All of us here at Fantasy Football Scout would like to wish a very merry Christmas to our readers and their loved ones.

We’re taking a brief pause from the editorial content (and the self-flagellation after bringing in Bruno Fernandes early) to spend time with our loved ones, but we’re not forgetting the looming FPL deadline.

We’ve got more Gameweek 18 articles to come over the the next 24 hours, including the Scout Picks, Captain Sensible and a piece from Lateriser.

We hope to bring you a final team news round-up, too, should anything of note emerge late.

Editorial content will resume tonight, while the predicted line-ups will be finalised, as well.

Until then, we’d like to extend a huge thank you for your continued support of the site throughout 2025.

There’ll be a more prolonged retrospective in the traditional New Year’s message but, from all at Fantasy Football Scout, we wish you a very happy holidays.

      I think a lot depends on your rank .
      If you're ranked high & want to avoid a big drop go with Haaland but
      If you're chasing take a punt on Ekitike as probably not many around your rank would have him .
      I like the Bruno G pick very much under the radar only 13.6% ownership

          I'm holding BrunoG for a bit longer

          I got some of his previous points and think he'll shine in the Burnley game

          Hold for the run but barring injuries he's probably next in line for the chop

          Need to be patient with players like him and play them through the home games, he's basically the 7th attacker.

    Sadly I had absolutely no luck the last weekend and lost a lot of points.

    My bench was Calvert-Lewin, Keane and Alderete.

    My team was:

    Guehi, van Dijk, Rondon
    B. Fernandes, Foden, Bruno G., Saka, Rice
    Haaland, Thiago

    Was it simply bad luck that I had the wrong players on the bench or was it just plain stupidity?

      In one week on a FH or BB there's a fair amount of variance or good luck required.

      Don't take it personally, try to even it out over the season.

    We've added a Penalties section to the Eye Test in the Members Area https://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/eye-test/penalties/

    There's two parts to it: 1) an Overview table showing the records of the penalty takers currently in FPL; 2) a breakdown of all penalties since 2013/14.

    There's video links for the current season, I should get last season's clips added on Boxing Day.

    It also shows which other penalty takers were on the pitch but didn't take the penalty. Limited to penalties taken in the PL.

    Hopefully it's useful!

    When putting it together, I found out that we haven't had a defender take a penalty in the PL for over four and a half years, but since 2013/14 there have been seven different defenders who have taken penalties. For a little extra quiz, can you name them?

    I'll give their teams as a clue:

    FFS was and is the reason I discovered FPL (10 years ago), and other fantasy football games (later). Increased immersion in the actual game (I watched every minute of PL 2020-2023) and a great test of analytical skills (vacation? No, FPL). Thank you, everyone, every awesome individual seeing this or having ever visited this site.

        I do like the idea of a McNeil for this week in particular on FH id go for it but using all 4 fts I have to try to limit my long term tranfers out so im a bit stuck on what to do

        Should have just used BB earlier but this week feels better than next for my team
