GAMEWEEK 16 SCOUT PICKS

GOALKEEPER

FPL Gameweek 11 Scout Picks: Arsenal triple-up

David Raya (£6.0m) takes his place between the sticks as Arsenal prepare to face Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium. Mikel Arteta might be short of a few first-choice defensive options this week; however, the Gunners have kept a clean sheet in five of their seven home matches thus far. They will also be buoyed by the fact that their visitors have failed to score in each of their last four encounters on the road, so the odds are firmly against Wolves in Gameweek 16.

DEFENDERS

Chelsea’s home encounter with Everton brings Trevoh Chalobah (£5.3m) into contention, as Enzo Maresca’s side look for a fifth clean sheet in seven matches. A unanimous selection among our Scout Squad panel, the £5.3m defender has started every Premier League game he has been available for this season. He also offers a bit of goal threat (he’s scored three times already), as well as the potential for defensive contribution (DefCon) points (35.7% success rate).

Keane Lewis-Potter’s (£4.8m) ‘out of position’ potential is key to his appeal in Gameweek 16. With Kevin Schade (£7.0m) suspended and Reiss Nelson (£4.8m) used sparingly and only just back from injury, the 24-year-old could play on the left wing, provided Keith Andrews opts for a 4-2-3-1 formation at home to Leeds United. With the increased possibility of an attacking return, as well as a clean sheet, Lewis-Potter could be poised for a differential haul.

Joachim Andersen (£4.6m) gets the nod for Fulham’s away trip to Burnley. Marco Silva’s side have failed to keep a clean sheet on the road in 2025/26, but the Danish centre-back is a clear threat from set plays and offers the best chance of DefCon points, with a 64.3% success rate over the season. Burnley, meanwhile, have suffered three straight losses at Turf Moor and failed to score a single goal during that run.

It would be interesting to see how many of the 5 gifted FT were actually used on players going to AFCON. I can't see this being a thing next season.

FPL towers wouldn't have known about Salah being poor this season or Sarr picking up an injury a couple of weeks before afcon.

Probably Mbeumo and Ndiaye would be sold in 16/17 with the FT top up

Yeah I get Salah, routinely his ownership is high, but the others.. - i just feel 5ft is very generous, not really used on players heading to AFCON and now 90% of the teams will look the same!

I'm not a fan of the transfer top up but it probably brings back folks that have lost interest

FPL Towers would have looked at the data from last season and saw that very few people made it to 5 FTs and therefore wanted an excuse for people to experience it this season.

I think anything that encourages people to change their players and add more variance to teams is a great idea.

Agree.. the more varied teams the better for the game. But I'm not convinced we have that?

‘Add more variance’? It literally is encouraging template teams.

Which is the better way to bring in Saka?

    A. Use 3 FTs and sell Mateta.
    B. Use 2 FTs and sell Semenyo.

Selling Semenyo before United (who have kept 1 CS all season) and Burnley isn’t a great idea so I’d go Mateta

Blew a few to beat price changes. Still have BB to play and so am building a starting 15. Have decided not to take a -4 and will just do Gakpo > Szob and forget Raul. Will get Bruno in 18 or 19

  9. Mane Mane Mane

Made a bit of a stupid decision early out of annoyance of my low rank and used all 5 transfers. My team is and using BB

    Martinez * Dubravka
    Timber* Thiaw Hincapie Collins Andersen
    Bruno Foden Rogers Rice* Wilson
    Haaland Thiago Woltemade

Should I cancel BB, and use a freehit to save the transfers due to injury concerns or just ride it out?

Not sure what team you're walking into GW17, but I think I'd FH that team to ensure Arsenal coverage and fix things next week.

Remember when a few weeks back folks on FH picked Rogers(fresh off a brace) vs Wolves? I do, 0,08 xG for a solid 3 pointer.
That Rogers has twice as many PL goal involvements in 2025 as the player the very same folk are captaining this week.

P.S. Kind of funny how the narrative has shifted from "Gyokeres could be on pens"(when they owned him) to "we know Saka is on pens" now.

This comment is kind of funny too though. It’s very easy to use specific stats to suit your narrative.

Saka also has an xGi of 3.18 in the last 5 games and 4 attacking returns. Hit the Defcon threshold twice.

Rogers has an xgi of .93 over the same period, 3 attacking returns and not hit the Defcon threshold.

Still remember Saka(c) gifting a penalty to Odegaard against West Ham last season. Haven't captained him since (actually I haven't even owned him since he got injured a while after that game) but it's about time I fall for it again.

    3. Dank Squid

Saka was a cheat code, always underpriced/low EO vs actual returns. Now, 10m-something, bigger squad/different game, captaining and even owning feels different

still have FH and BB left, and of course only 4 weeks to choose from to play; know many are using FH this GW, but don't know how to optimize and how different it would be from current setup (other than in DF); will be using the 5 FTs to build towards the BB

what GWs do you think best for FH and BB? thanks!

    current squad is:
    Sanchez, Dubravka
Munoz, Pau, O'Reilly, Calafiori, Acheampong (obviously a few flags in DEF)
Saka, Bruno F., Bruno G., Foden, King
    Haaland, Thiago, Mateta

Jeesh, two very harsh responses in my opinion. Seems to be finally showing glimpses of his Chelsea form and good fitness levels at last according to Amorim and himself. In a good patch of form. Will be a minutes risk but Sesko is ill and Mbuemo may not be able to play from what I’ve ready.

If you have a few FTs maybe worth getting another sub in, particularly with Xmas period anyways

A little, depends when his team want him, technically they can call him up before Mon match

Nothing wrong with it. I got Saka in to captain him though.

      Leeds conceded 29
      Brentford home form is good
Saka numbers when gyok on the pitch are not great.
      So may be a punt

How we looking? 4 FTs used

    Sanchez
    O’Reilly, White, VdV
Saka (C), Mbeumo, Foden, Rice, Rogers
    Haaland, Thiago

    Dub, DCL, Senesi, Keane

Yep, it’s a transfer waiting to happen but thought it might be worth it for this week.

Slightly worried about both him and Mbeumo minutes from reading here now though!

I like the VdV, Rogers, DCL, Senesi and Keane picks. Template doesn't really matter, "the others" have the potential to boost your rank

        Cheers.

And ya I’ve been trying to have a couple of potential haul non-template picks to differentiate all season, but it’s so hard. Gakpo actually was one for a few weeks, and was lucky enough to get Rogers in right for his brace.

I know the feeling. I benched KDH points, then realized - home games, great stats, chance of returns. Tough game, those small gains mean so much

      Saka. Wolves look horrible.

It’s a decent shout. I’d probably chicken out though and cap Saka this week and TC Haaland if I still had it

Saka has very low ceiling but a weaker opponent. Haaland has an EFL game before next gw.

Last few picks on FH. Pick two:
    A: Foden
    B: Dango
    C: Raul
