Buy kluivert before the inevitable price rise(s) or wait for dgw news?

Sorry for the pity post, each season I reach a very down stage where I kinda wanna give up, and this is it I think……after 5 consecutive red arrows now sinking me to 750k and even dropping to 2nd now in my main cash ML which I lead for a long while.

The team for next GW is:

    Sels
    TAA* - Gabriel - Huijsen
    Kluivert - Palmer - Salah - Mbuemo
    Wissa - Gakpo - Isak
    _______________________________
    Fabianski: Rogers: Aina: Lewis

(All other chips intact apart from AM)

To be fair, I have taken a -8 in conjunction with AM on Moyes this GW, but to sell wood for Gakpo is very disheartening.

Not sure where I’m going with this, suppose just any opinion on where I can realistically expect to finish with this in such a turbulent season.

I’m pretty much only wanna finish inside top 100k to save some dignity haha!

Apologies for the rant. Cheers guys.

A Gakpo goal and assist vs Everton and he matches wood. Shame about the -8 hit, but don’t give up on the week until all games played.

Your team looks good moving forwards, decent bench etc. I’m similar rank and Top 100k is definitely doable.

      Chin up.

Appreciate it bud, that’s what I’ve been trying to tell myself with Gakpo, he can closely match Wood hopefully.
You can relate then having a similar rank, still many GW’s to build on I suppose, I’m sure top 100k is very doable as well, just getting a little worried at this stage haha!

Try having fun with the game: don’t take things too serious. Having said that, you’re still within the 7th percentile and still a long way to go this season.

Same as what the others are saying. Strong team. Just wait for the DGW before making any more moves.

You're very lucky to be in the running for a cash ML with a 750K OR. I'd be 17th in my work league with that score. Count your blessings in that regard!

      1. RICICLE
        • 3 Years
        1 year, 3 months ago

Cheers Camzy! I shall, I’ll wait until the dust has settled on the DGW and assess on the next one, I don’t need to do any moves really with this team right now.

I am indeed! A lot of us have found it tough this season in main ML, have tumbled though from around 150k > 750k, along with others, so we were all higher about 4/5 GW’s ago but have all tumbled together, mainly everyone has a similar’ish team.
Didn’t help with 2nd & 3rd around me having palace and spurs defenders today, gotta laugh!

    6. Kingy109

The only real weak link in the team is Rico Lewis and Gakpo gets a 2nd double (maybe) next week to make up points
Theres a long way to go and lots of blanks, doubles and chips which give you further chances to catch up.

      1. RICICLE
        • 3 Years

Cheers Kingy, encouraging words appreciate it, definitely a lot to go yet in this.
Lewis will go on next WC I think now, really hoping Gakpo can turn up as he’s a huge differential in my ML.

Thanks mate! I do really like the team, just wish it performed better, but late getting back to the Mbuemo train and recently acquired Kluivert this GW, so just gotta sit tight now, make no moves. I know it should improve a lot, just very deflating of late.

This is great just Wait untill DW25 is comfirmed. My OR was 1,4m in GW20 and i’m currently 340K. You just need 2-3 good weeks to make it up.Gakpo isn’t bad pick one game to go and he can still double in GW25.

I wanted Mbeumo, that means ditching Wissa (three Brentford), but there are other concerns as well...

    Flekken / 4.0
Gabriel, Hall, TAA / Davis, Faes,
    Salah, Palmer, Gordon, Sarr, Rogers
    Isak, Wood, Wissa

Would this be a good move for next Gw?

Bruno + Gakpo --> Mateta + Mbembo for -4 and active AM on Slot.

    Team would become

    Sels
    Trent* Robinson Colwill
    Salah Mbembo Kluveit Rogers Palmer
    Mateta Wood

Bench: Fabinaski, Isak, Hall, Van de berg.

AM 25 - Slot vs Wolves & Villa*

Ange for Ipswich and table bonus Vs City might be an option as they might have more players back.

If you haven’t already played the chip, then don’t. It’ll work out much better over 4 gw later in the season. If you are set on playing the chip, I’d say go Villa game week 25 for Ipswich and Liverpool if they double but depends on whether or not you trust them to get a win/draw at home to Liverpool

It could be Arsenal and Chelsea if Arsenal can recover at Newcastle

It will definitely be either Liverpool and Villa or Spurs and Fulham depending on the result at Anfield.

The most likely outcome but far from guaranteed is just Liverpool and Villa double

The other fixture will be the regular GW25 fixturee eg Liverpool Vs Wolves.

Really want double Bournemouth mids (kluveit and one of Semenyo/dango)

But hard to sell Gordon and Amad before city and spurs

I think the way city and spurs defend is tailor made for those

If Liverpool get another double in 25 should I stick with Gakpo or move for Slot? Or it’s opportunity missed for Slot this time and wait to play it further down the line?

