The team news for Gameweek 34 is beginning to filter through as the pre-match press conferences get underway.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, Graham Potter, Marco Silva, Kieran McKenna and Simon Rusk faced the media on Thursday, with the headline team news from these pressers in the article below.

Of the 11 other teams who have a Premier League fixture in Gameweek 34, we’ll get updates from 10 of them on Friday.

The odd man out is Thomas Frank, whose Brentford side doesn’t play next until next Thursday. He’ll fulfil his media commitments long after Saturday’s deadline has passed, sometime next midweek.

GAMEWEEK 34: THURSDAY’S KEY TEAM NEWS UPDATES

GAMEWEEK 34: THURSDAY’S PRESS CONFERENCE TIMES

Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna was a late addition to the above list at 1.30pm BST

FULHAM

It’s good news for Raul Jimenez owners: Rodrigo Muniz (unknown injury) looks set to miss out again this weekend, having sat out the Gameweek 33 defeat to Chelsea.

“Probably, we’re almost sure, that Rodrigo is going to be, unfortunately, out for the next game. Let’s see after that but even for straight away after it’s going to be very difficult to have him back. Unfortunately for us, he’s a big miss.” – Marco Silva on Rodrigo Muniz

Someone else who was unavailable last Sunday, Emile Smith Rowe (back), has trained this week, however.

“Emile Smith Rowe is working with the team throughout the week so far. We have another session tomorrow and after we are going to take a decision. Looks like he’s going to be in contention for the game.” – Marco Silva

Reiss Nelson (hamstring) is still sidelined.

Given that Marco Silva mentioned Ryan Sessegnon‘s name when discussing his right-wing options, we’re assuming that the ‘out of position’ defender is fine after there were suggestions of him picking up a knock in Gameweek 33.

“Both situations could happen, to be honest. Ryan Sessegnon is doing very well, on the left, on the right, he is helping the team in a very good way. He took his chance definitely with goals, with assists and all that stuff. Harry, as you know, is always a threat and we can use him from the start, from the bench. I understand the question. He was a long period out of the games and the training sessions too but he’s in a good shape, needs game time definitely but is in a good shape. From the start, from the bench, I need to decide. He’s going to be definitely involved because we need his goals, we need his assists as well because he’s been very important for us.” – Marco Silva when asked if Harry Wilson will start or be on the bench this weekend

Silva’s answer to a follow-up team news question also suggests Sessegnon is absolutely fine.

“It’s just Rodrigo who is completely out of the game, unfortunately for us, plus Reiss Nelson. As you know, all the others until now, they are okay.” – Marco Silva

WEST HAM UNITED

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (toe) should be fit for the trip to Brighton and Hove Albion, having missed out against Southampton last weekend.

Edson Alvarez is likely to miss out with a back injury, however.

The Hammers also remain without Crysencio Summerville (hamstring) and Michail Antonio (leg).

“Edson Álvarez is still out with a back [problem]. He’s just going to probably miss the game. [We’re] hopeful [for] next week.

“Long-term absentees will still be there. Aaron Wan-Bissaka should be back, should be available for the squad.” – Graham Potter

Evan Ferguson, who is on loan from Brighton, is ineligible to face his parent club.

LEICESTER CITY

The big news coming out of the Leicester camp on Thursday was the announcement that Jamie Vardy is to leave the club at the end of 2024/25.

Team news-wise, we didn’t get any fresh updates in the broadcast section of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s presser.

However, the Leicester Mercury has reported new quotes from the Leicester boss.

Stephy Mavididi, the Foxes’ main danger man in recent weeks, may be out for the season with a muscle problem.

“Stephy Mavididi, he came off with a muscle injury so he won’t be part of Saturday’s game and probably not for the coming weeks, so that’s a blow because he’s been playing really well.

“Doubtful [whether he’ll feature again this season].” – Ruud van Nistelrooy, quoted by the Leicester Mercury

Kasey McAteer, who unexpectedly missed out on the matchday squad in Gameweek 33, could return, at least.

“Kasey McAteer, on the other hand, came back into team training and hopefully can make it into Saturday’s game.” – Ruud van Nistelrooy, quoted by the Leicester Mercury

The only other player definitely on the sidelines is long-term absentee Abdul Fatawu (knee).

IPSWICH TOWN

Leif Davis begins a three-match ban after his dismissal for serious foul play last weekend.

Kieran McKenna meanwhile confirmed that Conor Townsend (hamstring), Kalvin Phillips (Achilles) and Nathan Broadhead (thigh) remain out.

Aro Muric (shoulder), Wes Burns (knee), Chiedozie Ogbene (Achilles), Sammie Szmodics (ankle) and Jaden Philogene (knee) are also sidelined.

Omari Hutchinson (hamstring) wasn’t mentioned by his manager, who has been known to be slippery with team news in the past – so there is the possibility that we’ll see the attacking midfielder on Tyneside.

Liam Delap meanwhile continues to nurse a rib issue and McKenna says it’ll be a “late decision” as to the striker’s involvement.

