As part of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) early-season tradition, a frantic number of transfers are being completed in the build-up to Gameweek 2.

Based on form, injuries, suspensions and upcoming fixtures, managers are frantically switching players around.

Buy, keep or sell? FPL transfer trends ahead of Gameweek 2

Above: As of Tuesday afternoon, the most bought (left) and most sold (right) players heading into Gameweek 2

But whether it’s a good idea or not is a different matter. Looking at this week’s most popular ins and outs, let’s pick out a couple of players who are good to buy, keep and sell in preparation for Gameweek 2.

Tijani Reijnders (£5.6m)

FPL notes: Reijnders

£46.5m summer signing Reijnders already began in over 1.8 million squads, but that could reach three million by Friday’s deadline.

Hype escalated for the Dutchman once he scored twice in Manchester City’s final friendly. But in Gameweek 1, his Premier League debut ended with a goal and an assist against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 10-point masterclass featured five penalty area touches, too.

Early opinions say that he could end up making a mockery of his original £5.5m price tag if Man City return to their usual standards and he gets close to last season’s 15 goals and five assists (in all competitions) at AC Milan.

In fact, his 77 shots ranked among Serie A’s top 10 players. Reijnders will likely be used in various roles by Pep Guardiola, but this one is clearly working.

VERDICT: BUY

Antoine Semenyo (£7.1m)

FPL Gameweek 2 early Scout Picks: Three double-ups 5

Beforehand, Friday night’s opener at Anfield saw Bournemouth’s Semenyo punish Liverpool’s defence on two occasions. He collected 15 points, one short of May’s Gameweek 38 brace versus Leicester City.

Ending last season as the second-best individual for box touches (212) and number three for goal attempts (125), the attacker was frustrating to own at times.

But the Cherries’ great fixtures between Gameweeks 2 and 7 rank third on our Ticker – a run of four home games, plus a trip to Leeds United, beginning at home to last-placed Wolves.

VERDICT: BUY

Florian Wirtz (£8.5m)

Liverpool v Bournemouth team news: Ekitike, Wirtz, Frimpong + Kerkez start

The scramble to buy one of those means that Wirtz is currently the most sold.

There’s been so much excitement over his arrival from Leverkusen and meeting such hype feels difficult. Sure enough, Friday seemed fairly quiet – although the 22-year-old shot once and set up three others, accumulating 0.42 expected goal involvement (xGI).

We think Wirtz could still become an FPL bargain and managers should keep faith beyond tricky matches against Newcastle United and Arsenal.

After all, pre-season brought one goal and three assists.

VERDICT: KEEP

Ezri Konsa (£4.5m)

FPL notes: How many matches Konsa will miss + 1

Speaking of Newcastle, they kept Aston Villa very quiet in Saturday’s 0-0 stalemate. Their hosts lacked threat, albeit the final half an hour had to be played with 10 men, thanks to Konsa’s red card.

The centre-back pulled back a clean through Anthony Gordon (£7.5m) and will therefore miss Gameweek 2’s trip to former club Brentford.

Unless you’re a very unlucky manager who is already struggling to field three defenders, it’s probably worth keeping Konsa for Villa’s subsequent run against Crystal Palace, Everton, Sunderland, Fulham and Burnley. It’s hard to ignore.

VERDICT: KEEP

Alexander Isak (£10.5m)

FPL notes: What did Howe say about Isak absence? 2

Whereas this one is possibly too easy. Almost 850,000 began the season with Isak, despite the star centre-forward refusing to play until he leaves the Magpies for Liverpool.

Yet it’s never looked like the champions were serious about making a realistic bid; it’s more been about unsettling a rival.

Right now, the chances of Isak staying on Tyneside are quite high, but things could always change. It certainly feels like the majority of Newcastle staff, players and fans want this petulant figure gone.

But regardless of where the Swedish international ends up, there’ll need to be several weeks of training to build match fitness. He’s not currently an FPL option.

VERDICT: SELL

Jarrod Bowen (£8.0m)

FPL Gameweek 25 differentials: Trossard, Huijsen + Bowen 1

Finally, perhaps selling a nailed-on talisman, someone who needs no Premier League adaptation, is an overreaction.

Three of Bowen’s last four seasons have brought in over 180 points and he looked bright in pre-season, forming a decent partnership with Niclas Fullkrug (£6.0m).

However, West Ham United looked absolutely woeful in their 3-0 humbling at Sunderland. Up next are Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur.

