Shots on target is one of the best stats to look for the best FPL assets.

Look at that list of players. The top 4 are fantasy royalty and the best assets in the game.

Below them are Jackson, Havertz, Watkins, Mbeumo and below that are all players with varying degrees of FPL interest mostly driven by price and position.

If we see a player start creeping up this chart they should be put on the watchlist immediately. Paired with good fixtures they should be high priority buys even if the points haven't come in yet.

3 points for a shot on target is outrageous. That needs to be seriously nerfed. 1 point max per shot.

Yea, exactly. This looks like it will only benefit stat nerds. Who cares about ball recoveries and other boring garbage.
This is obviously the best fantasy game going, clearly demonstrated by the numbers, so they want to copy other worst games who copied them. The logic...

On the other hand there was Ultimate FPL back when I started playing in 2014/15 season, it had points system similar to the one mentioned in the article but tuned down a lot. So for example player would get 1 extra point for every 3 key passes, 1 extra for 3 interceptions etc.
I remember creative players like Dimitri Payet or David Silva getting 5-7 points even when they "blanked", this additional 3-5 points were a product of their creativity etc. So it can be done but I'm afraid that it can easily be "overcooked", for example balancing players prices will be much harder. In UFPL you had bigger squad and bigger budget, transfers were sort of limited, not playing Sky Fantasy but from what I've heard people talking about it Sky got a lot of ideas from UFPL.

I don't know, I love FPL as it is and I'm afraid this progress at all cost may eventually damage it, I already dislike this idea of mystery chip. In my opinion the chip will be something not really significant but still, all rules should be known and clear before starting game.

Draft for me is great, small leagues, every squad is different but, unfortunately, it is not very popular in here, it's difficult to find engaged people to play it.

Bring back UFPL and play both. It was a shame it never took off as I and many others loved it but it didn't have a high number taking it up for some reason.

Ah I vaguely remember ultimate, don't think I ever played it though.

I am sure in the right setting it works, like the other games that incorporate it, but as you said, why mess with FPL. You can guarantee they will over-cook it lol.

I was thinking about Payet the other day, he was such a good FPL asset, I shed a tear when he left the PL xD

It’s a balancing act I guess for FPL Towers - how do you keep the game stimulating to “engaged” players , whilst making it straightforward to understand to “casual” players like my wife who understands goals, assists and clean sheets but would have absolutely zero interest in “ball recovery” or “fouls drawn”. I’d probably come down on the side of “don’t make major changes to a game with ten million players”, which is probably why I’ve zero interest in either EFL Fantasy or FPL Challenge.

Not sure I’m too keen on these potential changes to FPL. Sounds like it could end up similar to the Metro game which I dabbled in but couldn’t get enthusiastic about. Positive changes, like the ability to bank 5 trades, are welcomed. But change for change’s sake, no thanks.

On WC6 he was “essential” because he was allegedly Salah for 5m less.

Now he’s a sell because, fixtures?

It’s mad and the answer is obviously somewhere in between

BTW really think the creators are overplaying fixtures in general. Like does a a fixture swing really matter for Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool? These teams are pretty fixture proof. Think you can make a similar argument at the opposite end of the table too

I like to think I'm engaged enough in this game to not be a causal. But I'm also casual enough to be expected to be sitting in feavourously counting up shots, crosses , tackles and whatnot else.
Let me enjoy the game somewhat while I'm watching please.

Imaging the agruements that would ensue on here. When was a tackle as tackle , when was a shot a cross etc etc.
I mean we get a small snap shot of that already. These expected change would exasperate that ten fold. Not fun.

There's something wrong with this thread, we are all replying to my comment, despite not replying to it.

They're actually replying to others in the thread, but after about eight indentations the software stops indenting further and then treats them all as replies to the previous indentation.

It's been like this for years, because continuing the indentations indefinitely would cause the messages to be split into shorter and shorter sections and eventually disappear off the right-hand side of the page, but it would be good if the software could recognise which message is being replied to after the indentation limit had been reached, perhaps by numbering the depth to which they would have been indented if they hadn't exceeded the limit or something like that.

It always works like that? I never noticed this ever before, even in really long threads.

So basically turn FPL into the Sky game, I'm in favour of that since the Sky game no longer exists, Sky was a far better game with a bonus system that was less convulted and easier to understand, price changes would be a nightmare to navigate under that system though since all sorts of different players will haul every week so maybe they would need to do away with that too

It’s up for debate whether or not that game was better, I’d say FPL is a better game but Sky was maybe a bit more strategic

What isn’t a debate is that the majority of the 10 million players aren’t interested in playing the game for tackles and interceptions

The game is perfect as it is, with minor tweaks each season keeping it simple

Yeah now that you say it I think it was the strategic aspect of Sky that made it so enjoyable for me, the strategy came from changing captains each day and using transfers to gain extra fixtures, no price changes also meant you could plan far in advance, its highly unlikely FPL will change that much, but I personally think the bonus scoring was better than FPL too as getting the right balance of steady bonus earners and explosive haulers was key,

as for the 10m players they would adapt to the new template which would involve having the likes current FPL non entities Dunk and Rodri essential lol

Imagine the average FPL manager changing captain every day. They cant handle picking one most of the time xD
