Pope was worried that he was about to be sent off, rather than tell the ref he got the ball

Arteta must be fuming at 101%.

im not trying to be anti-arsenal , but why would pope worry about being sent off as at the very least it was a clear attempt to play the ball even if he didnt touch it

Sanchez tried to play it too last week and got it totally wrong

He tried to play the ball and the guy above says that wouldn’t be a red card

              • 12 Years

It wouldnt because there is no longer the "double punishment" if there is a penalty awarded after a genuine attempt to play the ball. This was changed a few years ago.

When Sanchez does it outside the box there cant be a penalty so a red card is the punishment.

Gyo seems overpriced. Going to score a bit of goals for sure but unlikely to live up to the price. Not really a title contender quality striker from what weve seen so far in the PL.

Lol Newcastle were outclassed, eveb in those duels you speak of, until every possible decisions started going their way. This killed Arsenal’s momentum that made Pope pull some class saves already. The scoreboard doesn’t at all reflect what we’ve seen in the game but rather what’s been going on in the backroom.

Class analysis, mate. Newcastle have a good structure and they defend with passion from the crowd, Arsenal have been attacking congested spaces where blocks, tackles etc. are common but managed to open them up quite often.

          1. el polako
            • 9 Years

            I’m not talking about blocks.
I’m saying that every 1v1 Arsenal players either give the ball away or end up on the ground, or both.

Arsenal should have had penalty or score when they were on the front foot but from half way through the half they look like boys being outplayed by grown men.

Right so I will WC in 8 and I’ve made this draft but it has 5.9m ITB. Is that normal? I’ve gone with no Pedro due to 0 shots from the last 2 games. This is the current draft:

    Pope Dubravka
    Gabriel VVD Senesi Richards Mukiele
    Semenyo Doku I.Sarr Minteh Anthony
    Haaland Woltemade Thiago

  18. Count of Monte Hristo
    • 13 Years
    11 months, 2 days ago

Gabriel looking ridiculous trying to be physical with Woltemade after the restart but yet he decides not to even challenge Woltemade when it matters instead falling to the floor and trying to con a foul. Always in big decisive moments these Arsenal players become flaky and make poor choices.

Sometimes I think certain people are immune from criticism to a degree. Both Salah and Joao Pedro, even Wellbeck have only 2 goals in 6 GW's, yet no-one really saying much on them, but everyone talks about Wirtz, Gyokeres, Watkins

haha.. True... forgot about the Palmer hype too even though he's been shocking since the turn of the year. Bruno hasnt been much better neither, and I've still got him in my squad for my foolishness.

It's the hope that beats us.

Maybe Gyökeres doesn't have the football intelligence to find the spaces in an Arteta system.

At Sporting his goals mostly came from quick transistions or having space outside the 6 yard box to shoot. He was also physically superior but not so much in the PL.

He's got a great run of fixtures coming up
