Gameweek 33 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) will, as expected, be a ‘double’.

Four teams will play twice in this round of matches, with the following fixtures added to the 10 already in place:

  • Manchester City v Aston Villa (originally in Gameweek 34, which clashes with the semi-finals of the FA Cup)
  • Arsenal v Crystal Palace (originally in Gameweek 34, which clashes with the semi-finals of the FA Cup)

The other key takeaway from Thursday’s fixture announcement is that Nottingham Forest v Brentford will stay in Gameweek 34, by moving to the midweek after it.

Forest and Brentford will now not blank in Gameweek 34 as a result.

GAMEWEEK 33: THE DOUBLES

  • Arsenal: ips + CRY
  • Aston Villa: NEW + mci
  • Crystal Palace: BOU + ars
  • Manchester City: eve + AVL

Arsenal’s double is the pick of the bunch, at least on paper.

Ipswich Town earned their first Premier League win of 2025 on Wednesday, but performances over the season have been poor, and they currently sit in the relegation zone, nine points from safety. A home clash against Crystal Palace follows.

It could be an idea to Triple Captain Bukayo Saka (£10.3m), then, who took just seven minutes of his comeback appearance on Tuesday to get back on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Oliver Glasner’s side now have a unique schedule, with back-to-back ‘doubles’ in Gameweeks 32 and 33, followed by a Blank Gameweek 34. A perfect opportunity, you’d think, for those FPL managers who still have the Assistant Manager chip burning a hole in their pockets.

For Manchester City and Aston Villa, who are both in the race for Champions League qualification, it’s a potentially tricky set of ‘doubles’, with clashes against Everton and Newcastle United respectively preceding their Etihad showdown.

This extra fixture in Gameweek 33 only adds to the congestion for Unai Emery’s side, too:

  • Saturday 5 April: Nottingham Forest (h) – Gameweek 31
  • Wednesday 9 April: Paris Saint-Germain (a) – Champions League quarter-finals
  • Saturday 12 April: Southampton (a) – Gameweek 32
  • Tuesday 15 April: Paris Saint-Germain (h) – Champions League quarter-finals
  • Saturday 19 April: Newcastle United (h) – Gameweek 33
  • Tuesday 22 April: Manchester City (a) – Gameweek 33
  • Saturday 26/Sunday 27 April: Crystal Palace (n) – FA Cup semi-finals

We’ll have more reaction to the Double Gameweek 33 announcement in the coming days.

Good info here to suggest DGW36 and BGW37 is likely to happen

GW36 tv schedule is out - no Monday night game suggests that we’re likely to have DGW36 and BGW37 for the FA Cup finalists (and their PL opponents)

Yep it makes sense as well.

It would be fairer if everyone had a whole week's rest prior to the final game of the season rather than cram another game into GW37.

It also would make sense to move both the finalists rather than just one so it's fairer for the final itself with equal rest days.

I'm happy as a result for going Williams. If they make the final, I'd have at least one doubler in 36 lined up.

There's a Championship play off match on the Monday night, so was always unlikely MNF would be scheduled to clash. Doesn't change too much imo.

I actually think this Gabriel replacement is interesting. It weakens the defense, but also opens a door for another attacker. As a Raya and Saka owner, I think I want to wait to replace him until closer to DGW33.

It could be that by GW33, we'll want Martinelli or Merino as our 3rd Arsenal and to lock in Saliba now might not be the best thing to do. Will wait and rely on my strong bench. Gvardiol vs mun is my first defensive sub and he'll do fine for this week.

Saliba will be most nailed option still
Front line can be massively rotated especially with Saka back Nwaneri playing well martinelli Tross Merino

Martinelli was MotM. If he keeps up this form he will lock down that position and have explosive returns along with it. Do you really want to lock yourself out of that option by going Gabriel > Saliba now?

Can afford Gabriel 0.1 drop so will bench this week, hopefully save ft & reassess after w/end. Certainly not rushing into an Arsenal replacement defender. My other 4 def look ok at mo. Think Munoz was pulled for fatigue last night.

I got in at 6 now at 6.4 so a 0.1m drop is a true 0.1 drop for me if I wait. Plus funds (most likely Dunk 4.2) will come in handy for a Mid or Fwd upgrade.

I actually think funds don't matter. The only two premiums we want are Salah and Saka. Palmer is off the boil and doesn't fit within a FH34 plan.

