Crystal Palace upset the bookmakers’ odds to reach the FA Cup final on Saturday.

The Eagles ran out deserved 3-0 winners over Aston Villa to set up a May 17 showdown with either Manchester City or Nottingham Forest.

City and Forest square off in the other semi-final on Sunday.

So, what does Palace’s win mean for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers?

DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 36 FOR PALACE + WOLVES – OR JUST A NORMAL GAMEWEEK 37?

First things first, the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers now can’t go ahead on the weekend of Gameweek 37. Palace are at Wembley then.

So, where does the ‘postponed’ fixture go?

To cut short the upcoming waffle: no one is sure yet.

That’s in stark contrast to if Aston Villa had reached the final, as they (and Tottenham Hotspur) would have almost certainly doubled in Gameweek 36 and blanked in Gameweek 37.

There are two options for Palace v Wolves. It could be:

a) pushed back to the midweek after Gameweek 37, meaning no blanks or doubles for either club; or
b) brought forward to the midweek after Gameweek 36, meaning a Double Gameweek 36 and Blank Gameweek 37 for both sides.

Legomane’s graphic below illustrates the two possibilities:

WHEN WILL WE FIND OUT?

It’s likely we’ll find out a new date for Palace v Wolves ahead of the Gameweek 35 deadline this Friday.

The Premier League schedulers will need to give both clubs, travelling fans, the police and others advance notice of the rearranged fixture.

Given how close Gameweeks 36 and 37 are already (ie the midweek after Gameweek 36 will only be 11/12 days away come this Friday), we can surely expect an announcement this week.

WHAT NOW FOR VILLA?

For Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, there should now be no more Blank/Double Gameweeks.

The twist in the tale could be Spurs’ appeal to get their Gameweek 37 fixture against Aston Villa moved forward. The Lilywhites may be in the UEFA Europa League final three days after this game, so clearly they’re eyeing up some extra preparation time.

Thursday 15 May is the supposed new date proposed – so it could fall in Gameweek 36 after all. However, the Villans are reportedly against the idea.

Villa were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League earlier this month, so the full focus is now on finishing in the top five of the Premier League and ensuring qualification to European football’s top table in 2025/26.

Here are both sides’ league run-ins:

No more cup involvement might make Unai Emery’s Premier League starting XIs slightly easier to second-guess, although the Villa boss has such a bloated squad at his disposal that you’re still probably going to get the weekly headaches in some positions.

The Crystal Palace game in GW37 is their last home game of the season.

Would they rather play that a few days before the Cup Final (meaning a DGW) or a few days after it (no DGW)?

After, to parade the trophy. Unfortunately they'll have no say in it.

Sold my three Palace players this week for a non-FH team but no regrets. They've tough games in 35 & 38 and cup final to think about inbetween.

I know lol. I just think 2 clubs like these in the FA Cup Final would be a beautiful thing. One would have to wear away kit unfortunately.

Praying City dont crash the romance.

Palace City would be more entertaining if you look at the historical games between the two

      Last 5 Forest Palace games have been 1-0, 1-1, 0-0, 1-1, 1-0

Cheers mate. Hopefully I can change my team name to 2025 DA Cup winners Mr Barnsley

The reason why 1861 might exist is even though Surrey FA , the last one let teams become professional in1905
The amateurs team never ceased to exist. We never played at home because the Crystal Palace company who owned us, never let us play there because of the Cricket Ground so we had to play away from 1875. Just like all wanderers clubs did. That's why they are called the wanderers. Including Bolton and Wolves. But as we were only allowed to play friendlies it hard to find documentation

The cricket team was London cricket Ground and WC Grace played but he did play for Palace. In London the posh people still played football in the winter to keep fit. Woolwich Arsenal moved to North London as Kent FA didn't allow professionalism until 1875

The last one was Villa away in 1875. But there are odd snippets .

In 1905, Crystal Palace F.C. played at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. This was the stadium where they held their home games until 1915 when they were forced to move due to the First World War. After the war, they moved to their current home at Selhurst Park in 1924.

But when we moved to the nest before Selhurst Park and that when Crystal Palace finally became independent from Crystal Palace Company who owned the park and wanted the money from FACup finals and cricket more than 5000 fans to watch football.

        I know you like history.

So if true and it does add up Crystal Palace was originally formed in 1861 but turned professional in 1905, making us the oldest club in the world still playing football

It was owned by the same company, the football team. But the games played and the amount of games is flaky for 40 years.

If true then Crystal Palace were amongst the original football teams to to invent the FACup

Most of the players in 1905 were from Newcastle and Sunderland reserves more so than "cockneys" lol

But Chelsea got the vote to play in the football league end division when it was formed over Crystal Palace

Cheers mate. Yes apart from Millwall. Brighton are our rivals Millwall are the enemy. But they always hate West Ham

North ex Dock workers v South ex Dock workers.

But my dad was there at a Good Friday game in the 4th division in 1960

37000. A division 4 record I don't think that will ever be broken. No one had anything else to do. But in the 50 and 60 Millwall and Palace played each other.

In 1976. Palace beat Brighton at Stamford Bridge in the FACup 2nd replay

Mullary and Venables hated each other and it all kicked off from there.

Funny 4 minutes video if your interested why the rivalry started and continues to this day. Brighton and Palace for the most part played in the same division

Was hoping on getting that double gameweek. 46 points behind in ML 22 point swing for me this week with 1 more extra pkayer to play then guy ahead (kluivert) 24 points needed on AM in 3 matches now it would seem with a more than likely 4 point hit so 29 points. Now thinking man city vs southampton wolves then table bonus the week after. Down to the final week of the season it seems

I know I like to have a very occasional moan once in a blue moon, but I have to say that the free hit 34 advice from scout this week has been absolutely top notch.

The picks have been spot on.

The targeting of opposition weaknesses has been spot on.

It's too little too late to salvage my season, but, because of the scout team, I scored a lot more points this week than I would have by myself.

That was a bit lucky wasn't it. An injury time goal.

If Robinson hadn't been injured, he would have played on the wing and been subbed early for Wilson, resulting in a two pointer.

Palace winning makes the Wolves assets more appealing. It's either a double in 36 vs Brighton(H) and a heavily rotated Palace(A), or a either drunk or heartbroken Palace in 37.

      Chelsea vs Pool next week.

Wolves aren't exactly clean sheet merchants so nouri was just fine so I thought. Still had 3 toon, 2 wolves. Chasing in 1 league but defending leads in 2 others. So felt double wolves was at the back may have been too risky in those leagues im defending. Still hopefull of bournemouth clean sheet against a man u with one eye on europa. Kluivert with a goal contribution would help massively

It’s been interesting though, I know now to always go with my second decision because that’s how I’ve played it this season.

I thought, yes Salah captain, but ooh I fancy a punt on Cunha, so I did that in other team.

So next season one team, gonna say no to my mate when he inevitably gives up by GW5 and asks me to take over but in my team gonna go second decision for everything, because it always seems to be the right one!

Of course I got lots of good luck that season, that is the main factor.

The main reason though was my hits paid off, and I take lots of them hence average at best ranks.

Find it more exciting taking hits, as opposed to chasing rank

Its not just players, it player combinations that are probably the biggest killers. There's no website which can tell you all this. But it things you subconsciously know throughout the season. NFO players probably hurt a lot of people for example. Investing in Man City players for too long probably hurt a lot of players.

I guess simply put it’s the highest owner scorers of points when I didn’t own them, but aggregated for every week in the season

Fireworks? We used to put falling snow on our website at Christmas where I used to work. It wasn't exactly the greatest example of computer graphics ever seen but people enjoyed it!
