I decided against this in the end - was tempted and it could pay off but I have value tied up in Bowen plus he has good fixtures ahead even if he misses this week and Mbuemo blanks in 18

Morning all, finally took the hit to bring Haaland back. Frankly I think the experiment didn’t really pay off; it only worked as it forced me to captain Salah and get his hauls in. Was poised to get him back before the United game but ‘stayed the course’ and that’s definitely cost some points.

Good luck with the next 3 GW’s - there will be benching’s & cameo’s but it’s all part of the Christmas ‘joy’

Is it worth taking a hit to sell cash? If I knew he'd start I'd probably keep but after last GW maybe it's time to get rid. Can afford Saliba but think maybe Gabriel is better value?

    1. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 8 Years

i think that depends on a lot of things. Firstly, who can you play instead? Do you want him for gw18? And will that defender you bring in makes you more comfortable in the next weeks?

I´ve had similar choice, with both Watkins and Bowens doubts i decided taking a hit for Cash was the best, with Maguire to come in if both Watkins and Bowen is out.
I bought Pinnock, mostly because i wanted a good short term pick, not ideal for gw18, but even with the two fixtures against Brighton and Villa i see myself happy enough if i had to play him in those.

My point is this; look at your team, see how it develops during the next weeks and make your move from that.

My view on Cash is that he´s first choice but hes not nailed to start (or finish above 60 minutes), but I could be wrong about that.
and the last thing regardless: the four games for villa before the blank they won´t keep clean sheets.Ithink they get points and scores, but even Bou is capable of scoring, i would be surprised if they didnt

    4. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 8 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

      My guess is mbeumo.
But he costs 1 million more or so, so that must be taken into it.
Newcastle are on thin ice squad wise, so even with good fixtures they will very likely be less effective when fatigue comes into play.

The main problem being that in both midweek they coud have had a rest, they play Milan in which a win could send them to CL knock out stages and in the week before christmas they play Chelsea in the cup.

They might play with teenagers in that cup game, but realistically Howe will try to go for that too,

      More detailed:
Manchester United home; fatigue wont be that much of a factor, since both teams played very tough games away in CL. Expect this to be tight, with Newcastle on top.

Everton: Here will the fatigue factor play in a bit more, and away, which Newcastle are generally weaker, and Everton is at team with similar strenghts, physicality, so i think this wil be tougher for Newcastle than we normally would think.
Spurs; Again away and vs a team that have no Europe. But Spurs are themselves a bit injury hampered, but do have a little bit more depth squadwise. And agein, away, and i think yhis is the second hardest game for Newcastle before christmas. I expect them to concede and lose.
Fulham: this looks like a very good fixture, and i think being home and fulham not good attacking wise, i think even with fatigue into play, Newcastle will win. But beware of Milan tie just days before. Gordons best game alongside United at home.
Luton; away and against a team with smal squad and with similar traits in playing style, a ugly game, away, but i think at least defensively this is a good game.
Nottingham; on paper decent home game but Forest are decent defensively away from home and have a bigger squad depth atm, so this is diffficult to predict, but again, Chelsea in the cup midweek, Luton and then Forest, the faatigue will crop up.
LIverpool; Sell all your Newcastle assets incuding Trippier. Its away at Anfield, its the last game in a extremely tight schedule and against a team that have a lot bigger squad, so unless Liverpool get a ton of injuries this could be ugly.

      Sorry for long thread

Guess it's just people wisening up to advanced stats. He's got a lot of points for sure, but most of those are from penalties and long-range bangers, which the advanced stats would deem to be unsustainable across a whole season.

Not endorsing/condemning D. Luiz's performances, just speculating on why the uptake is low relative to his points tally

Chilwell still has a higher season expected goal involvement stat than TAA despite not having played any minutes in the last 9 games.

Surprised me, that! An oversimplification for sure, but guess TAA's essentially a deep midfielder these days. Probably better for the team, but it greatly diminishes his FPL potential.
