Just turned on the cricket and the cameraman focuses on a banner with "congrats to Philosopher's stones for his 80 points and Sarr off the bench" in the crowd. A little smile on my face, I turn my attention towards the game. Stay humble.

You could just play Greaves or get a City defender for 29-30 if WC31.

    Glasner:

"Mateta is conscious in the hospital. His ear looks terrible obviously. We hope the best for him... We're not really happy today, of course great to go to quarter finals... I'm sure the goalkeeper didn't want to injure him. I don't want to blame him but it's terrible."

End of his run at CF, assuming Evanilson gets through ok. Hard to say whether he'll play one of wide roles - Kluivert rested so not necessarily the exact lineup you'd expect next GW

It was clear immediately that the challenge on Mateta was one of the worst you could ever see. I really really hope JP is okay and the result is almost secondary to that, but I really think it is disgraceful that Michael Oliver, regularly referred to as “the best referee in the land”, has somehow managed to 1. not see the challenge when stood next to it and 2. not stop the game immediately when JP was lying nearly unconscious on the ground. There should be serious scrutiny and inquiry into his management of the situation and his competence/awareness. I’m furious with him.

Scumwall is out of the way.

I hope everyone understands that our Rivals our Brighton, and Millwall is just hatred of the foul mouth "Let him die crew". Knugglesdraggers.

I went to Sussex Uni (where their new ground is now), and 30 years ago, was playing football for the 1st team. Mainly 2nds, and in the 3rd year (we had 5 teams based on ability), we had such good camaraderie that we set up a 3rd team, when it was all of the people in their third and final year at University. Half of the 1/2nd team played for the cricket team in the final term (we lost to Durham - well thumped, as it is always a Durham-Loughborough final). I a always alright as the landlord in the Cherries for the last 20 years (next to Norwood Junction i have known for 30 years, but has left, and gave the new owner after Covid, a few names to the security staff for Brighton games, same applies today, a pub to go to so you don't get caught up in anything.

It still gets heated before and after the game,a nd train startions are always closed for an hour, but it will be until 4pm today. (as norwaood junction, Thornton Heath and Selhurst are all within 15 minutes from the ground. The only people who moan getting ther atre the BBC, / Sky (sometimes), when they have to drive there as the traffic is alays horrendous.

It’s funny seeing people react to Milwall for the first time when anyone who even remotely follows football knows they’re the biggest scummiest fanbase in the country.

I remember a few years ago when they were hissing at Spurs fans and doing DVD chants at Son, and there was a huge uproar about it despite it being the most predictable thing ever.

yes. I am an oldie. My dad remembers the Good Friday game in the 60s. 37,000. The biggest crowd for a 4th division game. They were scum then. And our main rival. But Millwall's rivals are always West Hame East end docks North and south of the river.

Never went to cold harbour lane, I was never allowed to go 🙂

This is the worst ever GK "hit". I was 10 so the t=first World cup i can remember.

I’m a Millwall fan. I accept that the fans can be absolute weapons, but not all of us are. Calling us ‘scum’ is excessive and generalistic. We have to remember that the idiots in our fanbase feed off this hatred. Some of us - and the club - have tried to lose this reputation, but the chants today don’t help us. Palace fans also chanted ‘let him die’ when Camiel Neghli was injured. I guess this was a reaction to our idiots, but it doesn’t make it right.

I guess what I’m trying to say so that not all of us are ‘scum’, and agree that what happened today was horrid.

Fair play. I am friends with one Millwall fan, and he couldn't go anymore, but this was over 10 years ago, as the core will never go away.

I know individuals are different, but as a core group, all my life. They have been horrid. Have seen them for years, but today hasn't changed my mind.

Camiel Neghli had a horrible twist on his ankle (ligaments?), and you are right; it was a small number and a reaction.
It used to be a common song 20 years ago, but it was usually sung in jest when it is obviously time-wasting, or Salah used to fall over a lot when he first arrived, and Ashley Young has always done it, all his career; it is in his DNA.

You can change your reputation long-term, but it's never happened. Leeds are much better than they were 20 years ago, for example..

    Oliver Glasner [RE: Mateta]:

‘He’s at hospital now and has a serious ear injury, but fingers are crossed that it's not too serious.

‘I think he will definitely miss the Ipswich game, but I still hope that he's available for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at the end of March, so four weeks' time.

'Of course, we all wish him the best.’
