I like it. I'd use the money in defense.

I had a similar draft setup that has Saliba, Quansah, Robinson, Barco, Johnson. The defense is really cheap but I think it should be fine for the first few weeks.

      Get a second 4.5m keeper for 0.5.

And this might not be popular, but if you can hold back 0.5m itb it can be precious. As soon as prices start to move on someone you want, if you miss a 0.1 price rise, effectively it is 0.5 to you. You will either have to downgrade a more expensive player, or take a hit to do two transfers. 0.5m itb gives you a safety blanket for price rises.

    Why?

    1. Tony Two Tone

A, because Son and Muniz are more solid in terms of having a good idea of what you are getting from them. It's difficult to know how Many U will start, Solanke might take some time to settle in, and if Richarlison stays he'll likely take some minutes from him, oh and he won't have penalties like he did at Bournemouth.

  10. Eze Really?
    • 12 Years
    2 years, 23 days ago

I thought I would give a mention on high owned players one might to think twice about at the start of the season.
Henderson: Allowing for the fact that Munoz might be a better choice in defence and being aware, 2 Palace spots at the back could restrict you; given the fact that Eze is a number one and both Mateta, Kamada, and choices for other defenders could impact..
Mykolenko: I wrote a hot Topic on this man. The cons far outweigh the pros in this case and it would be worth a read an you might want to reassess.
Solanke: Not a bad choice, but one must take credence on probably losing penalties, minutes risk from Kulu, Richa showing up and settling into the Spurs style. Expect similar returns to last year but not a major upsurge.
Quansah: I love him as a player and at 4.5 what is not to like. The problem is with all the attacking choices available at Pool, including defenders like TAA, one might run out of spaces.
Flecken: have a good look at his keeping standards last year and preseason form for Brentford. The Bees did have a lot of missing defenders last year, but that does not explain the poor xGS he had.
Turner/Burn/Harwood B: Think about price drops if they don’t play or defenses leak goals. Not transfers you really want to make early in a GW to avoid drops. Burn could play ATM due to Schar injury doubt.
The above is not perfect but something for some to think about.

Thanks for this. I currently have Hendo/Myko, but may change it to Areola/Andersen. Myko could be okay in a rotation given Dyche and the fact that Eve can't score goals so will have to keep it tight? In terms of value per million think he was one of the best last season.

Solanke - I expect less rotation that you but let's see what happens. He could be on pens to help get him off the mark but guess we have no Idea.

Though of moving to Robinson and have .5 ITB that I slightly prefer. Also with the PL changing rules AGAIN, the added time can come down and clean sheets can go up to more like before. The bonus rule lends me to avoiding less expensive defenders that will let in more goals. (Porro would normally be in for Gabriel)

Thanks for this - very useful & interesting. I agree on Solanke - he'll do well, but I think Muniz or Wood probably better to start with given fixtures (looking at 6-8 weeks) and the little bit of uncertainty over exactly how Solanke fits in at Spurs - and a 1.5M saving.

Picking a 4.5 keeper is tricky - though it probably won't make a lot of difference which one! I wonder if Wham might do better defensively than expected.

Not too worried about Harwood Bellis dropping as long as he starts (though I see he's up to 11% owned so maybe it's a risk). Expectations of Burn probably higher.

If you'd go A, maybe you should change your setup. Go Jota in midfield in a 3-5-2.

        I'm looking at:

        Salah, Son, Saka, Jota, Bobb
        Isak Solanke

0.5m ITB for Son > Palmer down the line.

It looks good on paper but it's too concentrated on a few teams for my liking.

7 attackers, only 4 teams. I want at least 5 teams, 6 preferably. If for some reason Newcastle, City or Spurs have an off-day you're not in good shape.

Even just Son > Saka would be good imo.

You're not going to want having no City attacker, so another way of looking at it is:

      Haaland + Jota
      Foden + Salah +0.5m

Why not? Their opening 5 fixtures are not that good. They don't have Rodri and probably Foden for the first game at least. They also didn't look particularly good in the community shield. Ofc there is risk where Haaland is involved but it's really just Haaland.

If Haaland didn't exist nobody would be craving City 'coverage'. It's not about City attacker, it's about Haaland.

I'm on no Man City, and don't think that will change. My reasoning re Haaland is above and Gvardiol is playing in more of a back 3 with Rico Lewis inverting (in the Community Shield) so until Walker or Stones are confirmed back I don't feel it's too high of a risk.

Decisions, decisions. Do you think it would it be better to start Barco and Rogers over Gvardiol and Nkunku who will be up against each other?

I’d be starting Gvardiol and just wouldn’t have Nkunku in my team in the first place

Wanted to hear what are people's thoughts on Luis Sinisterra ?

Had a great preseason and only 5.0m.

Looks like he is going to be an important player for Bournemouth as well.

I have him in my team presently, anything I am missing ?

Good luck all, almost there and pages will whiz by faster and faster.

    Fairly settled on this:

    Henderson 4.0m
    Trent Myko Robinson Pau Harwood-Bellis
    Salah Eze Nkunku ESR Winks
    Haa Isak Solanke

    Any thoughts to improve?

Haaland scored 3 against Chelsea in a friendly. With current Chelsea defence, it would be a miracle he doesn't score at least once.
