Four clubs have a Double Gameweek 33 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) – Arsenal, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Manchester City.

In this Scouting the Doubles, we take a closer look at Pep Guardiola’s side.

City went into this season as four-in-a-row Premier League champions, but for various reasons, it’s proved a difficult campaign.

Despite that, City are still battling to make it into the top five and thereby reach the UEFA Champions League, ensuring motivation shouldn’t be an issue during the run-in.

THE FIXTURES

With a top-five finish set to clinch qualification for next season’s Champions League, Tuesday’s home clash with Aston Villa is crucial, given that Unai Emery’s side currently sit just one point behind City in seventh.

A trip to Goodison Park precedes it, a fixture which will pose different questions for Guardiola’s side.

It certainly isn’t a straightforward ‘double’, given Villa and Everton’s form.

Above image from SoccerSTATS

That said, City do have one of the better post-Gameweek 34 runs, facing none of the current top seven teams in their final four fixtures.

It therefore lifts the appeal of their players, particularly if you plan to use the Free Hit chip in the upcoming ‘blank’.

ROTATION RISK?

Guardiola has a reputation for tinkering with his starting XI.

Now more than ever, his teamsheets are incredibly hard to predict, so of course, the Spaniard is capable of making surprise selection calls, especially in periods of fixture congestion.

Looking at the upcoming schedule for City, we could see possible rotation ahead of the FA Cup semi-final.

You’d think qualifying for next season’s Champions League will remain the priority, however.

  • Saturday 19 April: Everton (a), Gameweek 33
  • Tuesday 22 April: Aston Villa (h), Gameweek 33
  • Sunday 26 April: Nottingham Forest (n), FA Cup
  • Friday 2 May: Wolverhampton Wanderers (h), Gameweek 34

“The most important thing is this club plays Champions League next season and hopefully we can bring that.” – Kevin De Bruyne

“SOME SPIRIT IS BACK”

City aren’t quite there yet, but they did superbly to come back from 2-0 down to triumph over Crystal Palace in Gameweek 32.

Prior to that, there were back-to-back clean sheets against Manchester United and Leicester City.

The defence still looks a bit wobbly, but generally, the underlying numbers are decent enough.

Hmm, I've got Savinho but the 2 benchings have spooked me somewhat. I think I'll wait and see if there's any early team news and switch to KDB for a -4 depending on who starts. If they both start then maybe it's a hold

Other than the template 2, unless you have Foden you're probably priced out of King Kev.

I prefer Saka and Salah this week, over KDB.

I also prefer Saka captain over Marmoush.

Tonight is TC night anyway, hopefully a great game with goals flying in at St James' Park.

Which transfer is the best for game week 33 double?

    A) KDB + Murphy
    B) KDB + Sarr for a -4
    C) KDB + Eze + Bradley for a -8
    D) KDB + Eze + Kiwior for a -8

In terms of giving player updates in pressers, he is generally good with that information and can be trusted from that POV.

We know Pep likes to change setup depending on opponent.

Re - draft of an earlier post.

Which option is the best for the gwk 33 double? I'm bench boosting in 33.

    A) Bruno > KDB
    B) Bruno + Murphy > KDB + Sarr for a -4
    C) Bruno + Murphy + Kerkez > KDB + Eze + Kiwior -8
    D) Bruno + Murphy + Kerkez > KDB + Eze + Konsa for a -8

I'd avoid a minus 8 except if a player is out.

      So B.

Albeit, you can make an exception for Kerkez with the fixtures turning to a dgw Saliba.

      So F!

      Or C.

Best option from the below with 3FT? Will be using FH in GW34. No longer have BB. Would like to save as many transfers for GW36/37 as possible so unsure if it's worth bringing Kiwior in or just saving that third FT for future gameweeks?

    Raya
    Gvardiol - Munoz - Livra
    Salah - Eze - Sarr - Murphy
    Isak - Marmoush - Evanilson

    GK - Kerkez - Foden - Gabriel

    A) Gabriel, Murphy & Foden > Kiwior, Saka & KDB
    B) Gabriel, Murphy & Foden > Kiwior, Rogers & KDB
    C) Murphy & Foden > Saka & KDB (save 1FT, play Livra / Kerkez)
    D) Murphy & Foden > Rogers & KDB (save 1FT, play Livra / Kerkez)

The Semi Finals are after blank gw34 for Arsenal so that's not the issue.

It would be fatigue from tonight, but if there's no extra time I'm fairly confident that Saka can start both games for say 65 mins.

      1. Tonyawesome69
        • 6 Years

It should tell you which GW your ML will start

        Example:
The Cup is scheduled to start in GW34

Fixtures will be determined at the end of Gameweek 33. If there are 32 teams in the associated league, then each team will have an opponent in Gameweek 34. If there are between 17 and 31 teams in the league, some teams will receive a bye in Gameweek 34 based on their score in Gameweek 33.

I think I'm giving a bit more consideration for Rashford over Rogers this GW. My main issue is his mins beyond DGW33 which may decrease if Watkins is the favoured CF again.

Watkins is fit and ready to start games. He has fully recovered from the knee injury.

      Rashford:
      Lower EO
      xMins around 60-65
      First choice CF/ OOP mid
      Pens and set pieces

      Rogers:
      Higher EO
      xMins 80-90 mins

I've been thinking about it as well. But I don't think I'm gonna do it. It's the mins that sway me away. 66 mins for Rashy every week assuming he starts (which he might not) isn't going to compare to Rogers.

It's not like Rogers isn't attacking either. If he was like playing CM or something more defensive then I could maybe stomach it but he's playing CAM and is fairly involved.

Savinho probably a hold for me (other priorities), can get to Saliba if I sell Tripper > Bradley (-4), so maybe go for the dull switch of Palmer, Murphy, Gabriel > Saka, Rogers, Kiwior? Would be BBing Martinez, Isak, Trippier and AWB.

Just tinkering with the team ahead of the games tonight.

Thoughts on Kerkez, Bruno, Murphy to Konsa, KDB, Trossard for -4?

I feel like the moves make sense, however it would involve benching Isak. I'm not sure taking a hit to bench Isak, even though he is a SGW player this week, makes enough sense.

Wouldn’t want Trossard, think he only starts 1 of 2

-8 to max out on 108.9 TV for BB will hopefully give an advantage

Rashford (NEW, mci) or Bowen (SOT), also own Watkins but not convinced of him starting

Rashford and Watkins together isn't the worst combo in a DGW. You should have at least one on the pitch at all times.

I'd chose Rashford with the extra game potential

      Rank these options this week:

      A) Merino
      B) Saka
      C) KDB
      D) Rogers
      E) Rashford
      F) Assensio

Or, who makes your top 3?
