I've been waiting for strakosha to start. Thought it might happen gw1. Was a matter of time though. Better keeper than flekken

Apparently Flekken was ill and hat is why he did not start.

Would be great if Strakosha starts next game, I would be tempted to bring him in.

There are reports Flekken could be out until “mid November”. Bit of a strange “illness” but maybe the club is not free to discuss? Anyway, Brentford’s schedule not too appealing during that time.

They can't and shouldn't discuss private medical issues but without speculating what's wrong there are common illnesses (like infectious mononucleosis for example) where you aren't going to recover in a week or two.

I was momentarily interested since I've scheduled bringing in Turner next GW. In fact it's a pretty rotten run of fixtures Strakosha stands to inherit. I'll go with Turner and cross my fingers he starts GW9 (after that Areola will get a run). I won't make any transfer until just before the deadline so hopefully we'll know who the keepers are.

Small green from 110k to 105k. I'll take it considering I had botman, Saka, Eze and Awoniyi fooked.

Switch from Haaland to Salah done. Haaland, Eze to Watkins, Salah

    Martinez
    Pinnock Udogie Trippier
Salah (C) son Maddison Saka Sterling
    Alvarez Watkins

    Areola Awoniyi Colwill Tavares

Moves I want to get done are Awoniyi to foster, sterling to Bowen, Martinez to Raya.

I am strangely drawn to Foster, but looking at his career stats he has either massively levelled up over the summer or been very very lucky this year.
      Worth the 0.5 over Archer?

      1. Little Frank

As a Burnley fan, I'd say he's definitely worth the extra 0.5. Three goals and an assist from 6 games (and it really should have been four goals but for a ridiculous VAR intervention against Forest), guaranteed starter, central to much of Burnley's attacking play and easier fixtures looming. Almost worth considering him as a seventh attacker rather than bench fodder.

Agree re Foster. From my country as well, South Africa 🙂

Not the flashiest player but he has shown that he is a decent finisher and will tick along nicely which is exactly what you require from an enabler.

Gotta look a bit deeper. He's a baller. In January when they spent big on him he was one of the stand out players in Belgium that season. Was never suited to the championship. Kompany had no doubts he was the man to lead their attack in the premier league though. Definitely worth the extra over Archer. With his long term fixtures he is even a worthy starter a lot of the time. I've been saying for weeks he's the best value attacker.

GL with going without Haaland! I believe as long as you have all three of Saka, Son and Salah you can manage without him.

I would consider changing Colwill and Tavares for defenders with better fixtures then you can deal with blanks and flags. Perhaps you will have the enough ITB when you do Awoniyi to Foster.

I just looked at how I could get Salah in and all I need to do is:

    Rashford to Salah
    Johnstone to Areola
    Gvardiol to Branthwaite

    So that's a -8 or a wildcard.

Happy to keep everyone else. I had £2.5m in the bank.

Should I do the -8 or wildcard?

Does it matter, it is a team I am happy with. Enough people bore everyone with their entire team, I was just focusing on the -8 question.

If you are happy with the rest of your team and you can save your WC then go with your gut about the -8.

I don't have a gut feeling about a -8, I'm just asking is it worth it to save the wildcard.

        1. Andy_Social

For me, it depends when you intend to wildcard. If you plan on saving it until GW18 or 19, an 8-point hit now is fine. But taking hits now only to WC the week or 2 GWs after, is unlikely to pay off.

For what it's worth it did Estu, Eze & Wilson to Archer, Cash & Salah last GW for a -8. Got a green arrow due to captaining Salah.

But that's only part of the story. Goalkeepers score points as well, as do defenders. Areola has been returning nicely and is the 4th highest scoring keeper. I doubt Branthwaite will be played every week like most 4.0m defenders. Plus getting rid of the awful Rashford for the consistently awesome Salah is a win-win no-brainer. Portsmouth fan btw, so he last observation is not partisan.

The Areola and Branthwaite are purely to afford it, I don't have to get rid of other players: Big H, Saka, Maddison, Watkins etc.

Tempted to do one of these moves now and just hit the Wildcard if a lot of injuries come. What do you think?

    1) Rashford and Bruno -> Salah and Palmer
    2) Rashford, Bruno and Bowen -> Salah, Diaby and Gordon/Neto (-4)
    3) Rashford -> Diaby/Saka

    (2FT, 0.6 itb)

    Johnstone (Turner)
    Trippier/Udogie/Cash (Kabore, Beyer)
    Son/Maddison/Bruno/Rash/Bowen
    Haaland/Alvarez (Usula)

Estupinan likely going to double drop over the IB. If he is fit by GW10, even despite BHA defence being an absolute nightmare, will want to get him back for those fixtures from GW10 so fingers crossed, he is back by then.

Wow 30 points for Salah. Got him on WC and he’s saved my season. Even got bench jam with Saka and Guehi. 72 points and now 670k.

