The Gameweek 14 press conferences began on Monday, with seven Premier League managers facing the media to discuss injuries and team news.

All the key quotes are in the article below.

The managers of the other 13 top-flight clubs will hopefully host pre-match pressers on Tuesday, although there’s a chance that Thursday night bosses Ruben Amorim and Nuno Espirito Santo won’t.

KEY GAMEWEEK 14 INJURY UPDATES FROM MONDAY

  • Newcastle United: No fresh injuries; Pope to be analysed, but Botman needs a specialist
  • Tottenham Hotspur: Romero back from ban
  • Manchester City: Rodri and Kovacic are still unavailable
  • Bournemouth: Suspensions for Senesi, Brooks and Cook
  • Nottingham Forest: Gibbs-White and Murillo are expected to make the XI
  • Everton: Still no Coleman, Branthwaite or Gana
  • Fulham: Wilson knock shouldn’t be a problem

NEWCASTLE UNITED

A long-awaited away win finally came for the Magpies on Saturday, thrashing Everton 4-1. Eddie Howe doesn’t report any new problems on top of absentees Kieran Trippier (hamstring), Emil Krafth (knee) and Will Osula (ankle).

“No fresh injuries I believe. We will have a good look at the lads today. Positive physical performance I thought. It wasn’t the biggest game in terms of load so the lads are okay.” – Eddie Howe

The head coach doesn’t have any specific update on Nick Pope (groin) but praised Aaron Ramsdale for “a really good start” in goal.

“No further update from Saturday. He is probably one of a number of players that we will analyse early this week and try and get a proper diagnosis.” – Eddie Howe on Nick Pope

Meanwhile, yet-to-debut Yoane Wissa (knee) has featured in an 11 v 11 training game, and Sven Botman (back) will meet an expert to specify his situation.

“Sven [Botman] is going to see a specialist in the next couple of days just to get a definitive opinion on whether he needs an injection or whether he is able to rest for a few days and then resume training. So we’ll wait and see.” – Eddie Howe

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

Other topics took centre stage during Thomas Frank’s press conference, but he did drop in a line about team news.

“Everyone ready for the Fulham match is ready for Newcastle tomorrow.” – Thomas Frank

He’ll also have Cristian Romero back from a one-match suspension.

Fellow defenders Radu Dragusin (knee) and Kota Takai (thigh) are still building up their match fitness.

So, that leaves just Dominic Solanke (ankle), James Maddison (knee), Dejan Kulusevski (knee) and Yves Bissouma (ankle) on the sidelines.

MANCHESTER CITY

In an extremely brief chat with the media, Pep Guardiola’s only injury-related comment confirmed that Rodri (hamstring) won’t be available on Tuesday.

“Not yet [ready]. I don’t know [if he will be fit for the weekend].” – Pep Guardiola on Rodri

Mateo Kovacic (ankle) isn’t available either.

BOURNEMOUTH

Affecting over three million FPL managers is the one-match suspension of defender Marcos Senesi. Both he and David Brooks have accumulated five yellow cards and will miss the Cherries’ meeting with Everton.

Given a straight red card for violent conduct, Lewis Cook isn’t around for three matches.

“I think everyone will be available. Apart from the suspensions, the two Scottish players Ryan [Christie] and Ben [Gannon-Doak] out. I think everyone else should be available, yes.” – Andoni Iraola

As for injuries, there’ll be no Ben Gannon-Doak (hamstring) or Ryan Christie (knee) either.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Despite saying that Murillo (knock) “should be fine” to face Brighton and Hove Albion, the Brazilian didn’t make Sean Dyche’s squad.

And, while Morgan Gibbs-White did recover from a midweek knock to take part, he was forced off in Sunday’s final minutes.

“Murillo – we think will be alright. He’s got a little bit of a virus today. Hopefully he will be fit for selection tomorrow.

“[Morgan] Gibbs-White came off with a knock but we’re expecting him to be ready for selection tomorrow.” – Sean Dyche

Chris Wood (knee), Taiwo Awoniyi (knock), Douglas Luiz (hamstring), Angus Gunn (knee), Ola Aina (hamstring), Oleksandr Zinchenko (muscle) and Dilane Bakwa (hamstring) remain on Forest’s injury list, although the latter two are back in training.

