Postecoglou: “Solanke was one I was very keen to get in. It took a while to get over the line but he'll be a great fit for us, I’m sure”.

Spurs have been working on this deal for weeks despite all denials, he was the top target for Postecoglou despite other links.

Very good signing, I think he breaks 20 PL goals playing Ange ball.

Given there's Mateta and Toney, it seems sensible to get the 3-4-3 structure built around Haaland - Isak - 7.5

    1. LoneWolf1989
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 27 days ago

Mateta might not start the season after being at the Olympics.
Toney is a good shout but my personal 7.5 forward pick is Solanke, Spurs won’t have paid £65 mil to sit on the bench.

I more meant as people reviewing I spent ages cross-checking the defences to find out they're the exact same, just like Isak is in every draft. Would've made my life so much easier if you listed the main-stays then the differences in an A,B,C format (personally)

City have conceded 249 PL goals in their 8 seasons under Pep.
The next best defensive record in those 8 seasons is Liverpool who conceded 291 goals.
So yeah conceding an average of 31/32 goals a season in the PL is loads.

Watkins has played 0 minutes in preseason pre game week 1 so has to be a risk of limited minutes. Wouldn’t like your benching dilemma every week! I would probably drop Watkins down and get better defence.

Will he use Kulusevski as a striker again now Solanke has joined?

No, I don’t think so. The good thing about Deki is that he can play that attacking midfield . I think the reason for us why we signed Dom, and hopefully Richy should be ready as well, is that we want to have a player through that area who is a bit more accustomed to that role. Deki has done a great job for us but I think his strengths and attributes are more in that attacking midfield or wide role. I think he is really developing and has had a really good pre-season for us and hopefully it gives us some more flexibility and potency through the middle when he is playing because he can get into those scoring areas.

By all accounts Howe is a stickler for rhythm and system. that's why people think Hall is nailed and Gordon won't start immediately.

He doesn't seem to like changing up his back four, unless there are injuries. Hall most likely starts GW1, but with Trippier still around, Kelly joining the squad and maybe Guehi there could be changes in a few GWs.

In the Sela cup last preseason, Howe had mix and match teams, except for his preferred front three. I think last night was the front three (Gordon, Isak and Murphy) that he wants to play in GW1. The front three today very much felt like the backups. Barnes scored a decent goal today, but has been generally poor in preseason.

    Thoughts? BB GW 2, potentially.

    Pope
    Gabriel Porro Zinchenko
    Saka Son ESR Minteh
    Haaland Isak Muniz

    Henderson Bobb Robinson Harwood-Bellis

hard to plan for BB 2 because of likely unforeseen complications but fair play for trying something.

Of course, I think with 5 FT’s it helps having a stronger bench, anyway.

Hall is a tricky one. I'm sure it's now his spot to lose and the only natural LB (Kelly more CB I'd suggest?), but now that Trippier is staying Livramento (and Burn) could possibly come in at points...

Guehi confirmed would complicate matters somewhat.

Schar injury reduces the CB option available

Back 4 for GW1 might be the below:

      Hall Burn Kelly Tino/Tripps

I'm certain he'll start GW1, it's just if he sustains it

I thought Schar had posted on social media that today was a good workout and see you next week. Is there further news about his injury?

          Maybe he will be fine.

          Eddie Howe on Schar's injury:

"I haven’t spoken with Fabby yet, I hope it’s not too bad. It seemed like an ankle twist. He obviously felt a little discomfort but we hope he’ll be OK."

Cheers. I think going with 8 attackers is the way to go so you can bench those who have tough fixtures. With my team, I have the luxury of benching Nkunku against MCI whereas those who are going with Harry Winks will have to play him regardless

    Goalkeepers are nightmarish.

    Ward/Iversen two years ago

Lots of people dodged Pickford/Areola/Onana's points when WCing them out
