After five blanks in six Gameweeks and a shock benching against Wolves for Erling Haaland (£15.0m), is it time to back against him with the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) captaincy?

That’s what we’re considering in ‘Captain Sensible’, despite Manchester City’s favourable-looking fixture against a struggling Tottenham Hotspur side.

In-form Manchester United and Chelsea attackers such as Bruno Fernandes (£9.5m) and Enzo Fernandez (£6.7m) are strong options ahead of Saturday’s 1.30pm GMT deadline.

In this piece, we will assess the on-site captaincy poll, analyse myriad player and team statistics, consult the Rate My Team (RMT) points projections, check in with the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings and settle on a top three for the armband.

Captaincy Poll

Best captain 24

There’s a new name at the top of the Fantasy Football Scout captaincy poll standings: Bruno Fernandes. Just shy of a third of our site users believe the Portugal international is the best option for Gameweek 24, following three consecutive assists.

Haaland sits in the unfamiliar position of second place, currently boasting just over 18.5% of the vote. Following his benching in Gameweek 23, the Norwegian has dropped in price, despite scoring in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Joao Pedro (£7.2m), Gabriel Magalhaes (£6.9m) and Bukayo Saka (£10.0m) are the only other players to garner more than 5% of support. Chelsea’s Pedro scored twice in midweek, while Gabriel is the highest-scoring defender in Fantasy, notching 39 points in five starts since returning from injury. Both he and Saka were rested on Wednesday.

Really close imo. I'd edge towards Bowen just cause he is on all set pieces and penalties

Watkins owners, think he will he play on Sunday? Emery sounded more hopeful than I was expecting.

    Alternatively Watkins>> Pedro (-4)?

If he doesn’t make it then Guehi is coming off my bench

Wondering the same thing, Emery's comments sound like he's okay, but his minutes could still be managed. Predicted lineups on here have Abraham starting

Thanks for the replies. Benching Bowen after he just hauled? He’s on pens too. Rice hasn’t been impressive the last 3 gws. Leeds is also very steady. I agree Bowen is probably the right choice but Chelsea has been conceding as well.

G2G?. All comments welcomed. How’s the starters/bench order look?

    Gabriel - Chalobah - Timber
    Mbuemo - Semenyo - Enzo - Fernandes
    Haaland (C) - Pedro - Evanilson

Dubravka - Rice - Hill - Van Hecke

Why am I seeing all these teams with a benchinc headache every week. Just downgrade one of the forwards and upgrade on of the mids or other way around

      1. JohnnyB10
        • 1 Year
        2 months, 3 days ago

I only have a benching headache this week cause I brought Brobbey ( switching to 3-5-2 after this gw ). It’s either Rice or Wirtz on the bench, Bowen will play regardless of the fixtures.

    3. Eze Come, Eze Go

Yep WC team but the Rice v Evanilson start is a headache. Would guys rather start Rice ahead of Evanilson?

I wouldn’t. I might be wrong though, but it won’t be easy for Arsenal at the Elland Road for sure. For me it’s Rice vs Bowen. Will go with the forward pick.

Would rathee have double Arsenal defence than def + Raya. Raya never geta any saves so for 5.8m or whatever he is now he just ain't worth it imo. At least Timber and Gabriel have the attacking output

A - long term Raya, best gk in the fpl

      1. Gommy
        • 16 Years
        2 months, 3 days ago

He’s arguably one of the better GK’s of a bad bunch but massively protected by his defence.

But this is FPL and he certainly isn’t in that. I’d still put Pickford above on both counts.

    5. Gommy
      • 16 Years
      2 months, 3 days ago

B because Raya is very underwhelming in FPL as an owner, barely any save points so you’re only hope is for clean sheets, which he doesn’t get enough of.
