      1. KenyaDigIt

Haaland's hat-tricks might dazzle with 17ish points 2-4 times a season, but KDB's steady stream of goals and assists, offering 7-16+ points, more regularly? at 3.7 cheaper, could be the key to a balanced team and flexibility, assuming both stay fit.

U may be right but for me haaland is the more explosive player and won’t be “assisting the assister”

            • 8 Years

Securing 4 explosive performances out of 16 is impressive, and currently, Haaland does give a better points-per-price ratio, especially when considering his record last season against KDB's performance over the past few years. There's no denying Haaland is a goal-scoring machine. Yet, some of the top 20 players globally have managed to thrive without relying on him.

This observation fuels my curiosity about the diverse strategies that can lead to success in FPL, highlighting the importance of considering all angles before making such a pivotal decision.

ATM I am very much on KDB (I pray for us both)

I love the passion and have to admit that I don’t think there is much between them. My team structure seems to be either salah and haaland or kdb and haaland, only in my wildest dreams could I have all 3

If Salah does return and double gw25 then I’ll feel my decision to get Haaland over kdb is justified.

Also eo is a worry for me and just don’t want to bet against haaland with such fixtures to come and thus makes my captain choice slightly easier.

              Gl to you also sir!

Your strategy resonates with the intricate balancing act we all face in FPL. Salah, Haaland, and KDB are indeed a luxurious dilemma, each with their unique potential to explode on any given matchday.

Salah's, we all love him, but only when he is fit!

Best of luck with your choice, and may your captain's armband yield bountiful points.

Most frustrating team selection of the season. I have no idea if I've gotten it right and there's no way to make this decision making any easier.

    Dubravka
    Estupinan Porro Burn
    Saka Jota Foden Palmer Richarlison
    Haaland Watkins
    (Areola Alvarez Gabriel Carlos)

I feel like I should gamble on the City forward but the penalty for being wrong is absolutely enormous. If Alvarez starts and Haaland is benched I look like a huge tit. But if I guess right then benching Alvarez is correct since it's pretty unlikely that both start.

Do you hedge and bench Jota? Captain Palmer not Haaland? This feels like the all-in option and I have no idea if it's right at all. Just pure guesswork...

    1. how now brown cow
      • 11 Years

I think I'd bench Foden over Alvarez.

The only thing with that is that Alvarez and Haaland are unlikely to both start. So the optimal decision is to gamble on one or the other. I think Foden is more likely to start so I'm less inclined to bench even when his threat is lower.

      Bench Richy or Jota.

Cap Palmer if you like being safe and boring (e.g to stay with the pack if you don't need differential because you're already on good OR rank)

Cap Haaland if you like taking a risk and gamble (e.g if you want to try and take a differential to climb rank regardless of OR)

Hey everyone, I'm at a crossroads with choosing between KDB and Haaland for my FPL team. With KDB's form and his price being £3.7m cheaper, he seems like a no-brainer over Haaland, who, despite his Hollywood appeal, comes with a hefty tag. KDB has been racking up points from midfield (even with limited minutes and has passed the eye test) potentially outscoring Haaland long term, making him look like the obvious choice.

But, I see a lot of us leaning towards Haaland. Given that KDB can match him on points, and with Álvarez eager to prove his worth with every minute he gets now, it makes me wonder if going "Haalandless" might be a smart move.

I'm open to being convinced otherwise. Is anyone here who's firmly in the Haaland camp willing to share their thoughts? What am I missing in this equation?

We've all seen some of the top 10, 50, 100 going "Haalandless" so far and doing OK....

Haaland will be benched less out the two and he is hungry to make up for lost time. If you have to choose out of the two then I'd say Haaland

Agreed! Haaland is on the watch list, and if we miss a hatty, then at least we get the point from the assists.

I think you're absolutely right. Going Haalandless earlier than most (aroung GW9 I think) was what propelled me to top 30k.

HOWEVER - with no immediate Salah or Son to concern ourselves with, why not have both? Price is irrelevant a bit with so many great low price MID options right now

      1. KenyaDigIt

Congrats on the top 30k... Keep it up! As for the price being irrelevant, I'm broke. Well .01 off Haaland 🙂 So convinced myself he wasn't worth it and will be saving my cash for double gamers... to catch up!?! TIme will tell...

You can fit more than one premium, Haaland up top and then KDB can move around between Son and Salah as the form and fixtures change. I think you could be right, but I don't think you have to compromise

      1. KenyaDigIt
        • 8 Years

100% if you have the budget, and a few cheap mids/defenders... I just don't think Haaland is worth 14m, and the fact that he only dropped .01 when 30% of people sold him, makes me want to rebel against the FPL coders and algorithm 🙂

I thought today was the last day?

It will be three weeks away now.

Even burney v Luton was 4 weeks

I think klopp doesn't want to play a weakened team against Luton or Chelsea to have a week off before the Cup final.

He is much more likely to play a weaker team in Europe.

I assume gw25 is the last free gw except 34 and 37 if Liverpool go all the way if this is the case

All of this is completely correct, but there have been some nuggets dropped from Klopp that suggest otherwise.

I still lean towards no double and have done TAA to Trippier this week for context.

But to answer the question, without context, wait for more information IMO

Who would you like long-term? Probably Solanke is Haaland is going to pose a problem but after a brace and a potential hunger for more goals to 'prove himself' (it is city), I'd stick with Alvarez for another GW or 2... Just to see if he can step up!

Two questions for this GW please.

    1) Take a gamble on TAA to Trippier, to allow for Saka to KDB for free next week.

    2) Bench one of Richy, Foden, Gross or Saka.

I'm currently on NO, NO - thoughts please?

To add some context to point 1. I 100% want to get KDB next week and Saka + TAA is the only way (that I want) to make it possible.

I am thinking A to free up funds for Alvarez to Haaland next week. But Newcastle have Arsenal gw26

I think Trippier & KDB outscore Trent and Saka this week - you can't have them all so losing Trent isn't the end of the world

Solanke or Watkins out for Haaland?

Keeping Alvarez for the time being.

Indeed it is, but Haaland and Alvarez will hopefully cover it.

I think Alvarez will suffer long term from Haaland and KDBs return so he is the better choice. Maybe not this week, but eventually

      I'd sell Alvarez.

You either think Alvarez starts this week in which case Haaland doesn't so you hold. Or else you keep Alvarez and start him. I wouldn't sell either Solanke or Watkins this week.

I think both might start, bit risky but gut feeling

I could be wrong, but I really urge you not to do this.

Good fixtures for Solanke, form of his life, double coming at some point.

Watkins talisman for Villa and will be in and around the golden boot - season hold

      Van hecke seems popular.
Branthwaite is great as a 5th.

I bought Dan Burn this week.

He won out vs Konsa and Martinez. I think it's kinda close between them. The extra 0.1m over Botman could be the difference in me being able to own Toney or not.

Any recommended transfers for this week? 2 FT, 7.0£. Painfully 0.1£ off Alvarez to Haaland.

    Dubruv (Turner)
    Porro Estu TAA (Guehi Gab)
    Saka Gordon Foden Palmer (Bowen)
    Watkins Alvarez Solanke

    Cheers.

This could backfire you into another universe. Pulled a hatty on his last outing with Forrest.
But also Haaland is a robot and has a wizard in the midfield crafting assists. Good luck brother.
