Neither nailed by the look of all the websites I’ve read and Hall may eat into Livra minutes but he might be worth a punt with good chance of regular starts and attacking threat

    My FPL season is over.

    Captained Palmer instead of Haaland.

Benched Jackson over Gordon and Son.

Was all set to blame scout entirely for my fortune but then I saw this from Tom:

    https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/26590724

Tom gave the perfect answer to both my questions in hindsight. It was a rude awakening for me as I realised I was to blame for my depressing rank.

Didn’t take the hit to bring in Haaland for Watkins, actually captained Watkins, and benched Jackson to boot. Went from 69k to 165k. On top of the FH34 decision to go Brereton-Nopoints and McBuuurrnnnhim over Mateta and Eze, whIch saw me plummet from 31k to 60k. Fortunately I’m ecstatic as I’m back where I belong among the shameful lollygaggers!

It’s tough to take. I’ve tried to be ultra safe this season but still made a lot of wrong decisions based on 50/50 calls.

I’d suggest putting it down to fate, have some fun in the last couple of weeks and start thinking about next year.

I think we're always responsible for our ranks, outside of injuries maybe. Even if you ask for advice and it turns out badly you are still the one that's decided to take it. I've managed to double my rank since GW35 due to hits and not having Jackson this week because I played WC in GW30. I was told that was a bad idea but I did it anyway because it was how I wanted to play. It went wrong but I am just enjoying playing the game for myself, otherwise I may as well copy FPL Harry every week and wait for my top 10k finish.

Jackson based on evidence was a bad pick. It just so happens that Chelsea have clicked in the past couple of games.

People that chose Jackson played the probabilities; more fixtures equals a chance of more attacking returns, irrespective of whether he was in form or not.

It’s even arguable that he could have lost his place to Palmer as a false 9, rather than turn a corner in front of goal.

Jackson’s stats are decent (stats not everything, eg Darwin but useful guide) and West Ham defence is really poor right now. I never thought of picking anyone else but can understand doubts.

The stats are not a measure of a player’s ability to finish chances. Just ask Nunez. Granted, if Chelsea continue to create 0.8 xG chances for him, then he’ll continue to score, irrespective of opposition.

Definitely believe in owning your own decisions but I think there’s an element of luck - I reckon I could be 30k higher or 200k lower with different 50/50s.

Fair. Over a season, you get the usual faces at the top.

I've never seen the template so set. The top of all my mini leagues is so set, it's extremely hard to find an angle. I've basically had a bad week because I had KDB over Jackson.

The only way back seems to be by not captaining Haaland and hope for a miracle, but it just feels silly.

    Anyone thinking the same?

    1. el polako
      • 8 Years

I tried to be “clever” to catch up and captained KDB, guy I’m chasing went with Haaland.
Now I’m 35 points behind, got to captain KDB again I guess and hope for a miracle.

Don’t care about OR, it’s personal.

Maybe KDB will reverse that this week? Haaland looked back on it this week so wouldn't gamble on the captaincy. How many points are you behind?

About 30 but honestly my KDB & Hojlund vs. Bruno & Jackson is the only difference.

Are you both on BB? Must be a few more differences out of the 15? That does look tough as agreed I'd probably prefer their combo. Maybe getting someone like Wilson might be the type of punt to go for

Ha! I had 7 of my 10 players return, but chose KDB / Foden over Haaland and am having my worst GW of the year...

Went down 90K in OR and now 50 behind in my main ML.

Chasing is impossible if the template returns at this rate.

On FH and going against my ML rival who will play his BB with 15 doublers. Need your help with:

    A) Is Son a must for 37? Thinking of picking KDB instead.
    B) Is triple Newcastle attack + triple City attack the way to go?
    C) With Spurs' form, is it right to ignore their defense completely? if yes, which three defenders?

    Thanks!

On the others - I like triple Newcastle attack (Wilson And the usual two). For city I would just do Haaland/Foden/Gvardiol - The latter looks insanely attacking and gives clean sheet coverage

      C) Still like Porro but that's it really

Same position and I'm thinking it's not possible for a FH to compete with a template BB this week. I'm just hoping to be within challenging distance for 38, hoping for some leaks, and Liverpool to bang next week. Otherwise the game is up for me

Sure lots in the same boat but having all of Schar, Van Hecke and Maguire in WC35 for BB37 has been a disaster.

Best final defender for BB37 up to £4.5m

    A. Wan Bissaka
    B. Gusto
    C. Chalobah
    D. Branthwaite
    E. Other?

    Rest of back line is
    Petrovic Pickford
    Gabriel Burn Porro Gvardiol (?)

Thanks. Yeh not an ideal situation - especially not for a hit and having to use 3 unplanned transfers on defenders (Schar > Gvardiol this week worked out, Burn I think is a safe bet for one of this week’s transfers even if Livra is a bit more exciting, Chalobah for a hit is not great but as I need to BB was probably my thought for best of a bad bunch)

I had to take a few hits recently but worked out really well. 37 is likely to be a big scoring week so makes the 4 pt hit easier to stomach given its a much smaller portion of the average - that's my way of justifying it anyway!

    a. Start Leno (home v City)
    b. Neto -> Petrovic

But if b, then it means a -4 if I opt for one of the following:
    1. Son to KDB
    2. Zarbanyi to Gvardiol
    3. Solanke to N.Jackson (moves Eze to b1)

    Few questions for BB37 please.

