The all-new, and official, English Football League (EFL) Fantasy game is live for the 2024/25 season!

As we mentioned on Friday, we’re teaming up with EFL for the upcoming campaign.

We’ll be bringing you plenty of content on this site between now and the season’s start on Friday 9 August.

That’ll start with a detailed ‘How to Play’, which is on its way in the coming hours.

For now, though, it’s all about the draft tinkering. Head over to the Fantasy EFL site to start putting your team together for the opening weekend.

The on-screen tutorial guides you through the basics, which we’ve also outlined below.

A BRIEF INTRO TO FANTASY EFL

This new Fantasy EFL game is different from Fantasy Premier League (FPL), asking you to pick just seven players each gameweek.

It’s also effectively a ‘free hit’ every week, meaning you can target individual fixtures.

And you get to choose from all 72 teams in the Championship, League One and League Two.

You are then allowed to keep switching selections right up until the kick-off of a relevant fixture.

You’ll also get a chance to pick two clubs each week that you think will win.

Set your captain, and your vice-captain, and you’re away!

PRIZES

By playing Fantasy EFL, you’ll be in with a chance of winning a host of top prizes (prizes subject to terms and conditions).

Monthly prizes
  • Prize recipients: top overall player(s) in main public league between August 2024 and April 2025
  • Prize detail: Puma football +branded Fantasy EFL merchandise pack

We’ve also set up our own Fantasy Football Scout mini-league.

Head to this link here to join or use the code JFV419AC after hitting ‘Join a league‘ in the Leagues section.

A huge brand and a huge coup for the scout. Well done to everyone involved.

EFL Fantasy? It's hard enough each season getting to know the PL newbies squads & other new signings let alone researching 24 other sides so I'll pass. God forbid we end up with EFL RMTs in addition to those we have to scroll through on this site as it is.

Think I will swerve this one. My brain is already full to capacity on the fantasy front with Eliteserien & Allsvenskan matters in addition to FPL.

It says you can change your entire team every week

            You have just 7 players

And choose 2 clubs which get you points if they win

            Bit too intense for me

Thoughts on this no-Haaland draft? Thanx

    Raya, Turner
A kanji, Burn, Andersen, Konsa, Faes
    Salah, Palmer, Foden, Rogers, Winks
    Watkins, Isak, Havertz

Have got a vision that Rogers will be ok at Villa & a handy enabler in my Haaland team at 5.0m. Have also got Burn at mo with plenty of other 4.5 options such as VdV if he's lost his place.

To put Haaland would have to be something like

          A- Salah, Foden and Isak
          Or
B- Haaland, Gordon and Eze (1 mil to spare)

          Either could work I guess

      2. Dotherightthing

Yh Roger’s is the cheap gamble, I can probably squeeze a 5.5 mid if I need too…
And Burn, the same, easy to shift for another 4.5 def.
But with this structure, I’ve got a city and a Arsenal in defence, plus 3 4.5 def to rotate, 6 very strong attacking players (captain to rotate) and one gamble (fourth mid)

Sounds ok, GL to you. Have got Porro instead of Arsenal def at mo together with Gvardiol/Burn/Anderson/Davis (Ipswich). Davis could go to a 4.0 to upgrade Porro to Saliba/Gabriel when required.

I would go Allison over Raya for the first few weeks....ARS are the best defense but their fixtures initially are terrible from a CS perspective

Ooh, do I want to play? I don't know. Sort of tempted but mixing Leeds & fantasy has never been a great combo for me... Would have to research L1/2 too in addition all the other fantasy teams I'm now running. Maybe I'll give it a casual whirl anyway

There's very few players whose injury record puts me off them entirely, even when fit, and it took a long time for even Reece James to cross that line for me. Don't expect to hold Isak all season but he's not quite in that category

He was great end of last season. And with Wilson injured again he becomes a safe pick, until injured but that's what we have transfers for.

Struggling to decide on a 5th mid or 3rd forward

    My current draft has:

    Salah | Palmer | Gordon | Eze | X
    Watkins | Isak | X

With a budget of around 6m I'm currently on CHO or Wood but would love to hear some outside of the box shouts

Thoughts on a front 8 of:

    Saka Eze Salah Foden (Rogers)
    Isak Watkins Pedro

    Guess key Q's for me:
    1. Haaland (then double up on News) OR Salah (Foden as only City attacker)
    2. Palmer OR Saka
    3. Is having to play one of Pedro (or that new Everton chap) or Rogers (if we get more info on him likely starting) just too risky.

This seems like a high variance draft to me.

You can't fault any of the picks really but it doesn't leave much room to be wrong. You put a lot of faith in 4.5ms defenders as well as Salah and Haaland. If these don't work out you're basically forced to WC early imo.

For that reason, I wouldn't start the season with this. But if you have high risk appetite and want Salah + Haaland, this is a good version.

Looks good to me along as you have no injuries/Rogers starts/Burn retains his place. You won't get many clean sheets in the first month though.

I like it two 4.0m defenders is old school, those that do not like it forget that lower priced midfielders in weaker sides with good fixtures can score points.

Screeshot it and leave it be. You have your team structure work within that, always the chance to put in Chelsea bargains later on.

Thanks, after last season where the defenders were a disappointment with Clean Sheets and with the bonus system taking over 4 bonus points for every goal conceded, don't really think defenders will hurt me too much, but still keeping an eye on Gvardiol

Cheers. Don't want to double up on NFO attack. Havertz ended the season in fine form and seems to have nailed the striker position. Also, need some ARS cover as well considering I will be going without Saka/ Odegaard

    Pick the better combo:
    A) Odegaard and 4.5 defender
    B) Gibbs and TAA

I like choice b - nicer run of fixtures for all three. Arsenal's are all over the shop, I tried to work out a rotation system with an Arsenal player really awkward. Went no Arsenal istead.

Looks good plenty of scope for variation in future gameweeks, likely 10 definite starters.

    RMT please - no Salah/Halland

    Pickford 4.0.

    TAA, Gvardiol, Saliba (Burn, Andersen).

    Saka, Foden, Palmer, Pereira, (Winks)

    Watkins, Isak, J Pedro

Could ditch TAA and upgrade Pereira or Pedro

Drop TAA to Virgil and bump Pedro up to Muniz

Thoughts on strong defence draft ?
    Sanchez 4m

    Havertz Isak Watkins

I look at those two cheap mids and think I'd rather downgrade the defence to upgrade them. But if you're set on a premium defence then go for it

Quite like this, has a decent bench option too!

    Sa
    Saliba | Gvardiol | Anderson
    Palmer | Saka | Foden | Gordon | Eze
    Watkins | Solanke

    Muniz | Fodder

How will you cope with Muniz's hat-trick on your bench GW2?

Hmm! Have got Muniz as part of my front 3, GW2 3-4-3 it is 🙂

I would consider these 7 to be the big hitters:

Haaland, Salah, Son, Foden, Palmer, Saka, Watkins

With Isak’s injury record, I don’t quite put him on this top shelf.

Of these 7, who is essential?

The England boys look the value. Bit harsh on Isak, very close to 6ppm.

If a player gets injured, you just sell 'im.

Haaland had 1 more appearance than Isak last season (2 more starts) so that logic doesn't really work. Isak's has more points per start than Son and Watkins too.
