Long-term, do you think Saliba is worth a -4 over Cash?

Would also mean downgrading Archer to a 4.3 (but do have two decent defenders on bench).

Possibly given Cash's form and Villa's bad fixture swing coming in the next few weeks, only problem is that Cash has much bigger upside so one big week from him could easily trump the reliability of Saliba when a hit is in play.

No way. Diaby's next two are decent and Alvarez is a long term hold.

Don’t agree he is a long-term hold. KDB is coming back, meaning he won’t be nailed, and even if he isn’t, his form is not great

        1. FPLEL
          • 11 Years
          2 years, 3 months ago

Yep. Of all the things you can call Alvarez, 'long-term hold' isn't one of them - at least from now onward.

      2. Hotdogs for Tea
        • 10 Years
        2 years, 3 months ago

        Quite right.

Alvarez is certainly a long term hold, especially if you picked him up at 6.5 when you can just start him and get points off him coming off the City bench against tired legs. Maybe he will be a PL starter and benched for Europe?

KdB isn't even back training with City and is a couple of months away so that certainly makes Alvarez classed as a long term hold.

Does KdB in the City team mean that Alvarez loses out. Not so sure about that.

The City team has changed and Alvarez has set up a good on field interface with Haaland, so I can see Pep wanting all three with KdB going deeper or wider out right with other players missing out rather than Alvarez.

    2. Phil's Stamps
      • 15 Years
      2 years, 3 months ago

Yeah, thought I should have added (with caveat of seeing how KDB affects him when he's back) just after I posted. But providing KDB doesn't affect his game time (big IF, but possible), I think you've to got to hold a 6.5-ish starting forward in that City team. I can see no reason to be shipping him before KDBs back, there are just no reliable forwards this season apart from Haaland (Watkins? well his fixtures are about to turn for the worse).

But yeah, I stand corrected, he's a mid-term hold for now, not a long-term one.

It won't be Schar that loses his place. Brilliant defender and key to how Newcastle play.

I don't see Lascelles being immediately dropped when Botman returns though. Howe loves a settled defence and very rarely makes unenforced changes.

What is the latest opinion on Saka without Odegaard & Jesus and Son without Maddison?

Arsenal players should be back soon, but Maddison is expected after mid Jan 24.

Is it probably time to sell Son?

Spurs look a lot worse creatively without Maddison, so definitely a case there.

I don't think it's a bad idea considering the fixtures and the talk that there might not be the usual DGWs of previous seasons. But I'd want to to upgrade Turner to someone playing, even if it's a cheapie like Pickford, just to give a bit more excitement if nothing else.

It’s not amazing and Turner a dud now. If you want to just get rid of the abB and hope for ~15points, move turner out to someone likely to get a CS and cross your fingers for some attacking returns.

Do you see this fine thing? Do you admire the humanity of it? Because the human beings, my son, they believe everything is alive. Not only man and animals. But also water, earth, stone. And also the things from them... like that hair. The man from whom this hair came, he's bald on the other side, because I now own his scalp! That is the way things are. But the white man, they believe EVERYTHING is dead. Stone, earth, animals. And people! Even their own people! If things keep trying to live, white man will rub them out. That is the difference.

Saka. He’s not doing much and I think that’s a direct impact of Odegaard not playing. Still feels Son can get anything at any time. Kulu looking better and Brennan playing well too.

I'm planning on sacrificing Son to get Haaland back. Saka has better fixtures and does tick along nicely with points. Not as explosive as Son admittedly, but I need that extra 1m or so to be able to afford Haaland.

Will probably look to get Son back later after the Asian Cup by which time Maddison should also be back to full fitness

Haha it is a well thought plan! Whether it actually pays off is another thing altogether.

I think having Haaland back for when City plays Spurs and their makeshift defence is essential. I am reluctant to lose Son as I've built up a lot of value in him and he does have a good scoring record against City. Just don't like the Spurs fixtures for the next few and without Romero, VdV and Maddison, Spurs don't look comfortable as a team. Son looked a forlorn figure against Wolves and think there may be a few more games like that to come.

I yearn for the international breaks of yore i.e. there weren't any. Players met up in dribs and drabs after their weekend games, played on the Wednesday night after a couple of training sessions beforehand and then made their own way home right after the match if they lived anywhere at all local. That way, fantasy football managers like myself wouldn't have to stew in their own pish for a fortnight, beating themselves up over their Tsimi > Livra transfer or their failed No Haaland experiment without being able to do anything confidently about it whatsoever because of potential injuries to players on their Watchlist during their protracted jaunts abroad. So fecking frustrating.

Botman running. Isn't that usually around 3-4 weeks (or less) before fit to play?

      I would rather sell Cash.

      - Price drop soon.
      - Two away games (Villa only strong at home)
      - Rotation risk increased
      - (...)

I'd like to sell Areola, but to whom? Back to Onana? Sanchez would block either Nkunku or RJ for Palmer owners. Ederson?

A train leaves a station and travel 50 miles per hour. 15 minutes later a second train leaves the same station and travels in the same direction and parallel tracks at 60 miles per hour. How long will it be before the second train overtake the first?

This will end up in crash. There are not so long parallel tracks without traffic in opposite direction.

Besides that, this is a trick question because we don't know how fast these trains would accelerate.

All things being equal just after 75 mins after the train starting at 60mph starts assuming it gets to that speed immediately as does the others.e. Give or take the acceleration time.

Both will concede and both could get attacking returns but won't. As Son owner I might start Cash to be on the safer side 😉

I probably should ask about tea here, but since I'm a coffee drinker, which type of coffee do you prefer? I find Spanish "cafe con leche" with toast degree 4 to be my favourite.

I like a massive mug of milky Yorkshire.

I was going to say maccha late for coffee, but of course, actually that is tea too.

Not for the purist coffee fan, but love a boiling hot maxim. Had to cut down when I realised it was the reason I had a headache all the time.

Just a simple strong black coffee, twice a day. And a cup of Yorkshire tea

Large cappuccino from Greggs on my way to work does the trick for me. Any other coffee during the day is any instant decaf as I've been advised to limit caffeine.

For tea, if I had time, my choice would be a teapot with a bag each of Yorkshire tea and Earl Grey.

That's the absolutely best coffee and helps to be awake to see price changes. But it has one downside. Risk of making early transfers may increase significantly.

A good splash of Bailey's in a coffee over Christmas helps take the edge of dealing with extended family!

Early doors but feel like I should save?
I could play Archer at home v Bmouth, or if I wanted him as 1st sub then I can take Mads out for Bowen and play him?

      Areola (Turner)
Schar / Guehi / Saliba (Tsimi / Baldock)
Diaby / Salah / Son / Mitoma (Mads*)
      Archer / Watkins / Haaland

Feel like having 2 FTs for next week is better than going for Bowen this GW?

1ft and 0.2m ITB, bit early I know, but unless something happens GTG:

      Areola (Turner)
      Gabriel-Cash-Udogie (Taylor-Lascelles)
      Salah-Son-Saka-Diaby-Bowen
      Haaland-Alvarez (Archer)

      Maybe look to ship Udogie?

Nothing pressing but obviously don't want to burn one. Monitor over the next week but i'd focus on who you need coming up, Mbeumo v Luton, Alvarez could be someone else? Diaby eventually could go, but nothing urgent!
