Had decided to originally WC in GW 13.
Most of you want me to hold, with this setup..

    Areola ¦ Pickford
    VvD Cash Guehi
    Salah Son Mitoma Diaby
    Haaland Alvarez Edouard
    ¦ White Boly Nakamba

    1.0 ITB

But I don't like the look of GW 13 and beyond. What to do?

it is up to you, not us.

I'd hold this week. or VVD to Tsi and Edouard to Darwin

Done Burn to Tsim, have to decide on Gabriel vs Taylor, maybe after the cup games, early GTG?

    Areola
    (Taylor or Gabriel)/Cash/Tsim
    Salah/Son/Saka/Bowen
    Haaland(c)/Watkins/Alvarez

I have them too. Probably playing Gabriel. Better defence and predicting that Newcastle - Arsenal will be low scoring.

I'm probably going with Taylor, Palace look toothless without their best attackers. Worried that if Gabriel doesn't start Newcastle might be a game that Arteta brings him on in the final minutes if they're defending a lead

I would wait for cup games to see how Newcastle line up. If that's a completely makeshift 11 I would probably play Taylor, but if it's a strong one with almost full strength Newcastle will suffer from fatigue vs Arsenal, and Newcastle without hight octane and full energy is a pretty mediocre team. In the end: Taylor and Burnley will also concede. Palace is always a bit bad when they play good teams not having Eze, but Eduoard will score in this one.just check the stats on where Burnley concede goals from. And expecting Taylors next goal to be around year 2032.

        Cracking OR from them too...

I think the point is that it's not a true template team. Most likely the result of a more even split between the expensive players selected, and then greater differentiation in the fodder to allow for that.

My current TV is 104.3 and I started with Martinelli over Mbeumo (.2 lost) and bought Areola after price rise and I have missed 2-3 other very early saturday(?) price rises, so 105 at least has to be possible.

What % of FPL players do you think take tips/base their strategies using FPL content sites, X feeds, YouTube etc?
Do we (i.e. "non-casuals") even have an edge any more?
Feels like you've got to consume lots of FPL content just to arrive at a level playing field these days,

Going off my mini leagues I’d say an awful lot. In the last 3 seasons it’s gone from 2 or 3 decent players out of 50 to about half the league or more having template teams.

It's only 15 pts from 1 million top 500k and top 2 million is only 21 pts behind top million. I don't remember teams being this stacked ever before. Usually top 10k has been moving target, but it must have been full of Haaland sellers. I got red arrow, but closer

My first 11 looks ok this week with Burn (ARS) first sub.

I've also got Anderson and Lampety on the bench.

I think Lampety may be on the cusp of returning. But reckon it's worth using a transfer to swap out Anderson given he's gonna be out for up to 8 weeks? He's 4.4m and I've got 0.8m in the bank. Or roll the transfer and reassess next gw?

I think this season has come to a point when we all have pretty good teams. Attacking the fixtures looks like the way to go, but taking hits to sell good players for only slightly players on paper us going to hurt, especially for -4. However, eye test showed some teams to be fatigued or leggy. Perhaps it's time to look at those players and start selling them slowly?

Newcastle and West Ham to me looked fatigued. I'm looking at moving Bowen out either this week for a -4, or next week for free - my instinct (that I don't follow enough) is to take the hit.

I think teams with lesser squads playing in Europe are beginning to show.

I agree about Bowen. HoweverI rate Everton defense quite high on their day and this fixture was never two on fixture difficulty rating for me, more like 3+ imo. This especially for Bowen who has imo scored from faster attacks or set pieces. His xGi was still between 0.4 and 0.5 if my memory serves. Previous goal was lucky with 0.1 xG. Managers may react and rotate more in Europe. Making decisions based on one fixture alone is not safe. Downgrading Trippier next week and selling Bowen for Martinelli or Saka is certainly an option. Vs Newcastle not worth it imo and I don't have free tranfers after sellinb Botman to Tsimi. Haalaand + Naka to Saka + Jesus /Darwin is tempting also.

Forest are better defensively than you think, albeit their worse side is that of Bowen, so I'm with you on it, but just wanted to point out that in general Forest isn't the easy one we think. And its after Europe game for West ham.

    Current team with 2ft:
    Areola (Turner)
    Tsimikas, Trippier, Cash (Romero, Botman)
    Saka, Son, Maddison, Diaby (Gordon)
    Alvarez, Watkins, Haaland.

Seriously considering this with exact £:
    Trippier > Guehi
    Saka > Salah
    Maddison > Mitoma

    Yay or Nay?

Yeah, thought of that but 0.1m out, and if it did work I'd effectively only have Romero as a decent bench player. With the Maddison > Mitoma move I'd have Gordon & Romero on the bench and play Mitoma which seems better.

For context - is this who to play, who to bench, who to transfer in etc. etc, - unfortunately more information is needed if you want assistance.

