Another week when it's obvious to see there are probably more dead than active teams, Haaland most capped!

It's a gambling game without the gambling highs nor the paywall to enter

It loses its grip on people when their teams aren't doing well enough, because there's little incentive to continue unless you're addicted

So as it gets more popular, there'll keep being a high population of dead teams as people get bored or disillusioned

I dumped my Eliterserien team after a horrible start for the first two GWs or so, even though I was active in the two previous seasons. I'm not attached enough to that game to claw my way back up the ranks with in-depth research and watching matches for each pick, so it didn't feel worth the hassle... Especially with a very low chance of rewards. I'm gonna guess this applies to many FPL managers, especially those in their first few seasons before an addiction kicks in or their role as an FPL manager of this particular team with a particular rank history gets bedded in with the person's identity (long story of how this happens, but it's a factor)

      It's mad

Maybe people have given up ...

... I read somewhere 65% active and 35% ghost teams.

Or perhaps set and forget is a more popular play.

Yes lots in m ML, although thye are active but seemingly just slipped up this week.

Another reason why I took my first hit for Haaland>Solanke, as all those players are relying on their vc and first sub this next two weeks. Could be a 0.1 profit on Solanke and Haaland dropping twice maybe three times...

Not quite right. many will leave the cap on him as they are not sure if he plays. So dead team theory out of the window.

I run a team and don't make any transfers except on WC, just for fun.

It is at 1.2 OR at the moment (only 8 or 9 starters for the last 3 weeks) and generally has finished at 800k for the last 2 years.

Dead teams do quite well and what I have learned is without even thinking much you can get under 1 million OR without making a single regular transfer.

It really is a game of chance.

Trippier has some tough immediate fixtures but £1.5 less (I got him £6.5m). I think both could be a valid option is Salah and Son both out for a while with internationals so you'll have the funds for it. Although that does make it harder to get those guys back

Should to able get Trent and Trippier using the MITB by not having Salah & Son who are off on international duty for a month after that GW.

Got disillusioned with the game a few GWs ago and brought in Udogie(for a hit no less) without realising he was on 4 yellows. Do I swap him out for Porro for a hit again this GW or start one of Tsimikas/Gabriel?

I'd play Tsimi or Gabriel. Hit for a defender will rarely pay off. Assuming those guys get 2 points, Porro would need 6 just to break even

Been one of those seasons where some serious players are deep in the mud while many casuals are inside the Top 100k. Thinking of letting my team ride it out on autopilot this season before coming back fresh next season.

Yeah I smashed my mini league last season and ended on 37K. Swings and round-abouts. Things went my way more often then not last season, Son Hatrick off the bench as captain for instance. So suppose it evens out. Any wild comebacks from anyone when they're like 100 points behind at this stage?

I came from around 130pts at this stage to win on the very last day thanks to Kane captain (taking Haaland out for a hit). No point losing hope, not even halfway yet.

    2. :
      • 10 Years

There’s a lot of this going on nowadays unfortunately. A guy in my work’s mini league basically just made up the numbers for years and years but now he’s a player to keep an eye on. He won’t admit it but he has definitely latched on to the fact that he can copy someone else’s team and take the credit for it. When you ask him about some of his left field but ultimately shrewd transfers he always says that he “just had a feeling” about it.

      1. Toon lurk
        • 8 Years
        2 years, 1 month ago

What’s the problem? At this stage in the season I doubt he’s copying someone else move for move, so he’s surely just taking advice like we all do from here. Even if they are copying someone move for move, why can’t you beat the person they’re copying?

Fair enough. He did against Newcastle if I’m not mistaken. I think most attack minded managers would prefer a fluid front 3 so he could still change his position during the game.

Everton have become an improved team so you might as well be right on that & Spurs do have the tendency to struggle. Watkins has a low ceiling imo but against SHU, who knows.

I’m leaning toward Son or Salah atm.

Looks ruled out for 18 to me

Harry [Maguire], he will not be available for the coming games," explained the boss at his press conference. "But we don't think it is for the long term.

So, who's ready for their players to blank today, despite having good fixtures?

Has anyone got 5 or 6 players in the Liverpool v Arsenal game next week?

Looks like serious overexposure to me. What's everyone doing? Riding it out?

Only got 3 - Salah, Saka and Saliba and I'll probably be benching Saliba

Lots of Tsimikas and double Arsenal defence and Nunez owners out there.

I'm stuck with 5 myself... Salah, Saka, Nunez, Gabriel and Tsimikas.

If you have to play them all it's not the end of the World - probably all will do OK - even 2 points from a player is a win for me at the moment

Why are FPL content creators like Andy and Fecal and General so annoying and so massively SMUG on Twitter? Isn't being millionaire YouTubers enough for them?

Why can't they be a class act like Zoph who never flexs about his points?

Nakamba for me. Gives you another player to rotate if needed.

Can someone explain what is “stress on the bone and not a fracture” and if “he’s feeling no pain” why Haaland doesn’t just suck it up and play? Probably get laughed off the team in the old days! (I don’t mean to be controversial but he’s no Brett Favre or Cal Ripken that’s for sure)

I can't claim to be a doctor, but imagine the stress is something that could amount to something more serious if he doesn't rest it. Imagine they want to air on the side of caution

That being said. Hope he miraculously starts and hauls.

I guess they are being vague but can you x-ray and see “stress on the bone” and where does he point to say check here if he doesn’t feel any pain? Maybe it’s a new contract power play…

Well stress needn't always cause a direct fracture. Overworking can cause deformity if you leave it long enough, and I think I'd trust City's doctors on the matter over Haaland's pain tolerance.

Disclaimer: Not a Doctor - avid Googler though...

"There are three progressive stages of bone stress injuries:

      1. Bone strain/stress response: There are signs of bone stress on medical imaging but an athlete is not yet experiencing symptoms.

      2. Stress reaction: Bone stress injury is severe enough to cause localized pain on the bone, which aggravates with sporting activities. Athletes will often also experience tenderness to the touch.

      3. Stress fracture: The final stage of the bone stress continuum when a fracture or break in the bone develops, which can be seen on medical imaging. Typically pain is very pronounced in a clear localized area, and often bearing weight on the limb is enough to provoke pain."

      Source: https://www.physio-pedia.com/Bone_Stress_Injuries

Obviously I don't know the exact condition but could well be experiencing a mixture of points (1) & (2), with the rest period he has had to reduce point (3) happening.
