As part of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) early-season tradition, a frantic number of transfers are being completed in the build-up to Gameweek 2.

Based on form, injuries, suspensions and upcoming fixtures, managers are frantically switching players around.

Buy, keep or sell? FPL transfer trends ahead of Gameweek 2

Above: As of Tuesday afternoon, the most bought (left) and most sold (right) players heading into Gameweek 2

But whether it’s a good idea or not is a different matter. Looking at this week’s most popular ins and outs, let’s pick out a couple of players who are good to buy, keep and sell in preparation for Gameweek 2.

Tijani Reijnders (£5.6m)

FPL notes: Reijnders

£46.5m summer signing Reijnders already began in over 1.8 million squads, but that could reach three million by Friday’s deadline.

Hype escalated for the Dutchman once he scored twice in Manchester City’s final friendly. But in Gameweek 1, his Premier League debut ended with a goal and an assist against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 10-point masterclass featured five penalty area touches, too.

Early opinions say that he could end up making a mockery of his original £5.5m price tag if Man City return to their usual standards and he gets close to last season’s 15 goals and five assists (in all competitions) at AC Milan.

In fact, his 77 shots ranked among Serie A’s top 10 players. Reijnders will likely be used in various roles by Pep Guardiola, but this one is clearly working.

VERDICT: BUY

Antoine Semenyo (£7.1m)

FPL Gameweek 2 early Scout Picks: Three double-ups 5

Beforehand, Friday night’s opener at Anfield saw Bournemouth’s Semenyo punish Liverpool’s defence on two occasions. He collected 15 points, one short of May’s Gameweek 38 brace versus Leicester City.

Ending last season as the second-best individual for box touches (212) and number three for goal attempts (125), the attacker was frustrating to own at times.

But the Cherries’ great fixtures between Gameweeks 2 and 7 rank third on our Ticker – a run of four home games, plus a trip to Leeds United, beginning at home to last-placed Wolves.

VERDICT: BUY

Florian Wirtz (£8.5m)

Liverpool v Bournemouth team news: Ekitike, Wirtz, Frimpong + Kerkez start

The scramble to buy one of those means that Wirtz is currently the most sold.

There’s been so much excitement over his arrival from Leverkusen and meeting such hype feels difficult. Sure enough, Friday seemed fairly quiet – although the 22-year-old shot once and set up three others, accumulating 0.42 expected goal involvement (xGI).

We think Wirtz could still become an FPL bargain and managers should keep faith beyond tricky matches against Newcastle United and Arsenal.

After all, pre-season brought one goal and three assists.

VERDICT: KEEP

Ezri Konsa (£4.5m)

FPL notes: How many matches Konsa will miss + 1

Speaking of Newcastle, they kept Aston Villa very quiet in Saturday’s 0-0 stalemate. Their hosts lacked threat, albeit the final half an hour had to be played with 10 men, thanks to Konsa’s red card.

The centre-back pulled back a clean through Anthony Gordon (£7.5m) and will therefore miss Gameweek 2’s trip to former club Brentford.

Unless you’re a very unlucky manager who is already struggling to field three defenders, it’s probably worth keeping Konsa for Villa’s subsequent run against Crystal Palace, Everton, Sunderland, Fulham and Burnley. It’s hard to ignore.

VERDICT: KEEP

Alexander Isak (£10.5m)

FPL notes: What did Howe say about Isak absence? 2

Whereas this one is possibly too easy. Almost 850,000 began the season with Isak, despite the star centre-forward refusing to play until he leaves the Magpies for Liverpool.

Yet it’s never looked like the champions were serious about making a realistic bid; it’s more been about unsettling a rival.

Right now, the chances of Isak staying on Tyneside are quite high, but things could always change. It certainly feels like the majority of Newcastle staff, players and fans want this petulant figure gone.

But regardless of where the Swedish international ends up, there’ll need to be several weeks of training to build match fitness. He’s not currently an FPL option.

VERDICT: SELL

Jarrod Bowen (£8.0m)

FPL Gameweek 25 differentials: Trossard, Huijsen + Bowen 1

Finally, perhaps selling a nailed-on talisman, someone who needs no Premier League adaptation, is an overreaction.

Three of Bowen’s last four seasons have brought in over 180 points and he looked bright in pre-season, forming a decent partnership with Niclas Fullkrug (£6.0m).

However, West Ham United looked absolutely woeful in their 3-0 humbling at Sunderland. Up next are Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur.

VERDICT: SELL

Do you agree or disagree with these conclusions? Feel free to leave a comment below about who to buy or sell before Gameweek 2.

Historically I can’t remember so many price changes so early, stand to be corrected. One of the down sides to free hitting early - you out of touch from your team and can’t get a key gw1 player in as he becomes unaffordable

Historically it was way more 15 years + ago, then it was carnage of price changes and double prices changes week 1 and 2, now seems way more stable and calm and only a few changes

Partly as more knowledge is out there on players , a formed template from content creators and not the masses making silly mistakes and panicking to get Rooney / Lampard / shiny new toy (Hello Zaki at Wigan) in causing huge price changes.

You should of played in 06-07, you had to wildcard gameweek 1 or your team would be 1.5m-2m behind others!

