This season has been a rollercoaster so far with variance playing huge part

I have got 4 gws of 60 points or above and 4 gws of 46 points or below.

You either had a very good week or very bad one No inbetween.

    Anyone else similar?

GW totals are only important relative to everyone else's scores.

I'd rather 46 points when the average is 30 over 60 points when the average is 61.

Name any season where "variance" didn't play a huge factor. It would be impossible for it to be otherwise.

Not since gw2 and gw3 did I have massive swings in points. Since then I had a run of small red arrow after small red arrow five in a row.

    Tripper, Saliba, Cash, udogie, Kabore
    Saka, Maddison, Bowen, Sterling, Mbeumo
    Haaland, Watkins, Alvarez

    A. WC:

Funny old season - can't think of one quite like it.

Two weeks ago I was ahead of all of the Great and the Good (400K). As of right now I would be in the bottom half of the league (1.5m).

Lots of scope for us all to slip up, but it shows that there is lots of scope to make up ground too.

Each week there are one or two fairly well owned players who do really well and they are dictating the large rank swings.

Lots of sort of 20-30% owned players, and they have weeks scoring 10-20 points when the majority of largely owned players end up with

also its a positive for Watkins but Diaby isn't a very selfish player and most seasons ends up with as many assists or even more than goals.

We have basically same teams, I have Morris + Marvelous instead of your Gordon + Archer. And I have Tarko + 0.4 itb (2 ft:s) over Kabore. How much money do you have?

I don't think selling Trippier is the right answer. I believe them to get similar points. Downgrading Son to Arsenal player if he blanks vs Fulham might be on the cards, but even that is not enough. Alvarez after itb is small question mark, but I expect him to start and ruthless reaction from MCI vs Bri. So for me it's a wait and see and possible injury or dip of form will decide. I also believe that main damage by Watkins is already done.

Cheers, yeah i think it'll wait on the watkins move for now. I'll need to use a FT before deadline but not sure what to do. Depends if Botman is back or not i could move him to Gabriel or something. not a lot of moves I can make really unless i'm doing a downgrade somewhere. Will see how spurs get on and maybe move one to Martinelli

Yes, our teams are pretty much the GW7 WC template I believe. For me the issue is that Son to Martinelli doesn't free up enough funds for Morris to Watkins if I get Gabriel now. I'd have exact money if I downgrade Botman to 3.9 but annoyingly Lamptey is 4.0 now.

I believe 3-4-3 with Watkins, Haaland and Alvarez to be best formation for a couple of game weeks starting gw10.

Not hoping injuries to anyone but chances for at least one to happen is probably quite high. Usually there are a lot of so called international injuries and miracle recoveries, but not looking like it now. Therefore the risk of real ones could be higher.

There is no such thing as expensive Villa defender (injured Moreno is not in contention). Cash playing OOP RW certainly isn't one. Besides, I would get only 4.8 for selling him and 0.3 wouldn't help me now at all.

Also, people confusing a wildcard for a free hit. The WC is planned with many weeks in mind, comparing a single GW in isolation is not what this game is about.

Every move we make has consequences good or bad. I wildcarded in GW3 and 4 players I removed all did very well the week after if I remember but as things are now Nuñez is the only player I would want back from 9 players I changed back then. Players will always do well in some weeks, that’s why we choose them in the first place. But it’s just impossible to know when and we can’t all be so lucky to avoid players hauling after we sell.

      2. drughi

Salah captain in both cases so just a bad wildcard, mostly getting rid of sterling and pickford went haywire. Alot ground to make up on original team now

third straight season where it looks like I'm messing up a good start, been top 5k inside the first 15 weeks for last 3 seasons and not been able to capitalize which is very frustrating

I sold Sterling the week after hit Luton haul and I wouldn’t really want him back. You sold Sterling and that was logical imo. And one clean sheets from Pickford all season so that’s another player I would want either.

That's the problem of timing WC if dead ending team with every player having bad fixture isn't possible. Neither of them were long term picks. Having said that, I did get Tarkowski only for two weeks on gw7 WC, but also sold Colwill who first hauled immediately. One week is always too small sample size and sometimes 50/60 calls just fail.

Pathetic 34 points this week. Getting hacked off with my GK, defence and not having Salah. Should I WC?

    Onana
    Cash - Trippier - Ruben

This game is only about a bit of fun, anything more serious and you allow the game to become something else and make you miserable. If you are hacked off I recommend you activate your wildcard and try and pick a quality and fun squad will players you enjoy. Alternatively take a break these next two weeks and reassess down the road.

You seem to have a lot of players that people are WC’ing in. If you really want Salah and don’t want to take a big hit, you’re going to have to sacrifice Son or Trippier as well as getting rid of Rashford. I’d do that rather than WC’ing.

