Could be a good problem but the last dilemma for me seems to be Bobb v Rogers for the 5th mid spot.

Feel like Bobb would be there to start as it’s city, rogers more of an enabler with the better fixtures?

Rogers safer for minutes so I would either have him or go up to 5.5m

      I've gone for Rogers:
      1. I'm a Villain
      2. Want that 3rd slot for Foden from GW2 (H Ipswich)
      3. Believe Rogers was introduced to this team late last season with this season in mind, so I think more starts as City are overrun with options once all back fit & firing.

It's a compromise, Garnacho is nailed starter ahead of Sancho/Rashford/Amad. ESR seems to have been rotated pre-season with Andreas so get where you're coming from.

Anyone else noticed the word 'nailed' slowly losing it's meaning round here? To me it is someone who starts every game possible, 90 minutes most of the time. I've seen players being described as nailed when they certainly don't fit that description

      • 9 Years
      2 years, 23 days ago

I'm guilty of this but agreed, you're either 100% nailed or you're not.

If you have to ask if someone is nailed, chances are they probably aren't

    4. The Mentaculus
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 23 days ago

I guess people are just looking for an intermediary term that covers "should be a regular starter initially" for someone like Quansah. "Rotation risk" is too far in the other direction as I don't see Slot just randomly changing his CBs week-to-week with no European/cup games yet.

    5. Deulofail
      • 10 Years
      2 years, 23 days ago

I always used it to mean 'practically guaranteed to start, assuming unforeseeable issues don't keep them out (e.g. new sickness, new injury, etc). I think some/many people see it as 'practically guaranteed to start, assuming they aren't rested', which is where the meaning is a bit clouded for me.

Didn't know people considered it a 90-minute thing. I don't see how "most of the time" is compatible with the concrete certainty of being "nailed".

      1. TheBiffas
        • 5 Years
        2 years, 23 days ago

Well 90 minutes every game for a whole season, so the baseline is starting every game available. A player like mo Salah will start every game available and regularly get 90 minutes, besides the occasional sub. I'd consider that as nailed.

      2. TheBiffas
        • 5 Years
        2 years, 23 days ago

90 minutes every game for the whole season is extremely rare*

Which of these 2 or neither and start again lol

    Henderson (Turner)
    Gabriel, Quansah, Lewis (Barco), (Nedeljkovic)
    Salah, Saka, ESR, Rogers (cozier-Duberry)
    Haaland, Isak, Solanke

    Flekken (Turner)
    Quansah, Lewis, Burn(Barco), (Anderson)
    Salah, Saka,ESR, Rogers (minteh)
    Haaland, Isak, Solanke

Could swap Solanke for someone like Pedro maybe to beef midfield or defence slightly maybe? Or swap Saka for Odegaard and do the same

    1. The Mentaculus
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 23 days ago

Personally I like the 2nd one to rotate Minteh / Rogers and have some insurance against Rogers not starting.

Would look at more nailed alternatives to Lewis & Burn though as you risk ending up with only 2 starting defenders in a few weeks' time

Hello fellas, care to rate my team? After weeks of tinkering, I have struck a sweet spot in my team where I'm satisfied with all parts by having players who cover all the bases I care for in the team.

    Raya
    Gvardiol, Porro, Barco
    Saka, Jota, Bruno, Eze, ESR
    Haaland, Isak

    Valdimarson, Robinson, Johnson, Jebbison

    Couple of points:
    - Raya as the cover for best defence in the league
    - Attacking minded defenders who should more times than not cover the inevitable loss of CS
    - Couple of talisman players with pens and all set pieces (Bruno, Eze, Isak)
    - Couple of best attacking options from the best attacking teams (Saka, Haaland)
    - wildcards with some risk but high ceiling (ESR, Jota) who can be sold if not performing/benched/injured

Thank you! He is a bit pricey risk I'll admit, but I'm banking on him to continue his form from the end of last season, and the fact that he will play in the false 9 position until Hojlund recovers from injury or Zirkzee gets some minutes.
Also, he is always penciled for 90+mins

Same as with Declan Rice, yes they are cheap ways into best attacking teams, but you technically have to start them entire season due to unpredictable nature of their attacking returns.
They may blank in 6-0 win vs Southampton, but will get you a 13-pointer in 2-2 draw vs Liverpool due to some wild long-range screamers

    4. Paul Psychic Octopus
      • 15 Years

Unlikely to play GW1, maybe not GW2. No pre-season, and recovering from injury in Euros final.

After that he's a brilliant pick (as is Rice). Rodri ranked 11th in Mids last season, and scored more points than all defenders bar White/Saliba.

It doesn't matter how "attacking" their starting position is. It's accruing points that counts.

What's more surprising is that Watkins is in 42% of teams despite no pre-season. Foden in 22% and ditto. Turner on 21% despite being third-choice keeper!

Currently have Munoz, bobb and Muniz.

Shall I take a 0.5m down to Pedro and upgrade bobb to ESR.

Or should I take 0.5m down to Pedro and upgrade Munoz to Porro

Or shall I keep my original 3?

I'd say first option, Pedro and ESR. That's better long term as Bobb will lose his place in the team.

Does Pickfors worth 0.5 over the rest 4.5 gw's??

Not for me when you can have Mykolenko at 4.5

What are peoples thoughts on these? Little bit stuck but think I'm nearly there.. still umming and ahhing about Salah/no Salah and Jota instead.

    Raya
    Taa - Gvardiol - Porro
    Jota - Eze - Saka - Minteh
    Haaland - Isak - Pedro

    Fabianski - Quansah - Bellis - Winks

This team looks good but I prefer ESR to minteh

Any reasoning why you prefer him to Minteh? Minteh had a great pre-season, slotted into that team really well. Assuming just because ESR has scored twice in pre season?

Esr fixtures are awesome including Friday night. Not proven in the prem.

Minteh might be eased in and has competition from a number of wingers including adingra Mitoma and many other attackers like Pedro undav welbeck etc

Minteh to ESR and your not far from template.

Template defence would be TAA to Gvardiol and Raya to Henderson. Then Pedro to Solanke but if your confident in Pedro, your G2G

Which combination to go with over the first 5 GWs?

    A) Trent, Bobb and JP
    B) Quansah, ESR and Solanke

Think Q will play for a while, Trent seems a bit expensive and that ESR/Solanke will have more points in them combined than Bobb/JP

Well when you put it like that...

Looks like I'm heading to B then!

Thank you so much Rama, great answer (until ESR gets injured GW1 😆 but it's the risk you take) appreciate you taking the time to respond 🙂

B - think Quansah is a safer longer term pick than Bobb

        Hmmm...

You could be right there, but to have to lose Trent for me is a hard pill to swallow and Bobb in GW2 could have a stormer!

On the other hand, getting a piece of that Fulham and Spurs attack looks really good as I'm currently on A tbh...

Hmm both look strong, I don't really have an overwhelming preference. But I'm slightly unsure on the value of Trent just yet so maybe B

        Thank you!

Think I'm gonna go with B, just can't risk not having a piece of that Fulham or Spurs attack to start off with...
