Played my wildcard ages ago, but seeing some of the ‘experts’ playing theirs this week has got me thinking. Here’s what I would do if I had one!

    Johnstone
    Schar Porro Cash
    Son Saka Odegaard Diaz Bowen
    Haaland Nunez

    Areola Foster Aguerd Gabriel

Granted, Diaz and Nunez could be benched GW9 due to the International Break, but a Gakpo injury could mean only one is benched for that gameweek. Clearly, Diaz and Nunez first choice.

        yeah

otherwise you'll need to wildcard to get Salah in

it's all becoming a bit circular

        and budget is a thing.

Porro might be better than Udogie, better underlings and last season attackjng returns

Not sure how people can justify Watkins when he has no pens, and Diaby playing basically second striker for 6.8.

It is a grass vs paper thing. On paper I think he is a bad pick, on grass, perhaps not. Is this one game a massive outlier though

Would it be “smart” to take a -4 for Pinnock > Udogie?

Im investing in future fixtures and potential CS this week which could cancel out the hit. Hope im making sense, cheers

Would prefer Porro if you can manage it, I've had Udogie from GW1 and he's had two very tough games with Saka and Salah to deal with so they might be outliers, but I think Porro has been more attacking and better in general play of late. Had a superb game against Arsenal in particular

    Archer, Watkins, Haaland

    3.9, Gordon, Estu, Taylor

Well one 99% of the way there:

          Turner - Areola
          Trippier - Cash - Udogie - Lamptey - Taylor
          Salah - Son - Diaby - Bowen - Nakamba
          Haaland - Alvarez - Watkins

No Saka but can easily swap Son out in a couple of weeks. Bruno is not a good pick.

Was the same story last week though, heaps of people WCd and I'd say quite a lot with very similar teams. Anyone that's able/willing to hold on until after the next IB might be in a good position to get the jump on others between GW10-18 or so, but there's always the risk there as well that you're playing it too late and don't benefit much from it if big swings in fixtures or form don't appear

lol, well they probably thought Wissa was being aggressive and the keeper has to clear it. It therefore might be the right call.

He was going to kick the ball and Wissa was coming from behind him. Is he supposed to have eyes on the back of his head?

yea, Wissa basically ran into the path of his leg, maybe to try get a foul , if not score. Keeper cant do anything here but attempt to kick the ball away.

Yep. And even Wissa didn't appeal for a pen. Mbeumo owners reeking of desperation

Regardless, Turner is so terrible, not sure I want him in wc now. He might even lose his place.

    Areola ( Turner )
Estu Cash Udogie ( Botman / Baldock )
    Maddison Bowen Salah Saka Mitoma
    Haaland Alvarez ( Archer )

    Suggestions please :

    A) Estu > Trippier
    B) Botman / Mitoma > Burn / Diaby
    C) Something else ??

A if you have the funds. The team is strong and doesn't need much work. It would be nice to fit Diaby into your midfield, but you've five excellent players already there.

Anyone else annoyed that every year it becomes increasingly harder to be at a good ranking due to more players but especially more content sharing and less merit for staying "ahead of the curve". I had a great week played my WC last week had the likes of bowen diaby salah son maddison cash and barely got a rank increase from 1.2m to 1m. Next week so many people will have that team

I don’t buy the “everyone’s copying content creators so you can’t get ahead of the curve” this year as most of them are really struggling with rank.

It’s been a weird season so far. Many managers that would traditionally finish comfortably in top 50k are currently outside top 1-2 million.

There has been some massive swings based on a few big hauls (Mitoma, Trippier, Watkins) but I suspect it will settle down over the next 4-5 weeks and the managers making consistently good selections will start to build some momentum.

Eddie Nketiah for game week 8? He's playing up front even when Jesus is fit.

Why? If Wolves can beat City at home then Arsenal can too.

Pep will be so mad. City are going to play so tight vs Arsenal.

True, but Pep will still be without Rodri, De Bruyne, Bernardo and Stones. I can see both teams scoring.

Only due to Trossard and Martinelli not available to play LW. Trossard was on the bench against Bournemouth

Wolves beat Man City. I'm not saying that Arsenal will win, all I'm suggesting is that if Arsenal score then Nketiah could be involved.

        • 3 Years

Maybe, but I suspect that Nketiah is the more likely to play up front when Trossard is fit.

Jesus is ahead of Nketiah to play CF imo

Just checked and Jesus is flagged, so I suspect Nketiah is more likely to start v City.

Nope. Doesn’t have the fixtures and will struggle to hold his place when everyone is fit

The fixtures aren't great but then again, Arsenal are a team that can score goals irrespective of who the opponenet is.