    1) Is it worth a FT to do Ait-Nouri or Gabriel to Porro (BUR+MCI)? .. Last two home games of the season. But one is Man City.
    2) Is it worth a -4 hit to sell Saka > Gordon? .. I definitely need Arsenal attacker in GW38. I will have to use FT for buy him back.

    Petrovic - Onana
    Gusto - Gvardiol - Burn - *Gabriel - *Ait-Nouri
    Palmer - Foden - Son - Bruno F - *Saka
    Haaland - Isak - Hojlund

With all the budget defenders dropping for gw37 and no realt stand out from the double gw teams, is triple arsenal defence worth a shout as a 1 week punt?

    I'm on fh 38

    Moves to consider with 2FTs?

    Petrovic/Raya
    Porro/Walker/Dalot/Burn/White
    Son/Bruno/Foden/Gordon/Palmer
    Haaland/Isak/Jackson

If pushed, maybe Bruno depending on how fit he is

Can't really be set up any better than that! BB in 37 I presume. Maybe Walker to Gvardiol? Or take a punt on DGW keeper for Raya but you'd probably like Raya for 38 so not sure worth it

BB! Kinda tempted by Walker to Gvardiol, wanted to be wise but picking the expensive guy costed me some big points already...I'm also considering Raya/White for some DGW punt but it's not like the options are great here, yet maybe double def not ideal for the United away game

Bit stuck here on what to do, BB37 any of these worth a hit to remove?

    1) Dubraka
    2) Petrovic
    3) Gusto

Unsure if they will play the 180mins

2 is an easy keep. He will start both. I'd sell Gusto only if you really want to bring in Jackson but that requires 2 transfers so not sure if it is worth it. From those I'd sell Dubravka

Those with Gusto (+ Petrovic and Palmer) what is the plan? Sell Gusto and take hits to bring in Jackson or just keep Gusto.

Can see the appeal of losing Gusto to allow Jackson. Looks unlikely Gusto will play both

Hasn’t passed the eye test for me after one solid game week, depends who you have already up top etc but I wouldn’t be taking a hit for him. I have the same three as you and am holding (or selling Gusto)

No BB for 37 & now Maguire out.

Any changes to squad, Bruno/Gordon was close but after watching Spurs might bench Son?

    Petrovic
    Walker, Hall, White
    Foden, Palmer, Bruno, Gordon
    Isak, Jackson, Haaland

    Raya Son, Porro, Maguire

    4.2 bank

    1FT

BB38 actually looks tempting over 37….

Not when you realize there are many team with nothing to play for which usually leads to very hard rotation.

        Lots of rotation + goals
Most play 3 at the back, I think there are more clean sheets in GW37

    BB 37-
Burn + Chelsea defender in for Saliba + Maguire. (-4)
Does this look worth it? Removing Maguire only limits options.
    Anything else you would consider?

    Ederson.
    Maguire**, Porro, Branthwaite.
    Palmer, Fernandes, Son, Foden.
    Isak, Haaland, Jackson.
    Vicario, Gordon, Gabriel, Saliba.

I think that was the first GW I have had in 15 years playing this game where every single one of my players got some kind of return, even Areola got 3 pts in a 5-0 reverse.

I think my free hit was the first time the opposite happened too.

Fun season despite my embarrassing rank.

How to optimize my DGW team?
    No BB, 2 FTs

    Petrovic
    Porro, Schär*, Walker
    Son, Gordon, Palmer, Foden
    Haaland, Isak, Jackson

    Raya, Bruno F., Gabriel, Maguire

      Schar to Burn / Dalot?

On BB - which option is best:

    A. Maguire to Porro
    B. Dubravka & Maguire to Onana & Porro -4
    C. Dubravka & Maguire to Raya & White -4
    D. Dubravka & Maguire to Raya & Porro -4
    E. Anything else?

Is it possible for a FH team to beat a template BB this week?

I feel like the midfield is set:
    Son, Bruno/KDB, Foden, Gordon, Palmer

    Attack is Haaland Jackson

So they only opportunity is in defence and a gamble on Trippier?

    Am I correct?

    1. Ginkapo FPL
      • 14 Years

      Son is poor atm
Gordon is deeper behind Wilson and Isak
KDB/Bruno feels like hope not a plan

So thats three opportunities off the bat

    BB37
Areola, Neto, Reguillon, Morris, Schar are my players to be considered as replacements for dgw37. But I'd rather stay with Areola and Reguilon so:
    a) Morris -->Jackson is no brainer (FT)
    b) Schar ---> Burn / White / who else? (-4)
    c) Neto --> ??? (-8)

Would you go for c) ?

    Ederson
    Porro Romero Burn
    Palmer Son Bruno Gordon
    Foden
    Isak Haaland

    Petrovic Jackson White Gabriel

    2 Ft what to do???

    1 White to Dalot
2 Ederson White to Onana Gvardiol

    ???

Is this a BB? You could sell 1 Arsenal defender this week for say Gvardiol, then use the extra Arsenal a lot to get Saka or Havertz

        • 9 Years
        1 year, 9 months ago

Yes then next week Saka for Bruno

Had feint hopes of winning my ML after 9 green arrows in the last 10 gameweeks, but looks like I hit the NOS too early and they still have BB left.

Robertson was the nail this week, delivering a double digit haul while my Trent scored 0. How he dodged attacking returns via Spurs, I’ll never know.
