Nine teams belong to Pot 1, but Dortmund aren’t near the leading nine expectations. Instead, Arsenal are up there, placed fourth.

Reigning champions PSG have odds of 60.7%, despite needing to navigate a tough set of fixtures versus Barcelona, Bayern Munich and arguably the strongest sides from Pots 3 and 4.

Meanwhile, we see that Pot 2 confidence varies from Arsenal all the way down to 30th-placed Club Brugge.

In fact, Tottenham Hotspur (3), Napoli (3) and Newcastle United (4) are seen as more likely to finish in the top tier than seven of the Pot 2 outfits.

What do we think of Gakpo on a WC? I want LIV attacker but I'm going Haaland instead of Salah. Ekitike the better option? (minutes could drop off soon)

    1. MJF
        8 months, 18 days ago

It’s a tricky time to WC because of this precise dilemma. Maybe go both and then see what happens when Isak comes in, plus hope that Salah doesn’t burst into life.

Keep going back and forth between Kudus and Johnson. Kudus has the minutes, but not much returns yet; and Johnson has the returns, but seems to be on his way out of favour now.

If you can afford to wait, that's the sensible play. By next IB we'll probbyl have a clear view on first choice XI

Yeah, I agree. Am on WC, though. Need to get in on Spurs' current momentum and nice run, so I guess I'll just go safe with Kudus and switch him out when the starting XI settles.

            It's tricky.

Their fixtures are really attractive but, if there's no standout option to ride them with, it's a bit meaningless. I'd have Porro, take the occasional CS and DC and hope for the odd attacking return which he's more than capable of.

Avoid both honestly. Kudus is a fancy player that lacks consistency to be a really good FPL pick, Johnson has actually looked the part (numbers wise) since last season but doesn't seem like the most exciting of players. They might make for a good punt occassionally, but they don't look like season keepers at all and might sooner or later become a problem in the team.

With the fixtures, Bou's numbers and the fact you can rotate him in and out (e.g. he rotates quite nicely with Andersen until GW20!), I don't see the double up being a big issue. Each to their own though!

Burnley gave Man United a run for their money (Bruno won it with a penalty at home). Haaland meanwhile just scored 5 and assisted one, I recommend more consideration in assessing the fixtures. He could captain either, but a big chance Haaland outscores Salah this time.

But from memory it was only 1 or 2, not 11 we put past them. Seriously deliberating on a Halaand(c) - especiially as it's the last game.

Fair points, but I stand by my comment which wasn't 'don't captain Haaland' but 'if not Salah, seriously consider selling'.

Man Utd aren't Liverpool and Moldova certainly aren't United! If Salah, playing for the champs and runaway favourites to do it again, isn't a shoe-in for captaincy against a promoted side then he isn't worth £14.5m in my opinion.

FWIW, he's on borrowed time in my team and will probably go in GW7 WC. I'm captaining this week though (don't have Haaland)

Ditto. Every player, inclsuing Salah, has a peak year and Salah has just had his. He's on the way down and Pool's goals/assists will be shared much more evenly than in previous years. Salah will still score well - but 14.5m worth? I think not. Even taking into account captaincy, I predict better value elsewhere.

                100% agree

Why would I buy the most expensive player on the game for the easiest fixture hell get and consider not capping him?

The answer is because he's a jammy old Liverpool player who would love to blank just to spite me.

I think you sell Salah when you ask yourself if you really think the most expensive player in the game might not do well against arguably the worst team in the league.

Me I have Haaland C and no Salah, EFC fan but it worked well so far.

Also, you see Haaland scoring five, two nasisast and getting loads of service at city.

You see Mo Salah getting jammy late returns and being a penalty merchant

One of my main reasons for leaning Salah over Haaland this week is the alternatives. My instinct is Haaland braces vs Man Utd, but I also think there's every chance Wissa, Mateta, Ekitite or Pedro could match that. Then he has Arsenal which will most likely be another cagey Arteta 0-0 or 1-1.

On the other hand, I don't see any MF in the game with the haul potential that Salah has over the next 2. That's why I think I'm sticking on Mo for bur/EVE then reevaluate in GW6.

I found it surprisingly easy to fit Salah and Haaland into a WC team. Not saying that is the best move but the higher price players are not worth it at the moment so with King, Grealish, Pedro, Dango etc there is a lot of value in players 4.5 - 6.5.

On the flip side Salahs stats (eg xGI) are awful compared to most attacking mids and especially Haaland. Puttinf aside his legacy and looking at that and then the fact we dont know how Isak is going to change the dynamic of the team I think Salah may well catch a few million people out this gameweek.

            Go with
            A) Pope or
            B) Petrovic

            On wc
            I will have Senesi

Not sure if Pope is worth the 0.5m more

Not sure Petrović is worth having. Newcastle have conceded the least shots, making Pope a likely recipient of clean sheets, however leaving him less likely to accumulate saves and save points.

The appeal of Senesi is his DefCons (partly his attacking threat historically), Petrović looked quite sloppy to me, and not sure Borunemouth's defence will actaully keep up their form considering it's been completely dismantled and then rebuilt in the summer.

My personal advice would be Henderson.

Only thing with Henderson is he's a waste of a Palace spot. Great reliable keeper, but hard enough picking 3 from Munoz/Lacroix/Guehi/Sarr/Mateta when their fixtures are good.

            Sels (Dubravka)
            Porro, Diouf, Andersen (Williams, Rodon)
            Salah, Palmer, Sarr, Reijnders (KDH)

Thoughts on Madueke & Xavi Simons moving forward?
Madueke probably depends on how long Saka is out for, but could be a short-term punt. As for Xavi, do you think he gets thrown straight in? They looked like they really needed him last game.

            Whoa.

Palmer set to play Brentford? Or just hearsay?

Same info from GW3 Friday presser. No new info during IB

"Cole, we need to see day by day [how long he will be out]. And [Lavia and Badiashile], I don’t think they are going to be back after the international break but they are going to be more close.

“I spoke with Thomas [Tuchel] a few times but then at the end, it is Thomas’s decision [to leave Palmer out of the England squad]. So, he decided for that, but again, he’s not available tomorrow so it’s quite normal. It shows that he has some problems.” – Enzo Maresca

Is this midfield too weak with Haaland, Watkins (yeah I know, but he’s bound to come good isn’t he?) and JP up top?

I can also afford to upgrade King to Harvey Elliot, which do you think is the better option?

Going with Salah and Haaland means you can't have the likes of VVD, Gabriel, Cucurella, etc. Are you set on a cheapie defence?

Seeing these Palmer reports, I'm still not interested in getting him in as he's nowhere near an 11M FPL asset anymore IMO. But does he make Pedro a worse option?

WC activated. Have kept £3m ITB to upgrade Mateta to Isak in GW6 if he's fit and firing by then. Have gone for King as bench fodder and a stronger defence for DC. Thoughts overall?

Stick with Semenyo imo. Really strong data; not just this season but last season too. Always outperforms his xG, despite the narrative he can't shoot. Great player, great team, no Europe.