My players do actually have good fixtures this week. Is Salah > Son fixture wise? Maybe not so much. I might just try and get through GW9 and reassess after that. Cheers

Personally I’d try and get Salah from selling Rashford and try and keep Son. For the rest of the money you may need to downgrade one of Mitoma or Bowen which could easily backfire but there’s some good cheap midfielders

And ditching Onana is worth a hit!

WC is not the worst idea to get a proper reset but you do have a lot of the right players.

I'd WC that for gw10 or perhaps reassess then. That way you could get double or triple Arsenal, Salah and Watkins. WC now might backfire big time if Son and Maddison find their shooting boots.

Darwin has a total of 7 assists in his LFC career which is not very significant but fwiw, every assist was for a Salah goal.

It is Colombia vs Uruguay on Thu, 12 Oct so both will have a late return.

Then Wed, 18 Oct second set of matches for both Diaz and Nunez.

So have the Thursday to rest, Friday and Saturday morning to get back up to speed.

They are at Anfield, not playing away like last time so there is a chance both could start this time.

Hopefully good thing for Alvarez as well, 2nd game is also the Wednesday and City are at home.

What a mess this site is sometimes...

One erratic user blames another erratic user, who obviously had his real account suspended, for trolling and calls for an admin that likes to blame its' users for the site's problems...giving him 5 min to respond.

Sure, everyone can do this but such an attitude decreases engagement among commenters (members of a community???)

And then the quality of discussion declines as a result.

He has 5 goals from something like 12 shots so his finishing has been clinical. Not sure it's sustainable. Neto is class though and he is likely to be involved in much of Wolves do. Not sure either has the chance to be explosive in that side. Might tick right along . . .

I didn't watch the whole of last match. Soucek playing in the middle cost Bowen G, but he did run to second wave into the middle, but unfortunately it was easy pass to Soucek. Camzy said here that Bowen playing RW is good enough. Bowen playing centrally would be much better imo, but fixtures are better than excellent so I at least am keeping now. I fear immediate brace if I sell him. It's the Spurs' Sons that I am more worried.

Bowen up top suits him very well imo 😉 However, I don't think we have sample size big enough. However, unlike Son, Bowen has aerial threat which makes him good CF, at least from fpl point of view. Son is more clinical with foot though. Bowen has passed the eye test for me.

        Sounds good, could well thrive...

He was already a forward though, and coming in from the right looked like it suited him

Son as a winger was stuck out wide per manager with very little threat...

Saka going to drop. I do not think his next match, which he will almost definitely be fit for, is a tough one against Chelsea and fully expect Arsenal to win that match. Then, apart from Newcastle, it is a run of relatively easy fixtures. Why are people selling?

      1. The Big Fella
        • 9 Years

Arteta said he was in contention for City. He didn't play and he will miss England, but I imagine that is just to give him a rest. I suppose I will wait for the press conference at the end of the international break but I fully expect this just to be a case of letting him rest and international breakitis

I can understand this perspective but I just don't trust Arteta on Saka's fitness.

A two week rest might have sorted him out before the Bournemouth and Lens games

It certainly would have but it didn't happen, so now it is what he will do with him going forwards. I know, his pressers are absolutely useless.

I wouldn't mind shifting him necessarily but it would have to be to spend the money elsewhere such as Saka to Gordon and Burn to Trippier, for example. Then I wouldn't be able to bring him back in.

2 free transfer and 0 in the bank

    What would you do?

    Areola, Turner

    Trippier, Cash, Udogie, Tarkowski, Kabore

Salah, Son, Bowen, B. Fernandes, Anderson

    Haaland, Alvarez, Morris

    A) Morris to Foster (and get 0,5 in cash)
    B) Bruno to Maddison or Diaz

5,8 so could be someone like Neto, Gordon or Rodrigo

There are some good options then.
Alternative is to sell BF and Anderson and go to five man midfield so you don't have to play Morris, but that's money stuck on the bench.

So I can roll this week and then do Rashford & Maddison to Salah and one of Mitoma/ March/ JWP/ someone cheaper like Douglas Luiz, so I don't need a hit or a wc, don't really want to lose Maddison but I can't sell Diaby in 10 with Luton at home.

Andersen looks like rising in price tonight. Since there is no-one else I want, except perhaps Coufal (I have Areola) and Gabriel (not enough attacking threat) I am seriously considering getting him for Tarkowski tonight (exact money). What could possibly go wrong?!?

    Areola / Turner
    Trippier, Botman, Cash, Udogie, Tarko
Salah, Son, Maddison, Bowen / Nakamba
    Haaland, Alvarez, Morris

That is something to think about. However, it costs one transfer more and I probably need two free ones come gw10. Saka and Watkins would be nice players to have.
