FANTASY EFL TRANSFERS: KASEY MCATEER (F) SIGNS FOR IPSWICH TOWN

Ipswich v Man City team news: Dias starts, Savinho benched, no Greaves

Republic of Ireland international Kasey McAteer has joined Ipswich Town in a reported £12 million transfer from Leicester City, a move that strengthens Kieran McKenna’s attack.

An academy graduate at Leicester, McAteer made his debut in 2021 and went on to make 55 total appearances for the club.

He was a pivotal part of their 2023/24 title-winning season, scoring seven goals in 27 appearances across all competitions. His previous season in the top-flight was less fruitful.

No less, there are big expectations for the number 20.

He joins a strong contingent of fellow Irish internationals at the club, including Dara O’Shea (D), Chiedozie Ogbene (F), and Sammie Szmodics (M).

McAteer debuted in a 1-0 loss to PNE (A), and will hope to start against Derby in Gameweek 5.

FANTASY EFL TRANSFERS: WREXHAM SIGN CALLUM DOYLE (D)

Doyle has been permanently signed by Phil Parkinson’s side for a reported fee of £7.5 million from Manchester City.

Despite being just 21, he has extensive experience in the Championship and League One, with over 150 appearances to his name. In 23/24, he made 23 appearances while on loan at Leicester City under Enzo Maresca in their title-winning season.

During his loan at Norwich City last season, Doyle showcased his talent by making 46 appearances and contributing to eight goals (+28).

He is expected to make his debut in Gameweek 5 against Millwall.

FANTASY EFL TRANSFERS: BEN GODFREY (D) RETURNS TO THE EFL

The 2024/25 alternative FPL end-of-season awards

Ruben Selles’s side have strengthened their defence with the season-long loan of Godfrey from Serie A side Atalanta.

The 27-year-old, who was once named Everton’s Young Player of the Season, will be hoping to reignite his career.

His recent moves to Atalanta and Ipswich didn’t work out as planned.

He joined the Serie A club in the summer of 2024, but only made one substitute appearance before being loaned to Ipswich, where he played just five times.

The Yorkshire-born defender is expected to immediately replace Anel Ahmedhodzic (D), who recently moved to Feyenoord. He scored three points on his debut against Millwall (H) in Gameweek 4.

FANTASY EFL TRANSFERS: LORENT TOLAJ (F) JOINS THE PILGRIMS

Fantasy EFL Double Gameweek 37: Scout Squad

Port Vale’s Tolaj has made the move to League One rivals Plymouth Argyle on a four-year contract.

The Pilgrims triggered the 23-year-old’s release clause to secure the deal.

The Swiss talisman was instrumental in Vale’s promotion last season. He scored 14 goals and delivered nine assists across 46 appearances.

He replaced Ryan Hardie (F), who left for Wrexham, and inherited the coveted number nine jersey.

Although he didn’t find the back of the net in his debut against Blackpool – a game that ended in Argyle’s first win of the season – he showed promising signs with an xG of 0.9.

Tolaj will be looking to open his goal-scoring account in their upcoming match against Cardiff City (A).

OTHER KEY DEALS

Everton v Southampton team news:

Tyler Dibling has signed for Everton from Southampton for a reported £40 million. The versatile attacking midfielder, who made 44 appearances and scored four goals last season, joins on a four-year deal. Despite Southampton’s relegation, Dibling was a standout player for the Saints.

Paddy Madden (F) has joined Accrington Stanley on a season-long loan from Chesterfield. A consistent scorer, he’s hit 10+ league goals in 10 of his last 13 seasons, and debuted in Accrington’s 1-1 home draw with Grimsby.

In a significant move for Salford City, the club secured Michael Rose (D) on a three-year deal. The experienced centre-half, who joins on a free transfer from Stoke City, has previously played for both Coventry City and the Potters, accumulating nearly 130 Championship appearances.
