On Saturday, we kick off for the first Double Gameweek of the season! This huge Double Gameweek 3 sees all League One and League Two sides playing twice, whilst all Championship sides have just one fixture each.

These Double Gameweeks make or break your Fantasy EFL season, so choosing well has never been more important.

Building on the incredible 30+ point performances we saw in the Double Gameweeks last season, it’s highly likely that we’ll see similar hauls this week.

To help you decide if you are still unsure, we will take a look at the latest captaincy poll results. Thanks, as always, to all who voted via our X account.

Double Gameweek 3 Captaincy Poll: The top selection

Barnsley’s talisman Davis Keillor-Dunn (M) emerges as the most popular captaincy option this Gameweek, backed by 35% of voters.

He is one of just four players to secure double-digit hauls in each of the first two games of the season. He found the back of the net in each fixture (+6) and added an interception per game (+2) as well.

The 27-year-old faces Bolton Wanderers (H) and Peterborough United (A), two of the weakest defensive sides of last season. They conceded 70 and 81 goals respectively.

He is currently owned by 24.5% of managers and counting, with many of these likely to give him the armband.

Second-best option

Carl Piergianni (D) has been selected by 23% of voters to be their captain this Gameweek. The Stevenage captain has had an incredible start to the season as he continues to be a defensive contributions magnet.

He leads the EFL in clearances, registering 29 across just two games (+7). Also managing a clean sheet in Gameweek 2, his Fantasy appeal is undeniable.

The Boro now face Northampton Town (H) and newly promoted Port Vale (A) in Double Gameweek 3. The Cobblers averaged just 1.0 goals per game last season, whilst the Valiants have scored a solitary goal across their first two games in League One.

There is a strong opportunity for two clean sheets for Piergianni, whilst the defensive contributions will surely keep coming in.

Third place

Mickey Demetriou (D) also gets some captaincy love, receiving 11% of the votes.

The 35-year-old continues to dominate in defensive contributions, tallying 24 clearances (+6) across two games already. He also registered a clean sheet last weekend (+5), bringing him to a total of 15 Fantasy points.

Crewe Alexandra play Crawley Town (H) and Fleetwood Town (A) in Double Gameweek 3. Crawley have lost their first two games of the season following relegation last year, scoring just once in total.

Demetriou was one of last season’s best Fantasy assets, and this year is no different.

All of the players below received at least one vote from managers ahead of the huge Double.

Perry Ng (D) plays Rotherham (H) and Wimbledon (A) this Gameweek, two excellent fixtures with strong clean sheet potential. He is a strong captaincy pick if he is deemed fit enough to play.

Jack Sanders (D) has recorded two double-digit performances in his two games this season, largely thanks to a clean sheet in each. The Dons’ defence has been watertight, and they now play Cheltenham Town (H) and Crawley Town (A).

Teammate Luke Offord (D) also has 5% of the votes and is an equally strong selection. He has 19 points this season.

Salford City’s Adebola Oluwo (D) plays Accrington Stanley (H) and Newport County (A), who finished 21st and 22nd last year, respectively. It is an ideal set of fixtures for Oluwo, who has 16 Fantasy points across his two matches this season.

George Honeyman (M) is the final player on this list, set to face Huddersfield Town (H) and Mansfield Town (A). He has 14 points this season as a result of a goal (+6) and two interceptions (+4). Selected by only 1% of managers, he is an interesting differential pick for Blackpool.
