    Sell, Areola or Sanchez

    Buy, Petrovic or Martinez

You could sell Areola and buy petrovic (presuming he’s the Chelsea back up).

Or Sell Sanchez (presuming he’s the most expensive). and buy Martinez

Hmm, I would probably go the cheaper route.

    Arsenal 2 - 1 Brighton
    Brentford 2 - 2 Villa
    West ham 1 - 1 Wolves
    Liverpool 3 - 1 Man utd

Brentford Villa should be an interesting one.

Don’t know what I want the outcome to be tbh. Rival has Solanke (C) with Salah VC (OR 13k), whilst I chose Salah (C) with Solanke in the squad (OR 14k)

Think I’d take Salah going mental and Bournemouth Luton points staying put.

Quickest thing is to scan the last 3 pages of comments. Simple answer is no-one knows. Seems to be considered ‘unfinished’ at the moment so decision for PL whether to finish or replay.

      Points issue will follow this.

Obviously thoughts primarily with Tom Lockyer first and foremost

Looking ahead at GW 21, I’ve just noticed I’d lose 0.9m in value selling Son and Salah. I’m not a value obsessive but that’s quite a bit and enough to require a downgrade elsewhere if you want them back in 24ish. Starting to wonder if it’s worth moving them. I imagine others are in the same boat?

I took value earlier on in season, I just lose .3 if i sell that pair.

Cheapest salah has been is 12.5 & Son 9 so it's 0.7 you'll lose not 0.9 as things stand

It's still a lot but do expect them to drop in price (haaland has).
Don't expect Salah to drop to 12.8 & Son to 9.3 for son but few drops should be OK to buy back
If have strong enough can keep one maybe Salah

Most will be on 0.3m loss each, so in that case would you prefer 0.3m or someone playing for up to 4 games?

You might not be able to get both back if Haaland is holding up well as an option in Feb. or KDB is sparkling once again.

Yeah, thinking I’ll keep Son. He’s cheaper than Mo, has better fixtures immediately before and after, and I just can’t see the value in transferring them both in and out - the transfer gymnastics required to make the most of all that cash and then find a way to get them back a few weeks later seems it would be counter-productive

Is this too cunning a plan? Get the back up goalie for Man Utd (which I think is Altay) as second goalie for Man Utd's nice run of fixtures when Onana is likely to be at AFCON?

    Too weaselly?

    1. Zeeshz

Nice idea, but make sure Onana's actually travelling before making that call.

(Of course, Onana's issues with the national team appear to have been resolved, but even then I wouldn't rule out a mysterious shoulder/back injury just before the tourney begins)

Frankly I'm not expecting many/any defences to keep clean sheets this season - a CS is always a pleasant surprise, which is why my defenders are cheap but attacking. But as a second goalie that would replace Turner he seemed like a consideration.

my 5 cents on this..wouldn't the logic be if the game is replayed and points remain that then its basically like a 39th fixture for people who had a player in that match which would be an unfair advantage. but if the game is just played from the point it stopped then everything is as it was?

I don't think the Premier League will use fantasy points as a basis for replaying the game and ensuing the sporting integrity of the competition.

Unfair schmunfair. We all rotate our squads to get way more than 38 games per position per year.

Unfair would be erasing valid points. If it was clean sheet points, I could sympathize. But goals are irreversible.

    Dubravka
    Porro, Trippier, Tsimikas
    Salah, Saka, Gordon, Palmer, Bowen
    Darwin, Solanke

(Areola, Andersen, Archer, Udogie) 1FT, £9.6m

    Thinking:
    GW18: Archer, Andersen > Watkins, Pau (-4)
    GW19: hold
GW20: Salah, Darwin > Richy, Haaland

Should scrape enough for Bowen > Salah, whenever he's back.