How are you planning to manage your Villa players with the fixtures gradually starting to turn? Is tot../MCI/ARS enough to make you offload? bou/SHU/BUR enough incentive to hang in?

I have a triple up - Digne Diaby Watkins - which I've been pretty happy with. Was considering losing Diaby soon, as I can bench Digne but playing double attack v City & Arsenal doesn't really seem optimal. But I'm not too sure... I could also lose Digne & play 442 with Diaby on the bench for those 2 games

Selling Digne most likely next week. Was planning on losing Diaby this week if he blanked again v Luton, unsure what to do now. Will probably hold until after Bournemouth in GW14 now

Don't mind starting Digne against Fulham but may sell him after that.

I'm watching a replay of the Luton game; just at HT currently but it does like the shape has changed a bit lately. Diaby is popping up on the left flank a lot more than he used to. With Kamara sitting in to cover Cash the FBs aren't really so asymmetrical anymore although Digne did put in a few decent crosses. Watkins still looks the most likely scorer at this point - kind of a big chance that might not show up on stats since at came at awkward height & he overran it

Yeah I saw that chance. If I had Watkins I'd probably hold through the tougher games but he's also one of the players most prone to patchy form so one to keep an eye on I'd say (not that I think his good form is over yet). I may yet hold Digne next week but I'm just expecting 1-2pts per game now so I'm not really that keen. The OG was ridiculously unlucky for someone like him who was on for 9pts at that stage but it's typical of what's happening with him I guess

I'm planning on holding Cash and Diaby until week 14

Makes sense. Only then its just 3 more GWs til paydirt of SHU & BUR (with a tasty Man Utd filling), which kind of makes me think of holding...

Cash may well go to Guehi (and Tsimikas to the bench) than Diaby, right now, but may change next week and Diaby goes first 🙂

Fair enough. I'm not particularly targeting Forest; its just that my most likely move is Diaby - Saka so I might hold that til next week

If you don't habe Darwin he's an easy move from Watkins. cash to whatever you like in the five million, Walker? White? Lots of options. And keeping is not the worst, if you can rotate him for the difficult away games.

Yeah I have Darwin already so Alvarez looks the only other option really, and then I'd be buying him shortly before the BGW. Think that I'm happy to keep Watkins actually, not just due to minimal viable alternatives, but also since the two tricky fixtures are at least at home & I think he scored against Arsenal last year

Anyone else think Luton(A) isn't such a great fixture for targeting CS? They are scoring quite regularly of late it's just defence they are really bad at imo

Luton have scored in al their home games bar Spurs and have not conceded more than two goals in any fixture playing at home.

They have a much smaller pitch than any other PL team and I don't think any opposition team favours playing there.

Failed to score vs Spurs, and Villa goal was a freak own goal. Liverpool have two clean sheets in a row

It depends which kind of defense they play. If they play a team that are weak in defending areas such as set pieces/defending crosses and allow their opponent to have the ball Luton have players and style of football that can score. Like Villa, suspect defense both on conceding crosses etc.

For example: looking at Luton Palace in pretty confident Luton will score, Palace isn't defending wet pieces or crosses that well. Liverpool will have the ball 85 percent and doesn't allow much on set pieces (let one in vs Brighton, but that was very clever done by Brighton, Luton doesn't have players to do that).

Luton will keep teams that doesn't have a well set possession structure and ability, pretty well at home due to what you say about pitch. Teams like Liverpool, Spurs (could have been 3-0 after ten minutes and they were outplayed massively) and City will roll over them, while teams like West Ham, Palace, United, etc probably will struggle more.
They will be worse away then home, but that's not exactly rocket science to suggest I suppose.

No Place are defending set pieces well, but are poor at defending against teams who play from the wings, or use the full length of the pitch.

Luton's pitch is tiny and Selhurst's pitch is quite small.

But it is a game of opinions. Eze and Olise will be back by then as well

    Hi all,

Thoughts on whether or not to move on JWP - he came in GW6 for me and has blanked in all games for me so far. I have 1 FT, was hopinig to roll but it feels like a move to Mitoma this week might be worthwhile?

With Paqueta (apologies if spelling is incorrect) and Alvarez out next week might JWP play further forward?

If he carries on playing the deeper role the move to Mitoma could be good, but I'd want some indication of the projected line up for next weekend before making a decision.

Good point, I wasn't aware Alvarez was out as well. I'll keep an eye on the team news before making any decisions. Thank you!

Slight concerns on Hwang with Neto injured and Mbeumo has a few tougher looking games. I was thinking of Mitoma and then onto Mbeumo later.

Or alternatively go down to Palmer to upgrade Alvarez to Watkins - but not this GW.

      I'd buy Hwang.

If Neto's absence affects his output significantly, you could upgrade him to Mbeumo in gw14 if things don't work out.