“I don’t think it’s where Liam’s focus is. His focus is on trying to get back to full health and get ready for Newcastle.” – Kieran McKenna on speculation over Liam Delap’s future, via Suffolk News

“We’re in a challenging spot in terms of availability, to be honest. I’m not going to go through every single one because I’ll probably be naming the fit players that we have left to Newcastle. But we’re in a really difficult spot in terms of availability.

“We’re still going to be waiting on a few right until tomorrow and we’ll try and make the right decisions. Hopefully, we’ll have enough to be competitive.” – Kieran McKenna, via EADT

With Davis and Townsend out, McKenna has to choose between Jacob Greaves or rookie Somto Boniface at left-back/wing-back.

“You always want to give those opportunities when they’re there and when they’re earned, so it was nice, in one way, to have Somto on the bench last weekend.

“You don’t want to see any of the senior players miss out though and it’s still important to respect the fact that every Premier League appearance is important to these group of players. It would be unfair or inappropriate, I think, to give out appearances without them having been earned.

“But Somto’s a very good young player. Of course, he’s not been with us at the football club for too long, but he’s made a really good impression, fitted into that group well done and trained well.” – Kieran McKenna, via EADT

SOUTHAMPTON

Simon Rusk says the Saints have no fresh concerns for this weekend.

“No major concerns from last week. A few knocks and niggles, normal stuff, moving into this game. We’ve got a clean bill of health overall. Again, as I had last week, I’ve got a few decisions to make about what the starting line-up could look like and equally the bench. Good problems to have.” – Simon Rusk

While the interim Southampton boss declared that his side has a clean bill of health, that may not include Albert Gronbaek (Achilles). Rusk said last week that the loanee was yet to train with the club, having been out for the whole of April.

Charlie Taylor (hip) hasn’t been in a matchday squad for over two months.

Thanks, that's 2-0 to those picks. I was on Wood and Bowen as fancied Bowen against a leaky Brighton. But Palmer definitely has a higher ceiling so I see the logic

Palmer is trying my patience but I had Bowen for a run earlier in the season and West Ham are so devoid of attacking intent, they're painful to watch. That one feels the closest of the two, so take your pick!

Wood just generally doesn't appeal. Forest defend so much that he gets very limited chances, and doesn't create any himself. Whereas Fulham will go for it vs Saints.

Underrated: Kepa, Kerkez, Murphy, Bowen, Welbeck

I much prefer Bournemouth defense to Fulham this week. Southampton have screwed so many clean sheets this season and Fulham have also kept extremely few CSs. United offense has 1 goal in the last 4 games.

I expect Brighton - West Ham to be high scoring. Bowen, Mitoma, Minteh, Welbeck all are decent picks if you're looking for a differential.

How are those who AM'd Glasner from 31-33 feeling?

I did and think it was ok: 25 point return (for £0.8) and I was able to triple up on Newcastle in my gw30 wildcard (Howe AMers could not) while avoiding being stuck with triple Palace, and I had triple Liverpool for the gw24 double (which Slot AMers couldn't) and a mega triple captain on Salah (which Slot AMers also couldn't do). All in all, i think that's ALRIGHT.

Any with thoughts on this and maximising the chip, please step forward NOW.

Did the same and not overly happy with my decision. If this chip is around next season, it's likely I'll pick a manager from a top-3 team with a good run of fixtures. I wouldn't mind this chip being shortened to 2 GWs

        I got 51 on AM GW31-33
        Howe 11 GW31
        Howe 23 GW32
        Arteta 17 GW33

5 games 51pts. Obvs ceiling is higher with TB managers but when i was looking at it thought id more likely get more points with these managers than glasner etc. Been a good source of pts vs those benchboosting/TC in same period. Mixed feelings on whether its a good chip addition or not despite doing ok out of it.

I got 48 with Slot, Slot, Glasner from GW24-26 so 25 points would be a pretty big disappointment.

Others that went Howe, Howe, Arteta got 51 points in the same period of GW31-33.

yes best time to play it (bt TC Haaland).

I think the Glasner V Howe thing, means unless you went without Isak (very unlikely), you missed out on Murphy and Livra points.

          I went Frank 10, Glasners 2+17

But i got Murphy points GW31+32 and Livra

20+13 without Howe I dont know if people had Murphy or Livramento with Howe.

          Its all relative, i guess.

I should have played it GW24 But i still got 27 points. Palace should have beaten City but didn't, fell apart instead.

      Went with Frank then Glasner

Brentford very unlucky not to beat Chelsea but the game was so dull until Brentford had a bit of life in the last 15 minutes.

Howe was the pick GW32 but i had triple Newcastle for those games. Glasner was going so well 25 minutes into the City game. Was thinking this maybe a 25 POINTER RIGHT THERE , before Kamada went stupid.

Glasner was unlucky against Arsenal overall, but lucky to get the point.

I guess Man City then Newcastle away games are not easy in a week.

