Do you think Tsimikas and Nunez to Saliba and Solanke is worth a 4 point hit? The rest of my team is:

    Areola Dubravka
    Tsimikas Cash Lascelles Porro Kabore
    Salah Gordon Son Saka Bowen
    Cunha Watkins Nunez

Yes I would probably do that. I swapped Darwin for Solanke last week as part of a hit (the other half was a disaster but less said) and it feels so good. I don’t think Darwin is very good, or at least not as a striker (maybe an assist or two)

          • 11 Years

Why was nobody considering him before Haalands injury? The answer is they couldnt afford him and because Trippier was better value if you wanted to go expensive defence. I think this will fizzle out after Haaland is back and Afcon and Asia cup are done and people have to choose again. Not enough cleans going around to justify 8m plus on a defensive pick.

            • 7 Years

AFCON and Asian cup is potentially 21-24 and Liverpool are likely to blank in 26 (make the EFL cup final) which could delay Salah back into folks teams after BGW26.

Players in AFCON and Asian Cup could be potentially away up to GW24*

I think we need to treat Trent as an attacker and he is outscoring a lot of them. Highest scoring player in FPL in the last 6GWs

    Early transfer thoughts:

Save FT to make the Haaland move easier.

Not ruled out Livramento to Trent but not sure who I would bench, maybe Porro. Also would be a hit in 20 to get haaland if available.

    1FT 7.6ITB
    Dubravka
    Porro Saliba Gabriel
    Salah Saka Palmer Gordon Son
    Solanke Watkins
    (Areola Archer Livramento Taylor)

Get Trent for Livramento, bench Saliba and a -4 will be fine for Haaland (c) 20.

I have a very similar team structure situation as you which means I have to decide between playing an udogie and porro double up in defence this week or getting Trent in and taking a hit for Haaland next week.

Given TAA’s fixtures after this week I’m going to save

      1. Tonyawesome69
        • 7 Years

I don't mind Trent fixtures. These are games which will have space behind the defence for him to ping balls. I guess if Salah is away from 21 who is he providing that service to. Attacking returns are there, i think we would be having a different conversation if he scored that chance that hit the bar yesterday.

Dont think I have ever been as frustrated with lack of bench luck as I have this season so far. It really grates when you try and ensure to have a solid squad full of likely starters whilst managers with suboptimal squads seem to keep fluking points off the bench.

Whenever I do have subs auto sub in, its a guaranteed 1 or 2pts but when they do actual score well they never come in and the points stay on the bench.

So close to getting Taylor's haul a few weeks ago as both Cash and Palmer from my 11 didnt start. Only needed one of them not to play no minutes but of course they both come on in last 15 mins for 1 pointers.

My bench again this week full of points - Gabriel, Archer and Taylor but unless Palmer plays no mins today which is highly unlikely, again those points will stay benched and completely wasted.

Ain’t it, hate the way bench is utilised in the game.

I would like to see a rule change that if any of the players on the bench outscore any of the first 11, they get auto subbed in and replace them. It would be an interesting dynamic

I was with you until I saw the bit about Taylor and Archer on the bench. I was expecting to hear about one of one of those benching headaches funds spread everywhere scenarios. Just boils down to luck doesn't it? I'd forget about their points entirely if I were you, focus on the players you picked and did you get the selection wrong or were the points on the bench unforseeable? Probably the latter this week.

    4. Shultan

I've had the worst luck with the bench this season. When i've needed it got mainly 1 point maximum 2. One week I got 0 points from both players off the bench!

& other weeks I have points sitting on bench. I pick a good squad but it's pure luck if you get bench points or not.

    5. Zeeshz
      • 2 Years

If it helps, my only two auto-subs this season before GW16 were Estupinan's -2 in GW7 and Udogie's -4 in GW11.

20+ since. Trust me, fortunes do turn around pretty quickly in this game.

And remember, if you have benched a player who you simply wouldn't have played no matter what given the information available before the deadline, don't hold any sense of regret if they haul. It's just variance, and chasing variance in this game is futile over the long run. At the end of the day, we are picking a very, very small sample of players from the available pool. There's more chance of things going wrong than right on any given week. So, don't beat yourself up too much over decisions not working out. Cheers and GL!

I could see Livramento start in that game at LB. Right footed makes it easier to defend against Salah going on his left foot

Is it necessary to take hits to get a player returning from injury?

Good to go and roll the transfer this week? I think with the quick turnaround and the fact Burn's only recently come back from injury, Livramento could start.vs Forest?

    Dubravka
    Trent, Gabriel, Livramento
    Salah, Son, Saka, Bowen, Palmer
    Watkins, Solanke

    Areola, Saliba, Archer, Guehi

    A) Tsinikas to Trent, and bench one of Gabriel, Porto and Trippier. -4 to get Haaland for GW 20 (sellng Salah/Archer)

    B) Save FT, no Trent, Haaland for free for GW 20

Gabriel has been an utter torment for so many hasnt he. We had the GW1 debacle and the team leak. I have played him in so many plumb home fixtures only for him to mostly blank or get 6 only. But there he is this week hauling in an unlikely fixture when people have benched him.

It never ceases to amaze me that in so many ways and on so many occasions in FPL, events just seem to align this way and how often you fall between the gaps.

I appear to have landed lucky and have 2 FT's at my disposal after Areola, Baldock and Schar have all pulled through and Haaland will likely not be involved this week. I'm not sure the planned Areola>Dubravka move is needed right now.

After an epic week (249k GW rank so far) I need to keep this going. I'm thinking Bruno>Salah(c) and roll the 2nd FT as an insurance policy against Salah hauling which has cost me real damage this season. Then Salah out in due course for Richy to faciliate Haaland. This means I should get away with benching Son...

    Areola
    Porro Schar Gabriel
    Son Saka Ode BRUNO Palmer
    Watkins Solanke

    Turner Alvarez Branthwaite Baldock

Have you considered Trent (C) over the Salah hokey cokey using 2FTs?

It was mentioned and I have thought about it but I need to move Bruno on before he drops so Salah in then on to Richarlison makes more sense now. Might even keep for NEW as we don't know if Haaland will play before the break..

I would be inclined to take a hit to transfer out an injured player and a FWD not nailed to start
