Following our look at £4.5m options, £5.0m-£5.5m picks and mid-priced contenders, let’s complete the analysis of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) forwards with those costing at least £7.5m.

In our position-by-position guides, we’ll analyse the main players fighting to make managers’ opening squads.

OVERVIEW

Which Newcastle assets to buy before Double Gameweek 32?

As you’d expect from premium assets, four of last season’s best seven forwards came from this price bracket. Alexander Isak (£10.5m) led the way on 211 points, a number beaten by three midfielders.

A couple of the others were hampered by injury, whereas Cody Gakpo (£7.5m) could’ve built upon 10 goals and five assists had he not been restricted by Liverpool rotation.

So the main disappointments were Nicolas Jackson (£6.5m) and Darwin Nunez (£6.5m). Chelsea’s frustrating forward had some good moments but ended up missing 21 big chances, while the Uruguayan only started eight times.

At the time of writing, there are 12 players now within this price range.

None look likely to leave the Premier League, despite the media’s determination to unsettle Isak. And while there are rumours constantly linking Yoane Wissa (£7.5m) with an exit, we’re talking domestic switches.

Erling Haaland (£14.0m)

Wednesday team news 4

Despite having his worst of three FPL seasons, it’ll still cost £14.0m to buy Haaland. That’s to deter managers from having both him and Mohamed Salah (£14.5m).

Then again, even a ‘bad’ campaign brought 22 goals, the joint-most shots on target (59, see below) and second biggest expected goals (xG, 22.01) tally.

Best £7.5m+ forwards for FPL 2025/26 1

Not that it tells the whole story. Back-to-back early hat-tricks helped the Norwegian reach a phenomenal 10 goals by the end of Gameweek 5. But, out of nowhere, a huge barren spell for both himself (three strikes in 13) and Manchester City removed the invincibility.

At least that storm looks to be over. The team picked up some late form to secure Champions League qualification, since adding Rayan Cherki (£6.5m), Rayan Ait-Nouri (£6.0m) and Tijani Reijnders (£5.5m) to their squad. Rodri (£6.5m) is back, too.

A good start versus Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur precedes the Gameweek 6 clash with Burnley. If Haaland can start like last time, suggesting he can return to the average of 40 attacking returns in each of his first two seasons, Haaland could become hard to resist – especially at a cheaper price than Salah.

Ollie Watkins (£9.0m)

Haaland and Watkins are locks in for me, with a £7.5m as my 3rd forward.

Probably Solanke if it looks like he will start GW1, i'm probably going to free hit GW2 so avoid the ManCity fixture.
It could easily be Wood though.

I'm not sure you can cover the leading points scorer in FPL.

Cover works at the back for clean sheet points.

Okay then, so I have Haaland to cover Salah points... I think Haaland outscores Salah this season.
Also I don't see any other reliable way into the City attack, none of their other attackers are likely to play over 2000 minutes.

Why do you need city attack? If you think Haaland outscores Salah, that's enough of a reason.

Think this is pretty much my settled team now, just not sure on 4.5 keeper, 4.5 defender and the fodder, but structure most important at the start:

    4.5
    VVD | Milenkovic | 4.5
    Salah | Palmer | Bruno | Eze | Rogers
    Solanke | Evanilson

    4.0 | 4.0 | 4.0 | Guiu

    Thoughts?

It's a strong starting eleven. Only issue I see is if you get an injury you'll have to use an early transfer.

I like it, Evanilson could be great pick. Few good options at 4.5m defence. 4.5m keepers tough I don’t see many good options tbh could upgrade keeper to 5m maybe Sanchez and Milkenovic to Neco

Yes he is, think he will be great this year. VVD kinda a placeholder for a 6m defender, though tempting to just go another 5.5 and upgrade Evanilson to Wood

You've blown your budget on 9 players.

Probably need to decide between one of Bruno or Palmer and spread the funds further.

Still think it looks quite strong, Evanilson the one I’m less sure about but Bournemouth are decent and JSL and Welbz are options

    5. Kingy109
      • 4 Years

I think if you wanted a little more money Eze to Sarr or Eze/Evanilson to Kluivert/JSL would give you a 5 mil keeper like a Sanchez or Sels and would let you have a 4.5 mil defender on the bench in case of surprises.
If prefer the 9 million forward price point to the 9 mil midfield in a Salmer/Palmer draft but that's a close call.

Thoughts on this draft without either Mo or EH.

