Who is the best captain for FPL Gameweek 5?

In Gameweek 4, FPL managers who targeted the fixture and captained Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) were rewarded in stoppage time. All three of the Egyptian’s attacking returns have come after the 90th minute!

Erling Haaland (£14.2m) bagged his fourth and fifth goals of the season to continue his stellar record in the Manchester derby, while Cole Palmer (£10.4m) returned from injury against Brentford to remind us of his enduring quality.

Attention now turns to Gameweek 5 and whether there is a case to look beyond Salah, who hosts Everton in the early kick-off, in favour of a differential option.

Gameweek 5 captain best

Among Fantasy Football Scout site users, Salah is the runaway leader in the captaincy poll, currently sitting on just over 50% of the vote. A goal and assist in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday has only increased his appeal. 

Haaland sits in second place once again with a little under 10% backing ahead of Man City’s heavyweight clash with Arsenal at the Emirates. The Norwegian scored in both league fixtures against the Gunners last season. 

Elsewhere, Antoine Semenyo (£7.5m) and Joao Pedro (£7.8m) are the only other players with over 5% of the vote.

      The consensis is yes.
      But will wolves win any penalties? If i recall, last year they were the only team in the prem not to win a single penalty

      Only four current wolves players have ever taken a compeditive penalty for the club.

      All four shot in the shootout defeat to bournemouth last year in the FA cup.

      Strand larsen shot first, confidently going bottom right.
      Andre next, another bottom right, less confident and just evaded the keeper
      Toti Gomes fourth (RAN third) high left, scored
      Matt doherty last, missed entirely to the left of the goal.

      So i would assume Strand larsen is the best of these, certainly over doherty's miss and looked far more confident than the other two as well. None of the others have PK taking history either except for Matt Doherty, who took two pens, one for Bury in 2012, and one for Wolves U21 in 2013. (both scored)

      New signings are the other contenders for pk duty,
      Tolu Arokdare: 5/9 PK scored. Poor record, expensive fee but not nailed either
      Jhon Arias: 9/12 PK scored. Probably the most likely alternative to Strand Larsen, but not stellar record
      Ladislav Kreci: 13/15 PK scored. All in Czech divisions. High scoring rate, but none since he joined Girona in 2024. Not nailed 100% but looks like he might start. He would be the third candidate for Pks.

      So in total, Strand Larsen, Arias, and Kreci would be the most likely players to take a penalty for wolves, in that order.
