Think I’m set, would really appreciate the help on my team?

£0.5 in the bank to do either son to palmer or Isak to Watkins after first couple of game weeks?

    Areola
    Porro | Quansah | Hall
    Son | Bowen | Jota | Gordon
    Haaland | Havertz | Isak

    Turner | Barco | Winks | Harwood-Bellis

Being a West Ham fan makes this easier, although did even consider paqueta or kudus

The defense is an issue. Porro pretty much the only nailed long term player. Would consider downgrading one of the 7.5 mids to upgrade defense

I had Bowen but decided to go paqueta who should do well plus has pens. You could use the change to upgrade def

    90% set on this:

    Areola
    TAA White Gvardiol
    Saka Son Gordon Jota
    Solanke Muniz Isak

    Fabianski Nkunku Robinson Faes

Going without the two big dogs means I can afford a team with 11 outfield players who can haul. At the start of last season I had a rubbish bench and was burnt by random unexpected injuries and benchings, meaning the 4.5 mid and 4.0 defenders were getting played way more than I would have liked. So I want a better quality bench this year to avoid that recurring. I also think spreading the money around could be advantageous this season with transfers stacking up to 5. I think there’s potential to find some advantage in using your bench a little more than in previous seasons.

Ignoring Salah and Haaland gives some good flexibility with price points as well. The key price points for def are 6.0 & 4.5, for mids 10 & 7.5, and 7.5 - 9.0 range for fwds. I like that draft with its ability to skip around those price points based on form and fixture. The last thing I’m tossing up is whether to stretch Muniz to Havertz as I think a) he’ll have a good year and b) that makes getting to Watkins easier (I see Watkins, Isak and Solanke all as great season keeper accumulator type picks). I’m just not sure it’s worth either downgrading one of jota or Gordon or moving nkunku down to smith Rowe and finding another million from the defence.

Massive post sorry, just curious to hear other's thoughts on my thinking

It looks great on paper but you are going to have captaincy headaches and some anxious game weeks when Salah/Haaland look like getting mega hauls. Eg, captaining Haaland GW2 against Ipswich should score 30+ points.

It’s the elephant in the room with that draft and I do see Haaland performing really well with Kdb returning. I actually found it to be a problem last year with Haaland more or less perma captained in my team. It felt like you wouldn’t get anywhere when he returned and went backwards when he didn’t. If for nothing else it will be ‘fun’ to mix up the captaincy (until Haaland inevitably scores 3 vs Chelsea this weekend)

i'm not impressed by Salah either as Jota/Diaz are not that far away but Haaland is the best captain for gws 2,3 imo and I can't go without him

My thoughts exactly on Salah. I often found him frustrating when I watched him last year and think he may be on the slow decline. I also felt quite a few of his goals / assists in the games I watched of his last year were quite fortunate. Who knows though, having a new manager might give him a new lease on life and I could be scrambling

I'm going all in and starting Haaland, Isak, Salah and Saka now. I consider these to be the four optimum captains for the first four. Will want Palmer in at some point but happy to wait a bit. I'm also not sure Salah will still be the force he was but Ipswich and Brentford are potential hauls so happy to be in the mix for the points. Comforting to know what ever happens in those games I shouldn't get burnt and won't need to get behind the sofa.

In my BB1WC2 I have 3 players that aren’t nailed but have a good chance of starting GW1 based on preseason. Zinchenko, QUANSAH and Jesus. A bit risky but the money saved on these 3 over the likes of Gabriel, VVD and Havertz goes a long way when picking 15 players

I think Zinchenko starts but could be subbed even before 60min to get Calafiori up to speed and Gabriel/Saliba has the same attacking threat from corners so worth the extra 1m imo

My team has changed so much in the last two days but feeling good about it now.

    Henderson
    Gvardiol Barco Quansah
    Son Saka Jota ESR
    Haaland Isak Solanke

    Matthews Lavia Robinson Harwood

Trying to avoid players without much preseason, only reason Saka is making the cut currently is because Arteta will play him into the ground.

    Worried.

Done a heap of research on the Newcastle backline last night. Obv Trippier hasn't really left yet and with the looming Guehi transfer (or is that done?), I've been looking as to who is the safest bet.

Don't kill me if I'm wrong or swiftly eject me from FFS.

    But my gatherings are Burn.

    With Hall a close second.

    Hey I~ may be wrong.

It is the fly in the ointment in what I consider to be my settled draft & I wish they'd pull their finger out sharpish. I think Livramento & Hall to be better than Burn in the FB slot. Toon fans were complaining he was too slow last season. So Burn should hopefully be kept in a CB slot. It's the Guehi & Trippier issues. Cash in on Trippier while they still can & use it to seal the Guehi deal.

The Guehi deal is not even close to being "done"
Steve Parish said yesterday "no enquiring team has come close to the price, if you want a premium player you have to pay a premium price" and Palace were not even in discussion with Newcastle or anyone else.

Trying to decide between Solanke and Joao Pedro. depends a bit on what one can do with the cash. JP feels as exciting as Muniz/Woods but cheaper and on pens. Solanke could explode but he may not do well in a bigger team (eg Liverpool before).

    1- Solanke 7.5 + Minteh 5.5
    2- Joao Pedro 5.5 + Eze 7.0 + 0.5
    3- Joao Pedro 5.5 + Gordon 7.5

The 5.5 I pick would rotate with ESR.

    Cheers!

Only made two tweaks to my original picks. Watkins up to Haaland via taking out Saliba and this also allowed Isak upgrade on the then Bournemouth Solanke. I've now swapped Palmer to Saka. I'm unsure on Chelsea and they play City. Nkunku could make Palmer a no go this season. There must be more points for Saka this week and he's a possible GW3 captain.

I think I have the four best captains for GW's 1/2/3 and can then reassess in GW4 hopefully with a couple of transfers saved. Gvardiol backing up Haaland(c) could really punish non-Haaland owners next week. Potential rank gain there to be had.

Palmer may well come back in for Saka/Salah. Maybe GW5 when it's City/Arsenal. Rashford was in my auto picks and I've just got this feeling he's going to hit the ground running this season. With my spare 0.5 I took out Faes for Guehi. I'm happy with him whoever he ends up playing for.

    Areola
    Gvardiol Martinez Guehi
    Salah Saka Rashford Rogers
    Haaland Isak(c) Muniz

    Thinking of GW 3 WC.

Looks like a good time to get rid/reduce on Spurs, Newcastle double up. It also allows you to jump on Palmer,Saka and get Salah maybe even Jota looks shaky in the first 2.