VERDICT: SELL

Do you agree or disagree with these conclusions? Feel free to leave a comment below about who to buy or sell before Gameweek 2.

"As part of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) early-season tradition, a frantic number of transfers are being completed in the build-up to Gameweek 2."

The early transfer flurry has calmed down now that we've had a few price changes and all matches completed. Looking at the price prediction sites [LiveFPL & FFHub] there isn't the frantic hourly activity as we approach another 01:30am UTC deadline. Hub predicts Haaland may change tonight [101%] with everyone else a week away. LiveFPL isn't predicting any price changes in the next few days, so it will be interesting to see who's correct.

    Agree Bowen is a sell.

Thoughts on Enzo Fernandez punt on WC? Next 3 games are too good for Chelsea. Don't like JP with rotation risk. Even Palmer is too costly for the way he's been playing. Not going to captain anyone but Haaland/Salah.

last season Jackson scored twice, so either Joao Pedro or Delap will likely be a scorer for Chelsea, Enzo punt makes sense, a slightly riskier punt would be Neto, even riskier Estevao,

Roll the FT, bench him if you want, and then next week use 2 FT's to downgrade somewhere else and upgrade Fullkrug > 6.5, 7.0 or 7.5.

With FPLStats gone then of the remaining, LiveFPL were the most accurate for price rises last season and Hub the most accurate for price falls.

Semenyo tends to blow hot and cold, from memory, last season he used to do very well against say a Nottingham Forest and then blank for 3 GWs against relegation fodder. For those buying Semenyo, please brace yourself, as he is very much a player who can delight with a 15 or frustrate with a 2 plus yellow card making it a 1 against a promoted team.

I had him for a good while last season and the 2 times I benched him against City and Liverpool he got double figure hauls and pretty much blanked in every other game I played him.
I also think he does better with Kluivert out, so that could be a factor. He’s an avoid for me for now.

Mids dont get anything in bps for cleans, defenders and keepers do. This is correct imo as they also get deducted 4 for a goal scored in bps but mids dont. You've listed all his positive bits but not any negatives e.g. fouls conceded. He did only just miss out on bonus anyway I think

    Good morning all

Any issues here to deal with (double villa, Ndiaye, Bowen, Frimpong) or roll?

    Sels
    Murillo, Frimpong, Porro
    Salah, Palmer, Ndiaye, Reijnders, Rogers
    Bowen, Watkins

    Dub, Hartman, de Cuyper, Guiu

I think there's going to be an ongoing problem with Frimpong and rotation in the Liverpool fullback positions, so I think I'd switch to Ait-Nouri, Gabriel, Saliba or VVD

        Not yet though.

I'm giving Frimpong at least another week. Not only is 2 FT far better than 1, there's only one game of evidence.

I'm rolling Frimpong and Ndiaye this week.

Okay I'm a biased Everton fan but .
KDH -his home debut plus Everton's first game in the new stadium .
Also although Everton were poor at Leeds they looked okay defensively & KDH was 2nd on Everton bonus allocation .

Cheers, think I’ll take a few more punts this year as even going for the template C picks had a horrid season last time out!

It'll be interesting to see what Pep does against Spurs in midfield. You suspect Frank will go for 5 at the back/3 cbs as he tended to at Brentford and vs PSG with Spurs. He could double bluff of course. Do wing backs in opposition make your Doku's and Bobb's of this world less effective? I guess its the system Wolves used so probably means no change to the last game, especially as it was a convincing win.

Potential Saka captainers, is there a nagging feeling that Arsenal are awarded a penalty against Leeds and Saka has the dreaded group discussion with Odegaard and Gyokeres before Saka hands the ball to Gyokeres to take it and to get his first goal at the Emirates? I can see it already.

Gyokeres will almost certainly be on pens. It's not for Saka to decide now I'm afraid

However, with his minutes being managed, gyok might not even be in the field for the penalty

Yea, 100% Saka is giving a penalty to Gyokeres.

I have a feeling Saka has fallen behind Gyokeres and Odegaard in penalty duties.

          A.
City more likely to score more than Arsenal.
I didn't think Gyokeres was as bad as some made him out to be against Man U. Wouldn't be a shock if he breaks his duck this week as well.

If anyone will score it’s Watkins but with a total lack of creativity I need to see more from the team before I captain Watkins.

Be careful RE Haaland (C), lads. Only Arsenal, City and Everton conceded less goals than Frank's Brentford on the road last season. He'll play a back 5.