“Bakwa and Zinchenko are both back training. Bakwa will be slightly longer.” – Sean Dyche

EVERTON

The Toffees don’t like visiting Bournemouth, drawing one and losing seven of their last eight trips there, across all competitions.

On Tuesday, David Moyes still won’t be able to call upon Seamus Coleman (hamstring), Jarrad Branthwaite (hamstring), Nathan Patterson (foot) or Merlin Rohl (hernia).

“None of them are available for the game. As you can see we are missing Merlin [Rohl], we are missing an extra midfield player which we are lacking a little bit. Seamus [Coleman] would give us more cover at right back if he was available.

“Jarrod [Branthwaite] has been out for most of the season so we are a little bit limited to what we have got central defender wise. We’re just a little bit short in those areas but we will be fine and we’ll get through it. – David Moyes

Furthermore, Idrissa Gana Gueye is serving the second part of his three-match ban.

FULHAM

Continuing the good news of back-to-back victories, Marco Silva has no extra injuries to deal with.

Just a tiny knock to Harry Wilson, alongside the already-known absences of Antonee Robinson (knee) and Rodrigo Muniz (hamstring).

“Wilson felt something in the game, but he was okay yesterday. He felt something vs Sunderland. Doesn’t look like it’s something that will take him from the game tomorrow. [Robinson] is doing gym work, let’s hope we have good news in December.” – Marco Silva

Posted on old Article for some reason but finally a good week. In the top 1mil. Brought in Thiago and Foden with my 2FT and after selling Eze for Gakpo last GW. A bit of relier. Have only 1FT but also saved the FH. So thinking of either 2 Options. Team is as follows

    Pope*
    Munoz, Timber, VVD
    Semenyo, Foden, Gakpo, Sarr*
    Haaland, Thiago*, Mateta
    Dubravka, Rodon, King, Senesi*

    A) GW14-FH, GW15- Sarr out, GW16- Use as many as 5FT
    B) Sarr to Rice/Minteh, GW15-Pope out, GW16-FH

Sale of fireworks soon to be banned nationwide, so renegades will be going firework crazy over the next month in the Netherlands. Better to stay inside on NYE in many places unless you want to feel like you're in a warzone. I might stay in UK for a little longer after Christmas just to avoid it.

I might want to strengthen my bench with the short turnaround (Option A & B). What do you think?

    A) Senesi > Calafiori/Gvardiol/Matheus.N/Chalobah
    B) Bijol > Thiaw/N.Williams
    C) Cunha* > Fernandes/Foden/Gakpo
    D) Cunha* > Rice ($ITB for Senesi > Timber)
    E) Semenyo > Foden/Gakpo/Rice
    F) Semenyo > Anderson ($ITB for Senesi > Timber)
    G) Save to use 2FTs next gameweek

    Petrovic
    Virgil Munoz O'Reilly
    Salah Saka Mbuemo Cunha* Semenyo
    Mateta Welbeck

    Dubravka | Senesi**, Guiu, Bijol

    1FT. 1.1 ITB

Assuming Cunha is out, C probably has the most upside and should let you field 11

    2. Captain Mal
      • 1 Year
      3 months, 5 days ago

B looks clearly the best if you are after improving squad depth.
I'd probably keep Senesi. He will miss a game, but safer minutes than any of the suggested alternatives long-term. Calafiori on 4 yellows, Pep and Maresca can rotate any time.
Semenyo is a 90-minutes man and Cunha should be back soon.

      1. Deulofail
        • 10 Years
        3 months, 5 days ago

Cheers captain! Nicely reasoned. I'd be happy to get rid of Semenyo, but maybe the alternatives aren't clear-cut enough. Rice is at least good for minutes, but even he could be managed this week (although so could Semenyo) or rested sometime soon.

Cunha back soon, but Sesko could be back not long after, which diminishes his appeal significantly. Looking like a failed punt at the moment, and I feel like I could miss out on a haul from popular picks who are more certain to get the required minutes. But if he's back already this GW, I would kick myself for selling him.

Calafiori 4 YCs is a minor downer, but I can strengthen the bench before it's an issue, as I will be making at least 1 transfer in each of the next 2 GWs. Would just hope he doesn't get the 5th this GW, leaving me with no bench again next GW, but at least the other 3 defenders have decent fixtures then.