1 is the safe bet, 2 is the high ceiling bet.

Glasner will have 4 matches with table bonus in DGW32 and DGW33. It can be zero, but the prospect of getting the max ~80 points is just crazy...

Quite like Kiwior 4.8m cheap entry into Arsenal defence. Being left footed gives him an advantage to play LCB. It will depend on Ben White injury update but seems to have a setback to his knee injury

    Hendo
    Munoz Van Hecke O'Shea
    Salah Palmer Mitoma Rogers
    Isak* Wood* Marmoush

    Fabianski Kluivert* TAA* Gabriel*

    a) WC now, maximise BB, struggle in WK34, AM with WK35 or WK36
    b) AM now, try to navigate through injuries, WC34, BB some point 35-38

    BB32 v BB33 looks quite close.

33 gives you more doubles but 32’s fixtures are better.

      Sels v EVE
      Cucurella v IPS
      Munoz in DGW
      Rogers v Saints

      or:

      Sels v spu
      Livra v ast
      Cucurella v ful
      Murphy v ast

Anyone else struggling to decide between BB32 v BB33? (TC and FH available)

    - which players on BB32/33 is useful with 36/37 in mind?
    - if you have TC left, it's Isak 32 v Saka/Marmoush 33 - only a big factor if Isak is out

        Wilson is available.

Gordon stats as a CF doesn't feel great for TC.

TC could be played in 36 so probably shouldn't put too much thoughts on the chip.

Probably more on how the team is setup beyond 32/33 is the important factor

      - Wood vs LEI + whu
      - Marmoush/Haaland vs sou + BOU
      - Villa attacker (Rogers/Watkins/Asensio/Rashford) vs bou + TOT.

My BB is looking like the below, so i'm going with 32.

      32:
      Sels v EVE
      Cucurella v IPS
      Munoz in DGW
      Rogers v Saints

      or 33:
      Sels v spu
      Livra v ast
      Cucurella v ful
      Murphy v ast

Why would Munoz (DGW) be part of your BB22 when only 2 teams are doubling so 6 players in total?

It's a tough set of away games where i don't expect a CS in either.

You can call it VVD v WHU if you'd prefer though. Still better than Livra at Villa.

Sarr or Mateta out for Glasner?

Means that either I'll have a forward slot to rotate for the DGW's or a Midfield slot.

    In essence it's also:

    Sarr/Rogers/Ascencio/Rashford
    vs
    Matata/Watkins

Will stick with Munoz, becaue need to ditch Gabriel and there isn't 2 defenders I want.

Initial plan was AM 31-33 - but with 3 x Palace and 3 x Newcastle along with Foden and Gabriel* to sort out, I think it's now best to wait until later and build towards BB in 33 instead.

    Any thoughts?

    1. Tonyawesome69

AM chip has the highest ceiling so I would priorities this over BB especially with B2B doubles and table bonus

I don't have the AM chip left so I haven't thought about it.

Like I said it's a powerful chip in the game and worth the transfers to change manager (if you need to) to target the upside.

Looks like the boring but sensible switch from Gabriel to Saliba is inevitable now. A shame but at least it keeps the plan together for the cost of a transfer.

Now if Isak is also out I may have to rethink my BB32 plans.

I think it's not so simple actually if you have Raya in goal and Saka already. It might be worth keeping hold of that decision until GW33 where you might want a 2nd Arsenal attacker.

True but for me I'm BB32 so I need to replace him with someone by then, and I'll have only 2 transfers to do the Watkins/Saka move in 33, so sadly I have less flexibility.

Gordon is yet to resume full training for Newcastle after picking up a thigh injury while playing for England against Albania earlier this month.
Still, Howe has confirmed Newcastle hope Gordon will return to full training in the reasonably imminent future.
“Anthony has a really nasty bruise in and around his thigh/groin area,” he said.
“He’s up and running, feeling quite good.
“We haven’t seen him train with the group yet. We anticipate he will do that in the next few days, hopefully.”

I'm leaning towards BB32 and TC33 now. At least with TC33 options can be left open with a late call made on who to give the armband to (Marmoush, Saka, Mateta (if he finds form) etc). TC32 only has Isak as the main option and there are concerns over his fitness. Gordon isn't back yet and Mateta seems to be struggling.

GW34: Make do as can’t free hit due to AM
