Hmm unsure on the skpper and to start Roger (at home) or Pedro away...

    Fab
    Gabriel Gvardiol Robinson
    Salah(c) Palmer Sake Mbuemo Rogers
    Solanke Strand-Larson

    Areola Pedro Ait-Nouri Greaves

I would start Pedro over Rogers. He has a higher ceiling I think.
Salah vs Palmer for captaincy for me and I'm not sure I want to waiver from Salah, he's been very reliable so far. Palmer at a Southampton side who are now missing some key players could be gold though.

Same thoughts here actually. Only got Salah back in last week after the Haaland disaster. Feel he could get the better of Hall quite easily..? Villa look spent it's just the fact it's a home game really. Really close between the two but am loathe to say it but Liverpool just look unstoppable to me!

Reluctant to bring Jacko in especially with Spurs on Sunday, surely the manager doesn't risk Jackson whilst on 4 YCs. Nkunku could start against a weaker opposition in Southampton.

Spurs vs Chelsea over the years has been a bad tempered match, so wouldn't be surprised!
Just not sure Maresca risks Jackson in a winnable game against Southampton when Nkunku is good enough to start.
It's a tough game for Chelsea on Sunday vs Spurs.

It really is mad that City play Forest, Palace, Villa, Everton, Leicester, West Ham, Brentford and Ipswich over their next 10 games and I doubt more than a fraction of the game have tripled up. Aguero + KDB + Laporte would have been beyond essential a couple of seasons ago.

Saying that, I really think they'll struggle over the next period - it's the busiest time of year and their shockingly poor squad management is finally catching up to them.

    1. Digital-Real
      • 9 Years

All those are winnable games. Their form will pick up soon, too good a manager and players for their slump to continue.

      1. x.jim.x
        • 11 Years
        1 year, 2 months ago

Their last 7 games have all been winnable and they've took 1 point from 21. Their best players are injured, declining or washed with nobody there to step up.

        1. Digital-Real
          • 9 Years
          1 year, 2 months ago

Are you sure they were winnable games?
Liverpool was a tough game and not easily winnable.
City at their peak struggled to beat Spurs, so no surprises they lost.
Brighton away is a difficult match.
Finally, Bournemouth away was no gimme, especially when Bournemouth have been in good form this season and having already beat Arsenal at home this season.

I'm certain City's form picks up very soon, they have enough experience and quality.

          1. x.jim.x
            • 11 Years

You're talking about Manchester City - one of the greatest managers ever backed with a billion pound group of players who won the treble 18 months ago. Liverpool away is the only game they don't go into as massive favourites, but that's always been the case.

Questioning whether the champions should be winning away at Brighton or Bournemouth is madness. They're having good seasons, but it's City we're talking about.

            1. Digital-Real
              • 9 Years
              1 year, 2 months ago

In the form they've been in and having lost the most important player in football, why wouldn't you question their chances against Brighton?
I actually had Brighton down to win that match against City and also Spurs.

They shouldn't need Rodri to beat a team in 13th. That's part of my point - their recruitment has been so poor, they haven't got a backup for 'the most important player.' There's no other team in the league that would get away with blaming results on one player's absence.

                1. Digital-Real
                  • 9 Years

Liverpool lost VVD in 20/21 early in the season, when they were top of table. They finished 3rd on 69 pts, conceding 42 goals. It's safe to say VVD the best defender in the world at the time was a significant loss and Liverpool fans said it. In the past Liverpool have lost Salah and Mane to AFCOM and hasn't affected their form.
Some players are crucial to a team. Rodri is that player, he is so important to City's way of playing, he's press resistant and starts many of their forward play from the back.
Rightly so that City fans attribute their slump to the absence of Rodri.

                  1. x.jim.x

Liverpool lost all their senior centre-halves that season, it wasn't just down to Van Dijk. They were playing Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips at the back ffs.

If anything, the fact that they finished third just shows that good teams don't just collapse when one player is missing. They won away at Old Trafford and the Emirates, and held Madrid to a draw with a third-string defence.

Even if things were going well where would you triple up given Pep roulette? Gvardiol and Edersom both dropped over the weekend. Its only the lack of another striker at the club that is probably stopping robot getting rotated out.

Haaland, Foden and Gvardiol would probably be the template. 'Pep Roulette' isn't really a prominent thing anymore.

Would you lot move Mbeumo out to Bowen?

My thinking is Brentford have lots of routes to goal (bit like Brighton in that respect), but Bowen seems the main player for WHU. Plus their upcoming fixtures are tasty.

Rest of my mid is Saka, Salah, Palmer, Johnson.

Was actually thinking about it for a hit. Love Mbeumo but he can't buy a haul at the moment.

I did, but they do have other avenues to goals. Hopefully we'll get a steady stream of points with maybe a haul next 5.

I'm selling Mbeumo I think, this GW or next, but still pretty hesitant on West Ham despite the paper-view of the fixtures. Maybe it could work out with a high scoring defeat at Leicester & a sacking?

Get Gomez in for Konate or play Kerkez and reasses next GW?

    Current def:
    Raya
Ait Nouri, Kerkez, Digne (Hall, Konate)

Gomez good until Konate returns. Slot has said TAA's minutes will be managed, he'll move to the RB when Trent is hooked since Bradley is injured. Furthermore, we may see Gomez playing LB (played their last season) whilst Tskimas is injured and Robertson's minutes are also managed during the fixture congestion
