Bit lost - 2FT, 10M ITB! Advice appreciated.

    Dubravka
    TAA, Porro, Burn
    Foden, Richarlison, Palmer, Gordon
    Alvarez, Watkins, Solanke

    (Areola, Bowen, Maguire, Saliba)

    A) Watkins -> Haaland
    B) Solanke -> Haaland
    C) Alvarez -> Haaland
    D) Something else.

Don't feel like losing any of the midfielders just yet...

Very similar situation, I think it has to be Alvarez to make way. He's started almost every game this season, but not sure if that will change now KDB is fit

Ben crellin saying 75% chance of Lvpoool getting double, but 0% if not announced by tomorrow.

You guys know there’s no basis off his percentages for such instances, right?

He just puts these numbers out there to keep people hooked on him as a news source. What's his reasoning for 75%? What are the variables?

I mean I don't really see a problem with putting a probability on a prediction? That's kind of what predictions are all about. It's his judgement.

The funny thing is that Ben relies heavily on odds and the calendar to calculate his percentages - and updates them in turn.

E.g. Very recently commented about the Villa/Chelsea odds being a tad different to what he expects, so would update percentages in turn.

If there's anything pulling out a fact or opinion out of thin air, it's your comment...

I haven’t looked into his methodology but I did notice on the BGW29 tab there’s some of his workings shown to the right and below with probabilities for each of the various elements building up the main table.

He’s obviously built up some sort of database of likelihoods, perhaps based on empirical data, perhaps combined with some sort of correlation coefficient. Anyway, it looks like there’s a robust process in place

                For blanks - yes.

For doubles there’s no way of predicting without inside knowledge. Which he doesn’t claim to have.

Fair enough. I love probability but haven’t studied them for 30 years. I would imagine some educated guesses are better than others though. For instance, knowing the process and timescales for getting approvals from the council building control / safety advisory panel and knowing other potential timescale conflicts helps build a picture?

      2. CABAYE4
        • 14 Years
        2 years, 3 months ago

For postponements I agree his predictions are very driven.

For re-arrangements (I.e doubles), his predictions are the same as anyone’s - an educated guess.

I've done it, felt like the right thing to do. Its a move I would have been doing at some stage in the coming weeks and no other fires. Looking at it as more of a long-term move than this week to be honest, wouldn't have done it for a hit.

      1. Sir Michael Taker
        • 11 Years
        2 years, 3 months ago

Less of a factor maybe but if Haaland does take off this week or even if he starts instead of Alvarez, this is the move everyone will be making who owns Alvarez so there is an element of pre-empting the price movements both ways, particularly on Julian.

    3. Wenger's Puffer Jacket

In the same boat. Decided so far to hold out and swap next week. My thoughts are:

      1. Both players always start when fit.
      2. Haaland is ultra competitive and will be desperate to score again immediately.
      3. If he starts, I think 90% he scores. The problem is he won't be content with just one.
      4. I think Alvarez has been quite conscious of Haaland's impending return, and it shows in his recent performances.
      5. Haaland will be keen to dominate the attack and Alvarez will be pushed out.

Not sure if writing this actually helped, or convinced me to -4 Alvarez to Haaland...

How did Haaland actually look the other day during his 20 min cameo?

Already made my planned move of Joao Pedro > Haaland this week, I've got £3.1m in the bank and still have 1FT.. Raul now red flagged but is it worth a move, or do I roll? Alternatively.. do I need to make any other changes here?

    Dubravka
    Konsa - Botman - Porro
    Gross - Palmer - Foden - Saka - KDB
    Haaland - Watkins

    Areola - Gabriel - Estup - Raul

I would start Estu over Botman

He is on set pieces and has a higher ceiling in terms of goal scoring potential. Luton will certainly score.

    Which option?

    A) Saka/Bowen > KDB this week and then Alvarez > Haaland next week

    B) Alvarez > Haaland this week, get KDB next week

million dollar question as i am same boat - I still feel like Pep needs to manage KDB minutes

Bowen to KDB this GW, and Alvarez to Haaland next week.

Think Alvarez starts, Haaland benched and comes on around 60.

Think Pep would of let him play the full 90 + injury time if he was to bench him this GW. Not to mention him scoring a brace and then being benched would send the wrong message to the rest of the team. Plus Haaland rusty and still needs to be eased in imo

I feel like Brighton will give it all to bounce back against Palace after this last game... Also, Palace potentially without Eze or Olise

I'm selling Gross, he has been shocking during the last two games.
So if i'm selling, I will say Gross 😀
I do think Saka and co. will give as good as they get against Liverpool.

    Play one:

    A) TAA (ars)
    B) Gabriel (LIV)
    C) Gusto (WOL)

Liverpool and Arsenal are both likely to score is my answer.
Trent's attacking returns are much more appealing.
9 times out of 10 I would not say Gusto, but this is possibly the 1

Had Alvarez (c) last week, so no way I'd rather have Haaland this week, but he will be on his way in soon.

    Saka / Jota / KDB / Richarlison / Palmer
    Watkins / Haaland / Solanke?

Jota vs Arsenal is a decent record, and Wolves looked leaky vs Utd.
Right now I have Saka benched. What do you guys think? Which one would you bench?

Really tough but would probably agree. I'm benching Foden for Jota myself.

Gordon, Jota, Saka, Palmer / Watkins, Haaland, Solanke will be my likely front 7.
