We’ve seen eight managers bank 100 points or more, as the mini-league heats up. Triple Gameweek 21 sees 106 fixtures take place, with 66 sides tripling across one week – read on here for further info.
Here, we go through the top three managers’ teams heading into the second round of matches on Sunday 29 December. There are seven 12:30 kick-offs, including Sheffield United vs WBA in the Championship, and Charlton Athletic vs Wycombe Wanderers in League One. With 70 more fixtures to go, who will come out victorious?
1. ‘Mixing codeine up with the Brannagan’

The top team of the mini-league so far has a huge 111 points already. This team has used their Max Captain chip, making Luke Garbutt (D) their captain so far. This defender was not a popular selection, but it is proving to pay off with the Salford City man registering 18 Fantasy points in his first fixture. At just 0.3% ownership, this shrewd selection certainly separates this team from the others. The 31-year-old scored his first goal of the season (+7) alongside a clean sheet (+5) and contributions points (+4) for this huge haul. His next two fixtures are against teams with poor offensive records, and more clean sheets could certainly be on their way.
This manager has also managed to select two of the five highest-scoring clubs of the Gameweek so far. Leeds United and Wycombe Wanderers both managed an away win with a clean sheet and two or more goals, earning 11 points each. Ryan Allsop (G) was a fairly safe selection, with the Birmingham City ‘keeper managing clean sheets in four of his five games before Gameweek 21. He kicked off the Gameweek with another shutout, and his 5.9% of managers will be hoping for at least one more in the following two matches.
2. ‘The Meslier’ – 103 points

This manager trails with 103 Fantasy points so far this Gameweek. The Max Captain chip is on Finn Azaz (M) in this side, as the Middlesbrough star managed a 17-point haul in his first game. He bagged two goals (+12) and an assist (+3) in just 59 minutes against Sheffield Wednesday, and has been selected in all three of these top teams. The number 20 is an extremely popular option this Gameweek with 12.2% ownership, and he is massively rewarding those managers. He could see a lot of action against Hull City (A), considering their defensive vulnerabilities this season.
This manager has also made a great selection with Leyton Orient’s Omar Beckles (D), who scored 15 points in his first game. He was a shrewd selection for this Gameweek, given his favourable fixtures on both ends of the pitch. He managed a goal (+7) and clean sheet (+5) in this one, and more returns are expected against Cambridge United (H) and Bristol Rovers (A).
The selections of both Leeds United and Birmingham City, two teams who have been in excellent form as of late, were excellent decisions and they have rewarded this manager with 20 Fantasy points combined from their first matches.
3. Sido Come Home – 102 points

This manager has scored 102 Fantasy points through one set of fixtures, and looks set to net a lot more than that by the end of the Gameweek. The dominant Finn Azaz (M) is once again the Max Captain selection for this side, with a huge 34-pointer making up a third of the 102 points. Jay Stansfield (F) was another popular pick who is rewarding managers, with all three of these teams selecting him. The Birmingham City talisman has consistently recorded goal contributions and the fixture against Burton Albion was no exception. Stansfield is likely to be involved once again in the upcoming match against Blackpool (H). Their leaky defence, having conceded 33 goals in 21 games, presents a prime opportunity for Stansfield to make his mark.
However, the defence is really where this side shines. Four of the five defensive selections managed clean sheets, whilst Mickey Demetriou (D) made up for it with eight contribution points. There is hope that Crewe Alexandra can record at least one clean sheet in this Triple Gameweek. However, Demetriou will likely contribute significantly due to his defensive impact. He is the highest-scoring player in the game with 165 Fantasy points, and the second most popular defender with 15.5% ownership.
