    Any change on this wildcard?

    Areola
    Gabriel, Pau, Coufal
    Salah, Saka, Maddison, Bowen
    Haaland, Watkins, Alvarez

    3.9, Guehi, Taylor, 4.3
    0.0 itb

One potential change is Saka, Maddison > Son, Mitoma + 0.5 but not sure its worth it

Hold on. Aren't City assets supposed to be fixture-proof because they have been the strongest team in the league for years now and are expected to win the so-called derbies? Why are so many panicking and acting like they won't score any goals in the next six games and Haaland will suddenly turn into Balotelli?

I would love to hear a good, backed-up explanation and something else other than the "what I would like to see and hope for" theories, doing it for fun, or being different for the sake of being different.

I think most going without Haaland understand that he will score, and probably even haul. But they are thinking that maybe they can score more points overall by spreading the funds

always hate these strawmans. There's a similar one around moving Son to Saka where anyone doing that move musn't have considered Son will score points.

Yeah I don't get it either. It really wouldn't be a shock if they scored 3 goals in all of these games.

Fully expect Haaland to still do well, it's just if the 14mil can be better spent on 2 good assets that can better Haaland + a lesser option over the next few weeks

I have the top players and players I want, including Haaland, so there is no need for me to get rid. Just wish the non Haaland owners would stop posting their incessant tripe and nonsensical gobbledegook. We all know who I am talking about.

i think it has to do with the fact, Haaland's points over the last 5 weeks are about the same as you'd get with a half decent 4.5 defender

    6. The Mentaculus

Their attacking stats for the last 4 games are absolutely dire (big chances 17th; shots in the box 19th; xG 18th). Unfortunately I haven't been able to watch quite as many full games as I'd like lately but if they replicate the super cautious approach shown at the Emirates then I think its a reasonable opportunity for a short-term hop off, especially given the way their fixtures dovetail with Liverpool's. The other main issue for me is just affordability - having Haaland & Salah with my TV (and not having owned Alvarez at all yet) makes it very difficult to strike a nice balance to the squad.

City have a tough run of fixtures coming up and they haven't been as free scoring this season as you'd expect from City. In fact 5 teams have scored more than City so far in the league. One of whom are Villa who have great fixtures for the next few and a very in form forward that many are trying to shoehorn into their teams.

Haaland obviously hasn't turned into Balotelli and is ticking along with goals, but for 14m I think there's the expectation that he'd be closer to last season's form than what he is currently performing at.

Haaland has returned in 6 from 9 games so far, same as Bowen and Alvarez who are almost half the price. Saka has returned 7 from 8, Salah and Watkins have 8 from 9.

Considering the difficult fixtures ahead which most likely won't result in City scoring bucketloads of goals and the kinder fixture swings of other teams, I think there's an argument to go without Haaland for the short term and to free up the 14m to bring the players that are on better form than Haaland.

I don’t think there is that much difference between not going with Haaland now, and not going with Salah at the beginning of the season.

At the start of the season, the no-Mo managers said there’s no point having both when you’re rarely going to captain him; that you can spread the funds and get a stronger overall squad and better bench.

I think the same reasons apply now; the obvious advantage being that there is no longer the double United mid trap to contend with.

Haven’t seen much talk of Douglas Luiz in these articles ? On penalties , good fixtures and excellent form . I’ve been watching his positioning lately . Plays a little like Gundogan did , arriving late in the box plus not afraid to shoot from range . I’m preferring him to Diaby to be honest .

There has been a decent amount of analysis on twitter and youtube.
Playing well IRL but underlying FPL stats are not good. Score is inflated by pens which wont happen every game.
Neto and Gordon at similar price points, Palmer cheaper and better

4 yellow cards are off putting. Outside of penalties and the odd long range goal (the one last week should've been saved by Areola) I don't think he offers that much and there are plenty of better midfielders to go with

broadly agree there are more attacking optons, 6G/6A last season without pens isn't a terrible return mind

    6. VGD
      • 2 Years
      2 years, 5 months ago

I brought in Douglas Luiz for GW7 because of Rodri's suspension. He rewarded me nicely the past few weeks. Interestingly, he actually has more points than Diaby right now and is cheaper. The yellow cards thing is a risk but as a fifth midfielder his minutes and being on pens are useful. He's more reliable in home/easier games so for the next few weeks isn't bad, but it depends on who you want to fit into midfield since the slots are limited and other players are much more attacking.

      b)
Udogie minutes risk and Watkins and Maddison points will probably cover Salah.

Have I missed the boat with Trippier? Will he still score points with similar regularity or would Trent be a better option for the fixtures going forward?

Liverpool do have better fixtures than Newcastle plus I already have Burn

Yes he will still score points regardless but I would be tempted to go with Trent for the fixtures + differential

I think I'm leaving it for now.
Concentrating on Villa, Liverpool and Arsenal.

I can finally afford him... But I'm skipping. I won't get the points he has already scored and a bet on him underperforming now with poor fixtures makes sense. Going to stick with Gabriel, Cash, Tsimi for a few weeks and spend in attack(for eg I get mitoma instead of palmer if I ignore Trippier)

It would be part of a -4 which involves losing Haaland for Watkins so I'll have plenty of funds to go around. It would be to replace Botman who's not playing and a waste of a squad space at the moment. Current defence is Cash, Botman, Burn, Andersen, Udogie.

The problem with Trent is that Liverpool's defence is shaky and they keep conceeding in first halves. Also, he hasn't managed many attacking returns which make him worth his price tag.

Liverpool's fixtures going forward are much better now. From the 6 games Trent has started, 3 of them were Chelsea, Newcastle and Brighton away. He got a return and a clean sheet against Villa and a clean sheet last week against Everton.

I was considering bringing Trippier instead but fear I've missed his best returns already and now thinking owning Trent will be a good differential that many won't be owning and he's as capable of getting the returns we've seen from Trippier. If it doesn't work out, then I'll probably sell him to get Haaland back in GW16

I'd do Haaland and Diaby to Watkins and Saka. Arteta's post at the top of this page has plenty of arguments for losing Haaland. Plus you get to hold onto Maddison and Alvarez - especially if you've got value built up on them already.

It is a bold move however, and if you're set on keeping Haaland, then the moves you've suggested are fine if you really want to bring in Saka and Watkins.