Thanks for the reply. Will keep on mulling (thoughts and wine)

How long is Cunha confirmed out? I think hes gonna be a great pick when Mbeumo leaves for Afcon so wouldnt want to get rid.

I like B. I think your bench is a bit weak for the christmas schedule so having another starter seems good.

      1. Deulofail
        • 10 Years

Thanks. B seems sensible but not in the least bit exciting, unfortunately. Not overly keen on either option and they would go straight on the bench

coming back to my normal team after the party that was the Free Hit is depressing, who to dump Bowen for?
    A) Woltemade?
    B) Thiago (despite fixture)?
    C) Zirkzee (despite being Zirkzee)?

    1. cigan
      • 7 Years

Same feeling, how many points did you get? Was happy with 60 given my non-fh team would score about 20

I've only got 1FT and other pressing issues (Sarr, Senesi) now so I'll be switching to Thiago next week

      1. suddenorgan
        • 15 Years

73 with Haaland captain, pretty fortunate.. I can field 11 this week so may leave the move for Thiago until we get the AFCON transfers and do something wackier in the meantime (probably not Zirkzee)

          That's a great score, congrats!

And yeah I'd avoid Zirkzee, in that case it might actually be better to just keep Bowen tbf

and yeah hincapie would just be in until gabriel was back and then sold, so short term. looks like a player who can get to 10 defcons occasionally, doesnt shy away from a tackle or duel 😀

      Best option;

      A) Play Andersen - home you Man City
      B) Gudmundsson to O'Reilly (-4)

      Cheers.

How many points will Guddmunddsson score this week?

      A. 1
      B. 1
      C. 1

Think I can scrape together a starting 11 with Gudmundson on the bench. Should I therefore...

      A - Ditch Pope
B - Ditch Sarr and bench Enzo

      Pope
      Timber - Virgil - Andersen
      Semenyo - Enzo - Gakpo - Mbeumo
      Haaland - Mateta - Wolte

      Dubravka - Gudmund - Sarr - Senesi

        A.

I would bench Enzo. He’s got a great fixture

if you dont want pope when back fit would sell this gw. otherwise dubravka has got a decent enough home fixture (palace's attack without sarr suffers) to cover

your team looks alright as is i think

Thanks. I guess the question is was Pope's injury a cover story to downplay him being dropped. If he's going to be out for a few I'd rather get rid now as it'll be a transfer waiting to happen

We get a double dose of all the chips

First set to be used by the end of December

Extra chips issued in Jan for Gw20 onwards

        This week

Was waiting for injuries and suspensions so going to use it to bridge some blanks and pile further into home fixtures

Punt on a Liverpool player or two

        It's not without risk

Always a risk I suppose with short turn around of fixtures

I'd keep Reijnders for the moment

Foden sharp as a tack and looking for goals

      Which to go for?
      A) Foden
      B) Saka
      C) Bruno

they are all good picks at the moment so very difficult to choose - I have Saka and will probably get Foden and/or Bruno in the next week or two

Hmm, maybe Foden now, then Mbeumo to Bruno for Afcon

You have none of them? I have all 3...

I'd prioritize Saka, Bruno, Foden in that order I think but since I own all I can confidently say I like all 3 as options.

          Nope. Have Rice, Mbeumo.
Saka just doesn't seem worth the money at the moment

As good as Saka is, does he score enough to justify his price?

He probably needs penalties in the mix.

        bruno

i had foden for 7 GWs before last and he got 1 assist. yeah i kept him because he was playing well (put on a clinic vs napoli and dismantled dortmund) and the brace was nice but like, wouldnt be confident to say whether he carries on scoring now or goes back to blanking.

if there was a match in arsenal's upcoming fixture run where saka could be given abit of breather and only 60mins probably this one. unless arteta intends to bench him against brugge

on the bruno front as well. like, even if had scored just 1 of his missed pens and that roefs wonder save onto the woodwork, those go in, hes easily the top mid point scorer in the game.

*and as well with bruno, hes hit 11 DCs so often. could easily have had another 4-8 pointer from that avenue to boost his overall total

Doku has been really poor since the Liverpool game

Bogle had him in his pocket in the Leeds match
