I think he's the best DGW keeper, and has nice fixtures after 34 too.

How can you be sure of when he'll play? He's been benched in 3 of the last 7 games, and City have two games against Madrid and an FA Cup tie against Chelsea (who they haven't beaten this season) coming up in the next 11 days

If you really want to make that transfer now, go for it as Pickford shouldn't get injured.
Only your cheap forwards don't play before GW33 so there may be more transfers needed.

I can't understand why many pundits rate De Zerbi so highly. Brighton look great playing tippy tappy ball when they've plenty of time and space to inflict damage. But melt against more physical teams who press them. Their defence is appalling. Three defenders facing the goal not marking Havertz. The backline in Arsenal's half when pass out to Trossard was made. Hard to believe De Zerbi is Italian with such a poor defence.

Other than Conte, please name some Italian managers known for great PL defences

      1. GreennRed
        • 14 Years
        2 years, 17 days ago

Mancini, great might be an overstatement though!

Not talking about PL as such, just that I associate Italy with good defending. And De Zerbi's team don't have the streetwise to defend well as a team.

        1. x.jim.x
          • 11 Years
          2 years, 17 days ago

Mancini shipped 111 goals in 133 with one of the most expensive defences in the league. There’s been like 12 Italian managers in the league and none of them are known for defences, so just sounds like Rio level punditry.

          1. GreennRed
            • 14 Years
            2 years, 17 days ago

You think DeZerbi is a good coach for setting up his defence? That 3 defenders 2 yards from their goal are facing the goal with an opponent on the ball out right, is good defending? 4 clean sheets.

            1. x.jim.x
              • 11 Years

Where did I say? De Zerbi is shocking, doesn’t make me call his nationality into question though

                • 14 Years
                2 years, 17 days ago

I'm not questioning his nationality or disrespecting the man because he's Italian. I like Italian football especially for defensive tradition and qualities. Just saying I expect an Italian coach to have a better defensive setup. Fair point that other Italian PL managers weren't great defensively. But Brighton either look brilliant on the front foot and get results or like today, naive at the back. That's down to De Zerbi.

        2. Bushwhacker
          • 6 Years

Well maybe that’s why he’s not managing in Italy? Also not exactly his first team and it took a dodgy penalty to turn the tide.

            • 14 Years
            2 years, 17 days ago

I don't like that rule. Lamptey made some contact with the ball, no penalty for me but is under the rules. But hard to see Brighton keeping them out for remainder of the game if there was no penalty given.

    Leno
    Gabriel, Branthwaite, Kilman
    Salah, Son, Saka*, Foden, Palmer
    Haaland (c), Muniz

    Areola*, Solanke, Robinson, Doughty

No money itb, but two FT. WC and BB available.

Any early thoughts? What should I be looking into here? Thanks.

      Muniz > Mateta

If he's got literally no money he won't be able to afford these moves. Maybe if he did Leno to Henderson he'd have enough for Mateta. Or Semenyo not Mateta. But getting a doubling goalie is I think the lowest priority over other outfield players.

If it was me and WC35 was the plan, I would use 1FT this week and roll the other. I'd plan to sell Son + 1 other (maybe Foden) in GW34 for doublers - Havertz and Diaz perhaps.
This week you could do Muniz for Semenyo, bench him and play Solanke? This means you keep Son vs Toon and remove for the blank.
The other option I'd consider would use 2FT immediately and probably requires you to sell Son in 33 (or Foden if we think he misses out vs Luton), but you might be able to downgrade a bit (i.e. not Diaz, maybe Wolves mid, like Sarabia or Palace mid Eze/Olise) and get Darwin for Muniz
I think thats 10 doublers in GW34, ideally Areola is fit in GW34 or you could take a hit to get a doubling goalie allowing you to sell Leno vs Pool.
Both these options would let you bench Palmer, whom I assume you'll want on WC35 (and have lots of money tied up with) in GW34, when he plays Arsenal.

If you had WC FH BB left, which week is better to use the WC and BB? 37?

Do you want your GW34 team for 35 and 36? If you trust Pool and Arsenal, might work.

Don’t have all three, but my guess would be FH34, WC35/36, BB37.

Might be easier to FH 38 now

Depends on how you feel about the Spurs/Chelsea double in 35.
You want different teams in 34 and 37 no matter what though. You can WC to set your team for a BB in one and FH the other.

If you want to attack the extra fixtures get 5 or 6 doubles in GW35, it makes sense to use the WC either now or in GW35 to set up for BB37 as Spurs and Chelsea will be on your WC draft. Timing depends on what your team is like now. Save it to GW35 if you can. Ideally, if your team is already set for GW34 and you can get a decent number of quality doublers, you could even save the FH and play it in 38, to react to any team news and rotation if you like.
If you don't care about GW35 and think its a rubbish double, and are also willng to ignore the good fixtures for doubling teams in 37 like Toon then WC33, BB34, FH37 works. Instead, you'll be getting DGW34 players on WC (and no Spurs or Chelsea) It does means you'll likely have Palace, Bournemouth and Wolves players to the end of the season though. If doing this I'd set up a BB34 team, hope you avoid injury, roll in 34 and bring in at least Palmer and Son for DGW35
I think setting up for a GW37 BB makes most sense but its your call.

Best move here? Building for DGW34. Plan is to WC35/36 and BB37.

    A. Areola > Pickford
    B. Roll FT

    Dubravka
    Saliba, Gabriel, Ait Nouri*
    Salah, Saka, Foden, Palmer
    Haaland, Darwin, Solanke

    (Areola*, Gordon, Gusto, Kerkez)

I did A yesterday. It ended up costing me a point over just playing Dubravka.

Cheers for the reply. Thinking to just hold on this week as not desperate to play Pickford away to Chelsea anyway. Good shout for DGW34 though.

Anyone else do Watkins to Isak?

I figure a hamstring strain would keep him out longer. 11 points down the drain.

Could easily be reverse points this week.

Kerkez? I have him but not convinced he plays both games.

My decisions around Saka have been critical this season. As in left my team in a critical condition. Ah well.

    For GW34:
    Saliba, Ode or Havertz?

One DEF and two MID, apples and oranges, hard to really compare without way more context

Presumably as a third Arsenal to compliment Gabriel and Saka.
I'd be tempted by Havertz as my third on FH34.
I feel I can get Gab + 2 doubling defenders from other clubs and use my Pool and Arsenal slots to load up on attacking players.
Saliba and Ode are both much safer picks though.

If BB in 37, who is likely to be your front 3?

    1. Defcons are for Kinnear

      Haaland, Isak, Jackson.
      Hojlund a possibility

Third striker is tricky. I might have to go Welbeck or Joao Pedro based on not having a spare Chelsea slot for Jackson and wishing to avoid any Man Utd players on principle. Maybe even Werner if he contiues to play instead of Richarlison. This feels unlikely however.
No-one is talking about Alvarez so maybe monitor his minutes in the Premier League and leave a City spot?
Or even just go a decent SGW forward - although no-one grabs me with the right mix of value, form and fixtures in GW37 yet.
I'm going to work it out nearer the time I think.