Plans could change, if a DGW is announced though. So, unsure on the hit. Think it would pay for itself anyway

    Lascelles,Gabriel,Udogie, [Anderson,Branthwaite]

    FT:2, BANK:0.9m

    B. Anderson, Udogie -> Porro, Tsimikas/Pau
    C. Areola, Udogie-> Neto, Pau

Re: BOU v LUT - I believe FPL will put out a statement as a precursor to any PL decision. Something like 'The points leading up to the 1-1 abandonment remain until either: -

    a. The PL decide no replay & 1-1 is the final result on record - therefore accrued points set in stone.
    b. A replay will be held for this fixture date to be arranged - all points from 1-1 abandonment null & void. You have a new option for that rearranged game (in a DGW)
    c. Continuation from Xmin of abandonment to final whistle - points continue where left off.

In the event of a replay, I just can not see a scenario where the points from the abandoned game are kept. It just doesn't make any sense. But I've been wrong in the past, so let's wait and see.

Any other scenarios (d, e, f), please feel free to add in comments below, remember to hit 'like' or rate 5* if listening etc etc..... haha

Several of those are utterly impossible.

So if I sell Solanke, and the game continues in 3 weeks, where do his points go? Do they count in my cup fixture?

Total non-starter. The points will be left alone or wiped by close of play today. Binary choice.

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I don't rate c. as an option myself but added it because it's been commented on a lot (for some reason). To answer your question, I think you're getting side tracked. If you sell Solanke then that's your choice like normal, it's the next GW and move on. But the points can still be added if the game is played to a conclusion later, you'll just get an increase in retrospect. If you sell him and the game is abandoned to be rearranged, then FPL won't get too hung up on that, that's too niche for them to worry about. On the cup points, they'll just have to decide before GW18 and then worry about the main game decision if different. I do get your point on the cup viewpoint though. But people have short memories on here and shouldn't forget the decision made during the first Covid abandonments. The community was in uproar but FPL can't win either way.

i don't see why they don't just restart the game from the 60th minute this week ? in Spain almost the exact same scenario happened just last week when a fan at the Grenada Vs Athletic Bilbao game died, the game was abandoned at 1-0 but then restarted the next day from the 17th minute where it eventually finished 1-1

I can't see it being restarted from a PL point of view. Is it behind closed doors to save on the admin nightmare, just for 30mins? If closed doors, BOU lose home advantage. Do you wait for the other players to recover first, if so how long?
I honestly think it will be 1-1 result OR rearranged game later. Points will stand OR wiped for auto-subs.
I'm certain FPL will be praying for the 1-1 to stand and everyone can move on. But with the money involved these days, do not be surprised if the game is replayed later. The FPL has a nightmare decision where they can't win whatever they decide.
Finally, and I'm leaving this subject here now, I think every person on here is in agreement Tom Lockyer was conversing with the medical team and is stable. FPL is an important game for us but in the end, guys n gals, it's just a game. We'll play it again next year, year after....

fair enough it suits my team anyway if the game is voided since i only have Senesi from that game, it just seems bizarre to me that that the PL don't have some sort of contingency written in the rules for such scenarios

    5. brentmeister
      • 14 Years

I would imagine the two teams involved will have a major say in the replay scenario conversation. From Lutons pov they would likely prefer to play only the remaining 30 mins and try hang on for a point, rather than another whole 90 mins in an away fixture where the opposition are favourites to win..?

      1. ᶠᶦˡᵗʰʸLucre $$$
        • 10 Years

I imagine both will have input if there is a debate (which I don't think there will be, seems a very straightforward whole match replay to me, and I don't see this debate on any football platform other than FPL ones), but I would think it would be unlikely both teams would agree as any scenario is likely to favour one team and not the other.

this is why fpl cant be taken seriously as a competition. a suspended game is very predictable, but not having a set of rules in place before it happens to deal with whatever the pl does is a joke. replay it within a few days, have a rule. replay it later i the season, have a rule. accept the tie and dont replay it, have a rule, etc.

theyre making up rules mid season (as I know theyve done before), but thats why you cant take it seriously. its designed for the casual fan and run by morons. still fun, but it cant be taken seriously when they literally make it up as they go along

Botman won't start next GW, he'll be on the bench. I think Liv will start LB, Burn & Lac CB with Trips RB, but you're correct in your thought process. Probably just a GW ahead. Botman to Burn, Burn to Liv, to give Liv a rest and then Howe will decide on when/where to play

Yeah, similar situation. Don't like not having Arsenal assets, esp when an otherwise enjoyable game like Arsenal - Brighton is on.

