Gameweek 20 begins today and Betway have joined in with a Super Boost offer.

All teams are taking part in this round of fixtures, spread over four days that cover both 2023 and 2024. Arguably the most-anticipated clash takes place at Anfield on New Year’s Day, where Liverpool host Newcastle United.

WHAT IS THE GAMEWEEK 20 SUPER BOOST?

If you’re new to the Super Boost, it’s effectively enhanced odds on cherry-picked match events.

A trio of match events, to be exact, so you’ll need all three to come in.

On Saturday, Betway are offering 1/1 odds for this treble rather than the original 4/11:

  • Julian Alvarez (1+ Shots on Target)
  • Phil Foden (1+ Shots on Target)
  • Ollie Watkins (1+ Shots on Target)

THE LOGIC

These three chosen names make a lot of sense, given the situation. Manchester City and Aston Villa are the two teams with the most goals so far, about to play at home against those that have conceded the highest number of goals and shots on target – newly-promoted duo Sheffield United and Burnley.

On Wednesday, Julian Alvarez and Phil Foden both netted for the champions at Everton. The Argentinian racked up four attempts on target, taking advantage of his centre-forward role whilst Erling Haaland is out. With this arrangement set to continue versus the Blades, Alvarez is primed for further success.

Playmaker Foden contributed his own seven shots at Goodison Park, also putting 13 on target during his last nine outings.

As for Ollie Watkins, he may only have one goal in five matches but the midweek defeat at Manchester United was the first time he’d not registered a shot on target since Gameweek 4.

I know the deadline has past but I'm intrigued to hear your thoughts on my wildcard and didn't want to be influenced by your thoughts prior to the deadline:

    Areola
    TAA, porro, Gabriel,
    Foden(c), saka, bowen, richarlison
    Alvarez, solanke, nkunku

    Neto, garnacho, estupinan, gusto

    9.3mil ITB!

Really like it. Strong bench but at prices where you’re happy to bench them. Not sold on Nkunku myself but always nice to have a differential on wildcard

Cheers. Yeah that's exactly my thinking; no very good reason to get nkunku other than differential against a poor defence - he is destined to turn into haaland in a week or so with all that spare cash, but I could swap out one of the other strikers if nkunku turns out to be a gem

This was the last week the wildcard (first onr) could be used.

I'd saved it and planned to bring in haaland and debruyne and lose salah and son in one swoop. But then held off on Ealing and Kevin due to injuries and saved the money so it's easy to get one/both in soon

Funnily enough, I have gone all season since about gw5 without saka and hasn't been too much of a problem. Decided to bring him in as his underlying figures are still good, despite recent poor returns.

        Nkunku ks a big gamble.

First mover disadvantage. Chelsea other than Palmer is an avoid for me. Like your team generally though other than Foden and Nkunku. Sara will come good again and Estu is back to party. Garnacho looks insane value.

I was ranked 1.4 m gw9 and I am ranked 1.4m now, how boring... I think I got 2 wee green arrows in a row with score in 40s. It has been a very disappointing month for me team. I am still motivated and would like to finish with a 6 digit rank but it s hard going.

I think taking a hit to get Alvarez and Foden in today was important. Don't forget that this is the best football team on the planet Earth playing a really poor lot who are more than capable of conceding barrowloads when the mood takes them and IF the fantasy stars align this afternoon, there's a very reasonable chance one of those two could megahaul.

One of my problems with increasing engagement with FPL is the over-emphasis on individual GWs. Every GW feels like a season in itself online.

Long-term management is key (and the most enjoyable aspect of the game for me). Saving a FT is never a negative, esp with the upcoming break. Good luck and play it your way!

Newcastle will turn up at Anfield and get something.

Also said United would beat Villa last week & that Spurs would drop points at Brighton (did say draw though) this league is clearly one where anyone can beat anyone if they decide to turn up, Newcastle still have a good team that can hurt Liverpool.

Could be a bucketful of points v New. I’m still languishing around the 3m mark so decided to take a chance on Foden.

Same. Reassess end of Jan. Might move to KdB. Or could be replaced by Son/Salah.

Finally a City CS and Foden Alvarez(c) double up would love a 8-0

City CS has been almost non-existent this year. I had Ederson for most of the first third of the season and they conceded so many needless consolation goals in that time. Nice call on the double up!

City not throwing the ball into their own net after 89mins of domination would be nice
That and Bournemouth front line terrorising Spurs' 4 FBs playing out from the back

Haha see reply above - had such a frustrating time owning Ederson. Conceding those pointless last-minute goals like clockwork.

Need to be careful with Nkunku after injury. Just did 70 + 90 within the last week.

Mudryk had a small issue from last game.

Whops you're right. Why did I think Nkunku started Wolves?

          30 + 60 + 70 is still a lot in the last 11 days (not including today)

Have some sense. It's the week after Xmas and you're targeting the punters for their hard earned money. Let them spend it on their families

Fantasy sports the next frontier for gambling...

Bet365 offer you a free game with 6 selections for a £20k prize pool then offer you multiple paid entries from pennies to pounds for the same selections in variants of the game.

They lure you in and a bit like the tobacco industry always need new mugs/punters.

Nkuku benched - spent 20 hours on my wildcard debating having him or not. I have him starting with palmer first sub. Nkunku will inevitably come on for 20 mins. This could hurt. Saying that - i fancy him for a brace off the bench. Lets goooooooo!!!

Currently undecided on one spot. Was planning Ødegaard but still have my doubts about Arsenal. Have Foden/Rich/Olise & will get Bowen + 1. Other considerations are Jota/Kulu, or maybe go cheaper & upgrade Jimenez - Nkunku for more of a 343

Odegaard Bowen Palmer plus Olise and one other for me I think so possibly Jota/Kulu. Will want Son back and possibly Hwang but not straightforward decisions.

Can't confirm the 4CBs against Luton Set pieces theory

Benoît Badiashile is not in Chelsea’s matchday squad for Luton Town due to a minor injury precaution. He will train alone today at Cobham.