Big regret is no Trippier. I could have got him in a 3-4-3 with Neto as 4th mid but I had no bench so went with Burn to strengthen bench. I guess this will be a big issue for many players

I wouldn't reduce it to that. There's plenty debater over Salah/no Salah, keeping Haaland or not, retaining United assets and whether to keep/bring in Arsenal assets. Seems to me we're as refreshingly non-templatey as we've been in a long long time.

Fair points. There are plenty of options at the moment. Having Trippier on WC when your TV is around 102m means a lot of sacrifices though.

    3. Nanook
      • 4 Years

Unpopular opinion. It’s ok to go without Trippier. You can have a Newcastle defender for 0.6 mil of your disposable income. Trippier costs 2.5-2.8 mil depending on when you got him, roughly 5x. That’s a fair price to pay for his attacking output. Not a bad pick by any means and he’s a fun defender to own. But not essential. Many ways to play but important to make your decisions from your convictions. Sounds like you did that, no regrets. Enjoy your Salah haul.

      1. Andy_Social
        • 13 Years

For me, Trippier is the only defender I've paid over 4.5m for, so overall my defence is still ultra-cheap.

          • 4 Years

Certainly not a poor pick at all. I was just encouraging Pog Champ to roll with his instincts since he didn’t choose him on WC. I agree that there seem to be more obvious variations in the way the FFS community is playing/thinking this season. I like it too.

    Turner (Areola)
    Cash, Udogie, Trippier (Gusto, Lamptey)
    Son, Maddison, Salah, Diaby, Bowen
    Haaland, Alvarez (Archer)

Good to go? Why so many taking haaland out?

Because currently his price doesn't reflect his returns and cheaper players seem to be doing better after 8 GWs. City look less dependant on Haaland goals to get results. Usually good for City. It's arguable if that's good or bad for FPL.

How long is it going to last though? I got the sense Pep went too cautious against Arsenal and paid the price. I suspect that after losing 3 in a row he's going to spend the next fortnight rethinking and come out far more offensive. I wouldn't want to be without Haaland when he suddenly goes from no shots to a dozen.

It'll probably last until De Bruyne is back and finding Haaland better than other City players can. Might WC then. Hopefully not before then. City can still be more offensive and not have Haaland as Plan A without plans C or D or more.

Pep can't afford to wait for KDB. He'll be looking for a solution now. Rodri will help, but it's the passing and moving in attack that's not knitting together.

To have some fun instead of to following the almost entire fantasy teams . Probably back fire I've done it but I know the risk just trying to play the other fixtures and then hide like I did last evening and it paid off .
Currently no man city or man utd or arsenal attackers and no Newcastle which will change suspect I'll get isak in and the following week Bowen from west ham

This gives me those TC Sane vibes. Remember when was subbed off when chasing and the dropped when some players capped him. Another possibility is that Alvarez was told to run and press for the planned minutes. He tried to press even Raya to lose the ball twice.

Probably not want you want to hear, but I think if it was me I'd actually wildcard now (most I'm guessing won't agree). But it all depends on what team structure you want moving forward. Personally I'd prefer Salah over Darwin so would move to a 3-5-2 formation. But as I said above the team overall possibly only needs a couple of moves

Took a -12 this week to get in Salah, Darwin, Turner and Gabriel. They all returned and I got my first green arrow in ages. My only regret is going for Son (c) over Salah. Feel better in a better place going forward now though.

It was a lucky one. I played him with Trippier and Cash. My bench defenders were Al-Dakhil and Kabore. I just felt that Gabriel is a good pick going forward and although I was not expecting a clean sheet, I did think he might get a goal.

City setup is going to get very interesting once KDB is back. Expected back in December but now with Pep saying could be sooner, think it will throw another spanner into the works as all of a sudden if you want to go with KDB, makes the repercussions for your team even worse when wanting to own both Salah and Haaland.

Saka, Son, Trippier, Maddison and Alvarez also from the list that you would want.

    Interesting times ahead for FPL!

KDB returned once before ahead of schedule only to suffer recurrence of the injury. He's no longer a medium term option imo.

It will be the return of Pep roulette in attack though. At the moment you can pretty much figure out who is nailed.

Once KDB is back the frustration sinks in again. Don't think any player in attack will be safe.

a 5 minute meltdown from brighton was the only thing that kept liverpool in that game and the only really good passage of liverpool play, , all the attackers were dreadful. diaz running around like a headless chicken, nunez not getting service but not making god runs either. he doesnt do enough from game to game. as a pool fan whose watched all their games this season that was easily their worst performance

    1. FOO FIGHTER

Liverpool had to be cautious as Brighton had the LFC defence pinned to the wall. Brighton were lucky not to concede more either.

      Draw was a fair result.

i actually dont think it was fair at all. brighton (mainly mitoma) were cutting us to pieces and it was one of the misses of the season from pedro. they played all the football and only one very damaging blip-which they are prone to -let us back in.

Pedro let you off big-time there, though you could say the same thing about the Gravenberch chance up the other end. Agree that Liverpool looked poor and disorganised and you just cannot have senior players making those mistakes (Robertson especially) if you want to be in a title race.