    Kelleher I Petrovic
Gabriel I Munoz I Esteve I De Cuyper I Truffert
    Gordon I Wirtz I Bruno I Rogers I Kudus
    Pedro I Isak I Gyokeres

Barnes just scored a beautiful goal against Spurs, so I'd probably take Gordon out. He's currently playing as a centre forward but shirley Newcastle will buy a Wilson replacement soon.

Thoughts on this ? I don’t mind a back 4 this season but is it a bit weak along with Sarr in the middle ?
    Sels
    Konsa Vdv Dorgu Du-Cuyper (Rodon)
    Rogers Palmer Salah P.M.Sarr (Ramsey)
    Watkins Haaland (Guiu)

Not sure the balance is right here relying on 4.5m DEFs and probably one too many premiums. Not a huge fan having to play one of Rodon/M. Sarr/Ramsey/Guiu either.

FPL Blackbox's A+ tier list players for opening 6 fixtures:
Palmer, Salah, VVD, Haaland, Solanke, Milenkovic, Sels, Pedro, Rogers, Sanchez, Wirtz.

I currently own 6/11 of these players, not sure if that is a good or a bad thing.

Thoughts on this BIG AT THE BACK team. While it’s a lot of money to spend on defence I think there’s no obvious weak link especially with a 5.5 mid on the bench too if Malen doesn’t work out

    Sanchez
Gabriel Saliba VVD Cucurrella Ait Nouri
    Salah Palmer Wirtz Malen
    Solanke

Subs: Kinsky, Reijnders, Guiu, Obi Martin

    1. S.Kuqi
      • 13 Years

What if Gyö or Watkins starts the season with back to back braces?

Don't like big at back. Too unbalanced but could work in random gw but not week in week out.

I think this is awesome but also a huge gamble on Solanke having to play every match. I'd consider finding £1.0m to turn a bench forward into a £5.5m so you have playing backup.

      1. MysticMac17
        • 8 Years

Fair point! I think Guiu will be starter though by GW2 as he’s about to join Sunderland. Just need to make sure Solanke is a starter in GW1 I guess.

The 5.5 striker options don’t inspire me. Maybe Muniz if he gets a move to Leeds.

I'm currently on Watkins and Wissa.

I've also been on Isak in my squad along with a £4.5m.

Am I getting it all wrong already?

I also think Cunha and Mbeumo could be good picks again but I've currently got Bruno in my set up.

I've just seen this ... read it above which is why I'm questioning my approach.

If Isak had been sold I would have stick with him. The shenanigans in the transfer market don't help until teams start playing and the goals flying in again.

Where is Watkins rumoured to be going to?

Good article, I think Mateta would be template if he didn’t have Chelsea first game.
I’m starting with Watkins and Bowen - no Salah so Bowen an easy captain first GW then can easily switch to whoever starts firing from Wissa/Wood/Solanke/Pedro/Mateta

      Avoiding.

Best case, Pedro is a 60-70 minute player. But given Delap is a different profile of striker, I can see him starting against certain types of defences.

Front 3 is great but I don't like the midfield.

Caicedo and Anderson will get 2 or 3 points more often than not.
Ndiaye is a potential minutes-risk with Alcaraz lurking.

Also don't see the need for the extra keeper if you're not using BB.

I like the defense and midfield is strong too.

What's Pedro non penalty goal conversion like?

Sanchez is a bit dodgy too, Chelsea often find a way to concede including at home in the league.

Other than that, solid squad and bench.

    Who are your Liverpool picks?

I had Kerkez from the outset but had to downgrade him to AWB to afford more in midfield.

    Salah and Szoboszlai for me.

    Should Bruno become Wirtz?

Szoboszlai might become Murphy. Also have Rice and Saka in midfield.

Do i remove raul and get Piroe? Save 1m and invest in defense.. E.g remove 4m and get konsa to rota a bit better?

No issues with that. Cant see Brentford (kelleher) to be strong this season and i can move to konsa 4.5 if needed if de cuyper doesnt perform or rotate with AWB.

    Sanchez
    Williams/Tarkowski/Van de Ven
    Palmer/Anderson/Salah/Wirtz/Rogers
    Wood/Watkins

    4/Guiu/Konsa/Richards

    Any good?
Maybe a 4.5m instead of Sanchez and buy Milenkovic?

Yep i would swap gk for defense cover.
Reduce spend a little more as 4.5 striker is bench fodder and no likely option if starter doesnt play.

Maddison stretchered off with a bad injury. There was no contact. It doesn't look good 🙁