I would have gone Moyes Emery Glasner route but had too many hits to take due to the late rearrangements.

      and already had triple Liverpool,

Everton last minute equaliser was lucky too.

I think withthe FA Cup stupidly IMO, not being the last game of the season anymore.

BB and TC and perhaps AM could be played twice a season if you are going to have them

Still i will take the Livramento and Murphy points.

Don't think i missed out too much there.

I like the chip, just not the late implementation.

    4. Boberella
      • 9 Years

It was a fail in terms of points over the 5 games for Glasner AM when people made the good call switching AMs over the 3GWs for up around 50.

My plan was always to stick to the same AM for the 3GWs, and I look at my decision as this:
      Glasner + Pope (48pts)
      Howe + Sarr (46pts)

So 2 pts better off makes me feel better about it.

Will do it different next year, but the table bonus potential and 5 games for Glasner was too tempting and had the highest ceiling. Could have easy been 60+ on another day.

Think this is enough to put me off starting Sessegnon. Too many other good defender options this week to risk a benching.

Silva on Wilson: "We could use him from the start or bench. Sess is playing well. I need to decide, but Harry will be involved."

    Sa
    Ran, Sess, Schar
    Salah, Diaz, Barnes, #Iwobi
    Isak, Welbz, Cunha

    Sels, Mbeumo, Milenkovic, Virgil

I am attacking that Newcastle fixture against Ipswich. Newcastle need top 5 and it is tight. I am also chasing so will captain Isak. I think Liverpool will already be on the beach. They know they will get 1 point between now and the end of the season.

Yep, I would think so. It's going to be an enormous game for them. It's against a respectable side, not a relegation contender. There's everything to play for.

Respectable might be on the generous side. They aren't that unlucky to be 16th and that defence is bottom 8 whichever way you dress it up with the injuries.

I was going to cap Isak. But its not worth it IMO. Isak has niggling injury issues and Pool can win the title this weekend. Salah might go big. Its hard to picture Salah not getting a good return. I say that as a Spurs fan.

Part of me thinks that Spurs will actually turn up for that game, but I think that's me just being hopeful.

That's where my cap is at the moment, with Murphy vc.

I reckon Spurs will give them a game, but I think it'll be Pools day.

I am trying to decide if a -4 to field 10 this week is a good idea or not. Mateta, Marmoush and Munoz out, Cunha, RAN and Evanilson in. Giving me:

    Sels
    RAN, Livra, Konate
    Salah, Murphy, Bowen
    Cunha, Evanilson, Isak

Also considering Wood instead of either Cunha or Evanilson. Will FH in 36.

Thanks! I do not have the team yet - that is the team I would have if I took a -4. Alternatively, I could do 2 FHs and drop one of Cunha, RAN or Evanilson and just play 9

Sorry - not a Wolves follower. What difference would this make and why would Strand Larsen be a more attractive asset then? I could also skip the roulette and just bring in Wood but he is in my GW36 FH plans anyway

cunha could get benched as he just rotated in last game because bellegarde was apparently injured
I think I like 4-5 strikers more than wood whos seems boring but sometimes thats good

Is he out of favour because of his discipline issues? Who else is there ahead that should be considered as a striker? Wood, Evanilson, a Wolves forward, Isak.... hardly a great season for forwards this year. The action is in the midfield it seems.

he was suspended and larsen and bellegarde played together who then got injured so I assume it was his place to lose as they were doing well
I like larsen welbeck evanilson for this gameweek

Would you play Cucurella (EVE) or Semedo (LEI)? Already playing RAN so would be a potential Wolves double up in defence

    Isak, Jiminez, Strand Larsen

    Bench: Sanchez, Palmer, Kluivert, Murillo

Most free hitters will probably pick cunha but unlikely capt in favour of fear of salah v spurs so might be a good move if u think he outscores salah and ur chasing.

I've been a little bit out of the loop recently due to other important life issues. Could anyone tell me if there are any more teams who could possibly have a dgw over these last few weeks of the season, so that I can deploy my TC and BB chips. Thanks in anticipation of any helpful replies..

You'll possibly get a dgw in 36, more likely if Villa and Man City win their semi final FA Cup games.

So TC then and BB when you have 15 players available etc.

      Leno
Cucurella - Ait Nouri - Sessegnon
      Murphy - Salah - Barnes - Diaz - Elanga
      Isak - Cunha

      Free Hit
Newcastle will definitely concede, but not sure which defender is most likely to get an assist or goal. Might move Barnes out for Trippier

      Isak, Cunha, Wood

OK I've reached desperate stage. This week's bench boost was a major flop. I now need to try and make up 70 points, and only have one mini league I'm interested in, so happy to go all in. ESPECIALLY this week on the Free Hit.

So - who are you excited about as differentials with POTENTIAL to explode? I'm willing to fill my entire team with differentials this week. Think I will captain Barnes, for a start.

        TAA
        Welbeck
        Jota (if he's passed fit)
        Neto
        Minteh
        Bowen
