Gameweek 17 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) begins on Tyneside with Newcastle United v Chelsea.

Kick-off is at 12.30pm GMT.

TEAM NEWS

There are two changes from the Newcastle side that lost to Sunderland last weekend.

Tino Livramento is injured, while Anthony Elanga drops to the bench.

Jacob Ramsey and Jacob Murphy come into the side.

It looks like Lewis Miley will be at right-back again, as he was in midweek.

After making wholesale changes in the EFL Cup, Enzo Maresca pretty much reverts to the side that he sent out in Gameweek 16.

There’s one change, however: Moises Caicedo is in for Enzo Fernandez.

LINE-UPS

Newcastle United XI: Ramsdale, Miley, Schar, Thiaw, Hall, Guimaraes, Tonali, Ramsey, J Murphy, Woltemade, Gordon.

Subs: Ruddy, Joelinton, Wissa, Barnes, Elanga, A Murphy, Willock, Shahar, Neave.

Chelsea XI: Sanchez, Gusto, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella, James, Caicedo, Neto, Palmer, Garnacho, Pedro.

Subs: Jorgensen, Acheampong, Badiashile, Tosin, Hato, Andrey Santos, Buonanotte, Fernandez, Guiu.

Usually a good sign for defensive midfielders. Doing a tidy job.

Wish they would introduced a rule for booking players after penalty VAR checks if it is evident the player has dived.

This would be excellent for those who hate watching football but love watching things in slow-motion

No, not really. People who enjoy watching football would see less people diving

There's already a chance of yellow and it doesn't deter players diving at all - if anything, they're more likely to do it because VAR is an absolute farce

I don’t see your logic here. Introduce bookings for diving = players more likely to do it?

My point was that VAR hasn't deterred diving at all, and players are actually more likely to embellish contact because they know there's even more of a chance they actually get the decision.

VAR rules don’t check for dives they just check for fouls which is the whole point I was making.

“players are actually more likely to embellish contact because they know there's even more of a chance they actually get the decision.” Is this not already the case with VAR??? How does introducing a booking for diving influence this in any way? Players already initiate contact knowing VAR will look?

Introducing a booking won't influence diving in any way - that's my whole point. All it'll do is make the viewing experience much worse, especially for matchgoers (which nobody seems to care about when asking for more daft VAR involvement)

They check for the pen anyways so it wouldn't take up much more time.

Yes, VAR is famously quick and efficient - an extra thing to check for would take miliseconds

          Exactly

If there is contact that could have put a player off balance but still not a foul - no yellow

If a player goes to ground putting their arms in the air contesting for a pen without any contact - yellow
