If so, Saka has the final attacking touch before the own goal, which qualifies for an assist under the Own Goals rule (“A player who has the final touch before an own goal is scored is awarded an assist”). Additionally, the goal comes after the ball hits the woodwork and rebounds off the goalkeeper, which is explicitly covered under Shots and Rebounds (“If an own goal is scored directly following a save, block or a shot rebounding off the woodwork, an assist is awarded”).

FYI guys I’ve gone through the assist rules, and this is what will be applied re the first Arsenal goal:

“The corner taken by Saka will be deemed a shot on goal because Johnstone has attempted the save directly with no touch by another player prior.
Therefore this will be awarded as an own goal by Johnstone and an assist for Saka.”

This is one for those who love the details of fpl rules

First one not being given has more to do with opta seeing it as a cross, not a shot.
Apparently with a cross the rebound assist doesnt count. If they see it as a shot, it will...

Be funny if there is a sport where a guy takes a shot and it goes in, but because the keeper touched it while failing to actually save it, the shot taker gets neither a goal or assisted awarded.