Miserable GW and a half for me. I was on 36k OR after GW15, then randomly (unthinkingly) VC'd Watkins over Salah for Haaland's unexpected absence, and this week didn't realise there was a Friday game, and have the armband on Saka. Currently sitting 226k OR! Disaster.

Having an extension put on my home, which has dominated the last two weeks, and I've ended up just taking my eye off the FPL ball.

That's true. Could work out for me. My plan was Salah, but hey ho, only got myself to blame if it all goes wrong.

It was almost 12 at night I'd been out celebrating my fpl score of 63 with 6 still to play. I was leaving a club and I just became incredibly still, it was like time stopped. I looked up at night sky, the wonderful stars in sight. Trees blowing gently in the night wind. I was stood up against an old church just taking in the 5 senses, it was incredible. A seemingly homeless gentleman came stumbling by, he didn't notice me as I was so still. He stopped and relieved himself on my leg, it was warm, I just watched on silently until he had finished, he they then lay down on a park bench and drifted off to sleep. I felt no anger towards this gentleman, I could only feel love. I put £20 inside his pocket and zipped his coat up to keep him warm, wished him a good night and I left for home.

Morale of the story is we have to forgive each other and show compassion to all and wearing some kind of waterproof trousers on evenings out can be beneficial.

Feel like I’ve heard this story since GW5 but it’s wonderful to hear it again every week. Very descriptive, strong command of language, no mention of a bad OR, what’s not to like?

      Who had the better evening?

      A) Modest Bob,
      B) Homeless gentleman.

Personally going with B. The weather was good, so being homeless that night wasn't that bad. Then he got 20£ to p**s on someone.

        Both did.

They were united in a harmony and the stillness of the moment.

One blissfully simply being, the other asleep and unconscious to the cruelties of the world he would awake to face yet again.

Twice this year I am getting fooled by injuries and sell players who score points , Watkins to Darwin (gw 14 for free) and now Gordon to son ( for a hit). Wish I had a crystal ball ...

Yep definitely. I think I will need to improve my bench as well but it's not the way I like to play the game. I'll have to adapt I suppose..cheers 🙂

Yeah me neither: I like having a crappy bench. But the flags can lead to bad transfers (I did Watkins to Darwin for a hit). Having good subs will help avoid these mistakes.

Interesting to see how folks are calling injuries based on all the info we have. In the 2 cases AH gave, I kept both on the basis they would only miss 1GW max and didn't think it was worth the transfer out

Still too long to the football. Don't know why they can't spread out the kick offs and televise more really. Hopefully there will be extra slots in the new deal, think there is an extra one.

Many people complained about that during Covid times, saying the games are like drip feed

But as you say, they should spread them round. Every game should be on TV really

Feels like the Bournemouth game will be replayed so they can all make money from it. The clubs owners get to cash in and the fans get screwed over.

The TV channels will get the fans on board by saying it's the humane thing to do whilst rubbing their hands with the extra cash.

The common sense approach is to finish the game behind closed doors just like the covid era. They have the covid blueprint so no excuses.

Will money over common sense prevail, we shall find out.

I'm not sure a fixture like this warrants a replay, at least as far as a money-oriented solution is concerned.

Roughly two thirds of the game had been played, therefore if both sides accept the draw, perhaps the PL will accept that under the circumstances.

Abandoned games in the PL/EFL have always been completely replayed. Not sure why this long standing precedent won’t continue just because I brought Solanke in for a hit.

all you have to do is seperate fantasy from reality
fantasy, the game has been played, fantasy points will stand.
reality, premier league game abandoned and replayed and will have nothing to do with fantasy football whenever it happens, every other scenario is ludicrous
