GWs hit by rotation. Fati is wait and see for me, fitness and how he adapts to PL to watch first.
