FANTASY EFL PLAY-OFFS: GAMEWEEK 1 SUNDAY VII

Goalkeeper
To maximise outfield and utilise picks elsewhere, we’ve opted for Tommy Simkin (G) in goal. Ironically, the number one is the highest-scoring keeper of the remaining four clubs, keeping 14 shutouts and 69 saves, totalling 158 points. He’s kept two clean sheets in his previous three games, and has also regularly picked up save points throughout the season.
Defenders
Macauley Gillesphey (D) leads our defenders list as the highest scorer in the debut Fantasy EFL season. His remarkable consistency has made him a popular pick, featuring in 63% of teams. With defensive actions contributing to his impressive 7.8 points per game average, he’s delivered double-figure scores an impressive 18 times in 44 matches for Charlton Athletic.

Doubling up at the back, teammate Alex Mitchell (D) makes the cut. Although Lloyd Jones (D) is safer if he starts, going off the final game, Mitchell is in. He scored on his return from injury (+7), nailing a 14-pointer in 39. Averaging six points, he’s a clearances magnet, and offers a threat from set-pieces.
Finally, Ashley Palmer (D) has been a revelation in his 15 starts, amassing four goal involvements and six clean sheets, resulting in an impressive average of 6.7 points per game. Despite his sensational form, highlighted by 52 Fantasy points in his last five matches, the versatile 32-year-old is only in 6% of teams, making him a compelling pick for the home game against struggling Walsall.
Midfielders
In midfield, Walsall’s Taylor Allen (M) recorded ten goals (+60), nine assists (+27) and 36 interceptions (+72) this season, making him the fifth-highest scoring midfielder in Fantasy, despite playing a lot of the season in defence. On set-pieces, his ceiling is heightened. The 24-year-old took home the grand prize as he was voted the Supporters Player of the Season. He was also recognised by his teammates, winning the Players’ Player of the Season award. If anyone is to score, it’ll be him.

Partnering him, Cameron Humphreys (M) has been outstanding since joining on loan from Ipswich Town, scoring seven goals, nine assists and 13 interceptions, totalling 192 points. A vital cog in Mike Dodds’ attack, the 21-year-old was rested last time out and will be fresh against the solid Charlton back-line. Although quieter in recent weeks, if anyone can unlock the Addicks’ defence, the number 20 will play a crucial role.
Forward
Up top, Will Grigg (F) has 15 goal contributions in 30, scoring 123 points for Chesterfield this season. He’s bagged in his previous three matches, and is near nailed for minutes in Paul Cook’s side. Experience is key in knock-out football, and Grigg’s
Club Picks
Looking at the upside of away points, Charlton Athletic have won their previous two matches against the Addicks, including a 0-4 away sweep in Gameweek 37. They’ve won 16 of their previous 22 games, keeping eight shutouts during that run. Coupled with Wycombe’s poor form, a tight victory could be in store for Nathan Jones’ side.

Chesterfield, our second selection, looks like a very solid selection. The Spireites have been in fantastic form, losing only one of their last 13 matches. This makes them a particularly safe pick against a Walsall team that’s really struggling, having managed just one victory in their last 14 outings.
A maximum of 20 points is up for grabs if both sides haul.