    1. The Big Fella
      • 9 Years

Depends if they’re home matches or away ones. I was really concerned about these matches both being away but went with Gakpo anyway. I will have to wait and see the Everton result but I think with hindsight I should have perhaps listened to my gut.

      Have to stick with Gakpo

The downside for slot is u can't have the extra pool player and having already missed slot's points this week u have to risk it

At least that's what I'm doing with Allison

Assuming LIV/AVL double and Watkins is fit, is the Gakpo replacement likely to be Watkins?

      So Gakpo + Emery + 1FT v Watkins + Slot?

    An interesting GW so far.
The Assman chip has yet to distort the points so far as salah got more points and the Trip Captain chip would have been used in many cases.
The Everton Pool game will see the biggest points variance. If Everton keep a clean sheet (Unlikely) the Moyes chip should win the day.
Who knows the proportion of chip usage so far? Assman can be worked out but the TC not yet.

If Everton can get a draw then it will be a good result for Moyes AMers because he’ll get the league position bonus and either a goal or clean sheet bonus plus points for the draw. The Liverpool derby at Goodison is always a cagey affair so we shall see.

Yep but it remains that anything can be gained playing Pool. The big thing is Moyes coming of a 3 winning run and the last derby at Goodison. I am hoping on hope.

i think so far Salah TCers are the real winners followed by Moyes AMers (moyes goes way ahead if everton get a result vs pool)

Slot AM the worst by a clear distance. Not only are u missing out on Salah TC but also extra pool player making it slot vs Allsion/Gakpo in most cases so the already limited ceiling is limited even more. Not that case with Moyes AM

It can't be measured mate. Stop trying.
Every path started a chain reaction. What would've been a 50-50 in GW25,...29, 30....33...., it'll be a 80-20 because of the decision you made this GW.

Extra Liverpool player is not guaranteed a fixture in GW29 and he's not outscoring the extra Everton player as it stands.
        Pickford - 9
        Alisson - 9

        Myko - 6
        VvD - 5

        Ndiaye - 8
        Gakpo - 5

        Salah(TC) - 16
        Moyes - 12
        Slot - 10

No victory laps for anyone as it stands.

going by that logic almost anything u do cant be judged cuz it might work in future.

we all judge things on how much instant impact it brings cuz over long term u can always

i think Slot AMers are going out of their way to justify somethings that clearly is coming short " so far". Youre comparing extra pool player with extra everton player but thats clearly incomparable when u can have both. weird logic

happy to admit Moyes AM could easily outdo my TC but there is almost no way Slot does if im tripled up on pool anyway with Allison

          1. Nightcrawler
            • 6 Years

and nobody wants triple Everton AND Moyes but people would want triple Pool and slot so the comparison is flawed anyway

of course AM slot could suit ur team more the way its set up but this is merely a comparison in isolation where slot AM is 3rd atm

              • 12 Years

              In isolation:

              AM 24-26(5 games) + TC in 33 or 36
              vs
              AM 31-33 or 36-38(4 games) + Salah(TC) in 24

This was the decision for most.
It involves 7 games for the first option and 6 games for the second one. If you want to take a victory lap after one game, go ahead.

an extra game isnt everything. TC is extremely hard to get right especially if Salah doesn't have dgw later on in the season

like i said Moyes AM could work wonders and keep mentioning "so far" so not sure where i've claimed final victory anyway. not looking as good for Slot though but if u want to take a victory lap based on the extra game go ahead

Salah TC clear winners. Moyes AMers still have a transfer booked in to swap Moyes to a DGW manager, so that sort of decreases the benefit by 4 points.

There are a few ways of looking at it, but there are some fundamental ideas missing from you comment. 3 pool rather than 2 if you have slot. Every transfer is 4 points really and saving the transfers is not always a good idea.

If Liverpool and Villa double it’s quite awkward for those with 3 Liverpool to load up on Villa with a blank in 29 for both of them. Would rather not FH in 29

        They have literally have:
        - one good cheap enabler who can score.
        - one overpriced CF who is miles away from last years form
        - bunch of players ready to disappoint
        - back line which can’t be trusted

If you want to overcommit to Villa & keep all your LIV/NEW players next week, have you considered WC26/7? I think it looks increasingly viable to play it then rather than wait for 30 especially with these cup final doubles now coming in 25 rather than 33. Seems a fine time to dump/thin out LIV/NEW/AVL & get on the City fixture swing slightly early (I think those waiting til 30 might take a hammering in GW29)

      - Ignore defence
      - Rogers (some teams will already have him)
      - Isak (likely blanking in 29) to Watkins (sell to another FWD before BGW29)
      - Moyes to Emery

TC Salah an extra 16 points and counting