      I think the transfer threshold were 27,000 - 0.1, 54,000 - 0.2 and 108,000 - 0.3.

Imagine only 108,000 transfers required now to go up 0.3 in a week! 🙂

My strategy: gw1 - bench boost. gw2 - free hit. Gw3 - decent team from gw1. By then have a good idea of inform players etc and wild card for gw4. - super risky but the idea is to maximise points up front, started well as am in top 10k. Maintain and then bring in the best performers- can and most likely will go the way of the bog, but nice to try something different. Never gave it enough thought to include price changes.

Is Odegaard still an option for an easy way into ARS?

Rice on set pieces and corners might be better. Odegaard seems a bit off to me, still not at his best yet.

He'll need to start creating returns. He looked the most active against Man Utd but still not in top form for accuracy in his passes and shots. He does look like a good contributor for DCs, something I noticed he does a lot as he most often coordinates the team's pressing structure - leading by example.

The amount of times he just yeeted the ball away on Sunday was annoying though.

    Hey guys.

    I need some help.
Do any of you know Sorare?

I made an account and played common, but just today I won an Alisson Becker card limited. Someone offered me $80 USD for it already, but i am not quite sure how it all works.

I tried to accept it but it says i have to be 18+, which I am not. I cannot bypass the restriction as it wants a passport.

I could wait untill I am 18, but that would take one and a half years. The card will lose its in season status and also Alisson may not be playing at that stage.

    What should I do?

I just ticked the box tbh, i did not see any age restriction.

Question, why can't i wait for the 18 months it would take

And also, why is it 18? I can drive a car so why not sell a card?

Wow that looks not too good for me

However, i thought i remembered a place where it said Sorare was not gambling as you cannot lose money
(you cannot pay to play, you buy card and use card to play but at the end you still have card)

Also, is it gambling if i do not put in any money

But thanks for the response and i am listening for your reply

Lastly, by quit do you mean stop attempting to make money, or just delete the whole account?

I am quite undisciplined when playing FPL (already rather hastily played my first WC in GW2!) and usually take far too many hits throughout the season trying to assemble a good team. Some years ago took a minus 16 but still managed a green arrow that week though somehow. More than one way to play this game so just follow your own instincts. Only yourself to blame then if it goes wrong.

Best finish of 71k but usually end up around 800k - 1 million overall. Winning the Xavier Cup is now one of my targets for this season!!

Someone mentioned on here a strategy for non Arsenal owners, like myself, which I hadn't considered before.

Basically if sell Palmer this week for Saka it gives you:
    - Saka for Leeds at home
    - FH GW3 meanings Palmer back for GW3, triple United vs Burnley, lose Liverpool vs Arsenal
    - Liverpool players and Saka then back for GW4 for their nice fixtures.

Thoughts? or is there a clear, better window for FH?

I don't think it's just for Palmer, but he does have a nice home fixture and will be highly owned.

Also allows united (currently have none), means can lose wirtz and gakpo for arsenal game but have them back for Burnley.

I'm not 100% wedded to it but just keen to hear some opinions on it, good or bad.

Hi all, some random future template thoughts. I see Gakpo and Ekitike + Haaland template with the latest Isak and Newcastle statements

Even IF Isak is sold on deadline day (during the International break) and moves to Liverpool , he goes to play with Sweden without preseason, then comes back after 2 weeks before week 4, cant see much if any gametime in week 4 as he wont have trained basicaly with the team. Possibly 20min off the bench in week 5 after 1 week of training at the very best.

Then in week 6 onwards Liverpool play palace United chelsea City Forest etc, an easy flip to get Isak then. So basically no need for Salah in the short term i reckon and Gakpo and Ekitike is the play. Wirtz maybe also worth it in week 4 as the triple up.

And IF Newcastle basically dont budge (which i think is reality) , Gakpo and Ekitike is going to be template all season. In short they will be template in both scenarios up to week 6, and possibly longer.

I felt Dewsbury hall was poor for Everton. Especially against a team tipped to go back down. I am looking to offload asap

Is dorgu in for Diouf a good option? Or stick it out?
    Is Bowen worth transferring out?

      I'd sell Bowen.

    Hey everyone.

    My WC is active.
    Need advice on transfers.
Is it smart to swap Caicedo/Tavernier for Tielemans?
    Also Watkins for Woods?

    Raya.
    Tarkowski, Cucurella, Ballard.
    Palmer, Tavernier, Caicedo, Saka, Reijnders.
    Haaland, Watkins.

    Bench.
    Dubravka, Aina, Guiu, Esteve.

Sorry to be so blunt but this is a very very very poor WC team.

Multiple reasons, points chasing, no liverpool , poor fpl picks in midfield , weak bench. No route to United next week.

Since im also on WC after a great start (73) il share my current draft

        Dub
        Cucu Ait-Nouri Gabriel
        Saka Gakpo Sem Reindeer
        Haaland (c) Evanilson Ekitike

        Sels, Neco W, King, Bijol

United midfield in next week for Saka, Rotating options for Gabriels bad fixtures

Backing against template Palmer and Salah for tactical and money reasons.

Munoz instead of Gabriel given Ars fixtures, 0.5 cheaper, palace looking very solid?

        Valid observation.

        First time playing FPL.
        Still learning the ropes.

        Thanks.
