Some big names are off to a slow start in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) this season.

Perhaps they should take a leaf out of KSI’s book…

One of England’s most famous influencers, Olajide Olayinka Williams “JJ” Olatunji Jr – known professionally as KSI – rose to fame on YouTube more than a decade ago, playing video games like FIFA and co-founding a group called the Sidemen with his friends. He then ventured off the web and into realms including music and boxing plus various businesses.

And he loves FPL!

Seven Gameweeks into 2025/26, he looks to be on course for a particularly lofty ranking:

JJ’s team, aptly named “KSI ARMY”, is currently hovering around the 33k mark in terms of overall rank (OR) in FPL, having slipped slightly from a rank of 30k.

He’s used four chips to get there, most recently playing a Triple Captain in Gameweek 6.

A defence-first movement is gathering pace in FPL this season, thanks to DefCon’s prevalence among managers’ in-game thinking. KSI appears to have jumped aboard that train early on.

As of Gameweek 7, the internet personality was proudly sporting a “five at the back” formation with double Arsenal defence – Gabriel Magalhaes (£6.3m) alongside goalkeeper David Raya (£5.7m) – plus Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk (£6.1m), Bournemouth’s DefCon king Marcos Senesi (£5.0m), Crystal Palace’s Daniel Munoz (£5.6m) and – somewhat sacrilegiously, for a Gunners fan – Tottenham Hotspur’s Pedro Porro (£5.6m).
